Work Text:

Today was THE day: Seltzer Cookie would marry Menthol Cookie.

Thankfully, both of their families were still alive. In attendance were some friends from the old order, current friends, and family members.

The cold, crisp spring air outside complemented how refreshing the duo was: and a marriege would turn their lives right back up. Menthol Cookie stood hand in hand with Seltzer Cookie at the alter.

Seltzer Cookie wore a flowy, fluffy white dress. The sleeves and skirt were complete with a white lacy design. Her hair was in its normal state (curly hair), with a long white veil atop.

As for Menthol Cookie, he wore a black tuxedo. His hair was done just slightly, to look presentable. He wore his glasses as well.

Bubbles popped like crazy. It looked as if someone had just poured soda and mixed it with bubble juice. As Menthol Cookie held her hands in his, he noticed her slight shaking.

Internally, every limb in Seltzer’s body felt like it was tingling. It was the worst in her hands, which were being carressed by Menthol Cookie’s. Thank the divine’s that Menthol Cookie was constantly cold, because the hot flashes which radiated throughout her body which added to the horror of how she already felt.

Seltzer was a social butterfly. The amount of people (maybe 100 total?) didnt affect her at all. Her mind flooded with “oh gosh, oh gosh,” which was what could be told when she was extremely exited.

So then, why was the cause of the many other dreadful sensations?

“Are you unwell…?” Menthol whispered, as the officiant yapped about marriage and the meaning it had to them. His cold eyes gave hers a rare warn gaze. He gave her hands a squeeze, which barely brought her back to the present.

She shook head, attempting to communicate that all was well. Truth be told…she was infact unwell. The bubbles kept popping, her body kept trembling, she would feel hot and suddenly cold, there was some deep feeling that consumed her…But she felt exited of all things! Impending doom from the cookie she went through hell and back with? Weird. Even more, she remembers being insane and delusional over him.

Menthol’s gaze was intense. He studied every expression from her, as he could feel intense sweating from her hands. Menthol Cookie would occasionally give Seltzer’s hands yet another squeeze as he noticed the bubbles continue to pop like crazy.

The feeling of the veil of her head reminded her of the feeling of it ripped off her head as she fleed from watching the holy avatar eat her religious leader. The white poofy dress; which was angelic; beared the same weight as her nunnery dress. Too many people in the crowd, people who couldn’t be saved as they ran towards their emmence eaten.

For the first time in forever, (not that he hadn’t been squeezing occasionally), Seltzer Cookie gave a squeeze back to Menthol Cookie. It was a squeeze of desperation; remembering that she only had him.

“Seltzer…Seltzer…I’m right here. Focus….” Menthol Cookie’s voice faded in and out as the flashbacks continued.

She heard every scream as the avatar was eaten, the footsteps of those running to their death, the helplessness of watching what they worshiped betray them and the fellow devotees facing the same fate. The bubbles grew to the point of straight fizz now.

The officiant continued to yap. Menthol had no idea how much time there was until vows were left. All he knew was that he needed to both reassure and snap Seltzer Cookie back to reality.

Seltzer had to use everything in her to regain her mind to reality. She locked eyes with Menthol, trying to focus on how his hands were caressing hers with his thumbs, how his voice was calm (unlike the flashbacks).

His calm demeanour contributed to Seltzer Cookie’s lowering anxieties. Menthol Cookie noticed more weight atop of his hands, signalling that Seltzer was most likely using him to lean on.

Seltzer’s vision slightly began to get blurry. The “oh gosh! oh gosh! I’m with menthol cookie, and he’s holding MY hands,” thoughts regrouped her. Menthol’s hands slid up to her wrists, remarking the center of gravity if Seltzer were to fall.

Pastry Cookie acted as if she were fixing Seltzer Cookie’s hair, but she as well assisted in trying to ground Seltzer.

Seltzer’s facial expression didn’t falter, despite the flashback. She knew that she had to hold it together until the vows. Just until she could be privately with Menthol Cookie. However, the small comforts he reflected seemed to be even more reassuring.

There were just a few more moments until the vows. Seltzer’s stomach gained the same butterflies as whenever Menthol praised her in the order. She remembered the moment when all she had was Menthol, and when they held eachother; not in a romantic manor, but as they sobbed into eachother after watching everything they hoped and belived be crumbled.

“oh gosh, oh gosh, the same person who couldn’t take the hint is now getting married? oh gosh, oh gosh…i wish the whole order were here to witness this…or not…” Seltzer thought.

“And now, We start the vows…” The officiaiant announced, turning to Menthol Cookie.

“Seltzer Cookie, I take you to be my lawfully wedded wife. I vow to love you and to care for you as long as we both shall live. I take you with all my faults and strengths, as I offer to you my faults and strengths. I will turn to you when I need assistance in anything and everything. I choose you as the person whom I will spend the rest of my life with.” The externally cold and icy cookie gave Seltzer a look of warmth…which was something she’d never seen. His stone cold eyes meet hers, as he meant every word with his sincerest gratitude.

His vows embodied the same tone as when he reassured Seltzer they were safe for the first time after meeting since the promotion of doom.

He slipped the wedding ring onto her finger.

It took Seltzer a few seconds to recover emotionally. She took a deep breath to calm her anxieties. “Menthol Cookie, I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband. I vow to be your faithful partner and love. I vow to love and care for you as long as we both shall live. I promise to love you unconditionally and support you in all that you do. I shall cherish you when I spend every last day with you, by your side.” She gazed deeply into his light blue eyes full of pureness, squeezing his hands so they both could be in the moment of being one as husband and wife, not together as that is all that lived of the order.

(oml that was the most beautiful thing ive ever wrote)

“You may now kiss the bride.” The officiant articulated.

The two kissed, Menthol had to lean down slightly due to the couple’s height difference.  And after this, Seltzer felt like she was finally alright; truly.

Notes:

i kinda wrote menthol cookie to not really know whats shes panicing about but help her because it adds to the nature, he more of focuses on how to calm down bc yea
