Chapter Text
Andrius was never the kind of person who was willingly doing charity work to help people. No matter what Barbetos says, especially humans, were just not worth his time.
Of course he helped his pack. But other than that, he didn’t really see any reason to help anyone that wasn’t a wolf.
That was until he found him.
—————————————————————————
It was a rainy day at the beginning of winter. The raindrops were frozen but it wasn’t quite cold enough for snow yet.
Andrius was resting in a cave somewhere hidden in Wolfendom.
While almost falling asleep to the sound of the rain, he heard it.
A cry. Almost unnoticed through the rain but he could hear it. It was high pitched like the voice of a child… a human child.
He didn’t know why he decided to help.
Maybe it was sympathy for the child or maybe he was just bored.
But now he was standing outside in the rain a few meters from a cradle.
Inside was a human baby with white hair and red eyes. Soaked in rain they were probably already out here for hours.
The only thing keeping them from the cold was a scarf with, strangely enough, sumarian imprints.
When the wolf lord tried to step closer the baby cried more, when he tried to grab them, they tried to hit him, clearly scared of the big wolf.
Not wanting to scare the child Andrius did something he he hadn’t done in years and also didn’t really wanna do.
He called Barbetos.
It took a few tries.
The bard was probably somewhere past out or sleeping again.
But after a few tries Andrius could hear the annoying voice of the god.
“Hiiiii. How are ya doing old friend. What is going on? You usually avoid me instead of calling. Wait, don’t tell me you actually missed m-”
Barbetos stopped in his rambling when he saw what was in front of Andrius.
“Andrius is that-” “a child. Yes.” The wolf interrupted him.
“So what exactly do you need my help for?” “It won’t stop crying”
Barbetos looked perplexed, until he started laughing.
“The mighty wolf of the north, scared of by a child’s crying.” The bard wheezed out between laughs.
“This is stupid I’m leaving.” Andrius said while turning around.
“Oh no no no. Finders keepers.” Barbetos returned while letting magic flow in the wolf’s direction.
Where there was a wolf a second ago, there now was a tall man with long midnight blue hair.
Andrius had seen this version of himself before, but he never liked it when he was suddenly transformed without consent. Human bodies were so impractical and slow.
With an audible sigh he started approaching the child once more.
This time it stopped crying and held its hands out in the wolf’s direction.
The hands were small and chubby. But Andrius stared at them like they were a weapon.
“Come on, take his hands. I mean look at the boy. This adorable little thing needs some warmth.” Andrius almost forgot Barbetos was still there, but he followed the advice and even picked the boy up.
“Good boy.” He heard from the bard’s direction. But before he could turn around to finally attack him for this comment he was already gone.
He looked back down at the child who decided it was a good time to take a nap in the stranger’s arms.
“What am I gonna do with you?”
For now he took the child back to the cave, with the hope of trying him so he wouldn’t get sick.
And maybe also get the wolves to take care of him, so he could give a beating to Barbetos for his last comment.
