Work Text:
The vampires had all noticed something with Scott. Scott had these weird long pointy ears that none of them had, while in various vampire stories vampires could have pointed ears none of them did but Scott.
Not even Owen so it obviously couldn’t be something to do with age. Cleo didn’t know anything about it either and other than Scott she was the vampire which had the most knowledge of vampires other than Scott. Obviously they weren’t going to ask Scott, while curious none of the fledglings felt like it was their place to ask, some being scared, some feeling that it might be a sensitive topic or possibly private since Scott hadn’t told them, while others felt as if it wasn’t their place to ask Scott. Owen just didn’t care enough to ask, it wasn’t any of his business after all, if Scott told him then he told him if he didn’t then he didn’t, it wasn’t any nothing for him to get worked up about even if he was just the tiniest bit curious.
——————————————————————
Scott had shown how amazing he was with a bow and arrow when the vampires had burned down the walls of oakhurst to nothing but ash and cinder. Where the hell had Scott learned to shoot like that, wasn’t he just some rich boy who got turned into a vampire, why would he have ever have needed to learn to shoot a bow and arrow like that, in the most expert way possible, didn’t he have people who did all the fighting for him.
“Hey Scott! Where and when did you learn to shoot a bow and arrow like that?! It was amazing! Actually I think you might be an expert in it!”. Shelby had decided to ask the question that was on all the vampires minds when they had gotten back to the castle. It was probably on the humans minds as well, Scott had claws, why would he have learned a different weapon
“Well Shelby, where I grew up no matter who you were or what your status was you were required to learn archery from royalty to the poorest of peasants, actually my childhood home was known for hanging the best archers in the world. But basically I learned it because my parents made me learn” Scott responded to Shelby calmly. OMG THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST THING SHE HAS LEARNED ABOUT SCOTTS PARENTS AND HUMAN DAYS! except knowing that he was a very rich human of course, BUT STILL! Scott’s mysterious past and she now knows more about it!
“Soooo… Scott I was wondering what was your family like? Other than them being rich and all that. Were your parents good parents? Did you have any siblings? Are any of them still alive, like did you turn any of them?” Gasp “DID ONE OF THEM TURN YOU?”
“Okay Shelby let’s stop with the questions. Though i guess I could answer the ones you asked already, just don’t go blabbering about my past to the humans, i don’t mind much if the other vampires know but i do mind if the humans know, sit down and I’ll tell you then.” Scott replied to Shelby’s rapid, excited questions about his family and past, a little surprised she actually questioned him about it, he’d assumed if she was ever going to ask about his past she would have done it much earlier, perhaps when she thought he was a human and they shared that god awful shack they made, he’s sure if he preyed to Aeor he would have made a much better home out of magic, or he could have done so himself with his ice magic, which would have been much faster to do anyway! Or perhaps he thought she would have asked about it in her first week of being a vampire? Oh well neither happened so it’s no use in stressing himself on what time the thought she would ask about his past.
“Well about siblings I did have one, my older brother.” Scott started off his story… or maybe just a couple facts? About his past.
“I knew it! I knew you gave off youngst child energy!” Shelby exclaimed excitedly, pointing at Scott while sitting down with her legs crossed, she really did remind Scott of a child, makes sense considering how much younger she is than him.
“Ohhh? You knew it did you? What haven’t away that I was a youngest child?” Scott knew that younger children were stereotypically more favoured by their parents and Scott was definitely favoured way more than Xornoth was, not only by their parents, but all of Rivendell and all the elves. Scott being seen as a saint and all that while Xornoth in today’s world was seen as the equivalent of the anti-Christ. So yeah Scott knew he was the favourite child from the day him and his brother were declared the champions of Aroe and Xore.
“Well I think the big give away would probably be the fact that you demand people to listen to you and for things to go your way, that’s kinda a youngest or only child thing.” Shelby had explained to Scott her reasoning.
“About how good my parents were…. Well that is a difficult question to answer when it comes to my parents.” Scott said and well it was true, his parents were very different when it came to how they treated him compared to how they treat Xornoth.
“Oh? How so?” Shelby had responded quite simply.
“Well whether they were good parents depends on which child they are parenting. They were good parents for me and all, they spoiled me rotten. When it comes to my brother though…. Well they didn’t particularly like him for reasons outside of anyone’s but the divine’s control, they were very much bad parents to my brother.” Scott had answered and he was being very honest right now even if he wasn’t explaining the whole thing like the fact that he wasn’t a manor lord, but instead royalty, or his holy connection.
“Oh that’s horrible….” Shelby replied. But she was also curious about another thing that she hadn’t asked during her initial bout of questions about his family. “So Scott what’s your brother’s name? you haven’t said it the entire time we have been talking about him and I’m kinda curious.”
“Well his name is Xornoth, not really a name you would get anymore is it? Unless it has made a sudden reactance in baby naming in the 600 years I was asleep for. Don’t worry about not being able to pronounce it, it’s a different language, my native language actually, but it has been considered a dead language, I’m pretty sure the only people who know it is because they are immortal and from the times it was spoken in, and I don’t think that it has been revived by any means.” Honestly it was quite sad that Elvish was a dead language, he personally thought it was a beautiful language and also found it the easiest language he speaks, but that’s probably because of the fact that it’s his first language.
“Wow… that is a cool name, and yeah I don’t think I could properly pronounce that. But what’s your native language called then!?” Shelby asked yet another question to Scott.
“Well the language is called Elvish. It’s honestly a beautiful language in my opinion. And obviously I find it the easiest to speak in. I mean if I’m taking to myself I or writing something for me I’ll do that in elvish. It’s probably my favourite language if I had to pick one” Scott said, this made him feel old like how parents tell stories of how things were in their days.
“And well for if my family is alive my parents definitely aren’t, and I’m pretty sure my brother is still alive in some form” that was the last of the initial questions, now he was expecting any add on questions, he would let her come up with her own conclusion on whether any of his family was vampires.
“So what was the place you grew up like? I mean how did it look like? And what was it called” Shelby had asked another question.
“Well I grew up in a kingdom called Rivendell, it was a very religious place but Christianity wasn’t really a thing at the time. We believed in 2 gods that were present Aeor the god of basically all good things, and Xeor the god of all is bad, in the most basic form. They were twin stag gods, but anyway their was a lot of churches of Aeor in the kingdom which meant lots of gold decoration in the kingdom because it was a large part in any celebration and ceremony to do with him. But if you meant the land scape, it was very mountainous, lots of cliffs and caves, actually the entire kingdom was on a mountain range, and it was snowy,. And when I say it was snowy i mean it was snowy, it was a very cold but it was a beautiful place to live.” Scott got into a bit of a ramble about Rivendell but he couldn’t help it, it was his home.
“Woah it sounds pretty. So I guess you used to ware a lot warmer clothes when you lived there huh.” Shelby responded. Scott had decided to not tell her that he often wore shorts, that would probably seem a little bit weird considering how cold Rivendell is.

Shelby was going to tell the other vampires what she had learned about Scott With the others, she thought that Avid especially would want to know about it.
“So Shelby how did he know archery that well?” Drift asked as soon as Shelby walked into the room all the vampires were in waiting for Shelby to come out Tod the room where she was speaking to Scott in. “What took you so long in that room was the story of Scott’s amazing archery really take that long?” Avid added. Which to be fair that was a lot of time in the room when she was just supposed to be asking how he was so good at archery. “Yeah that too.” Drift added on to what Avid said.
All the vampires there gathered around the meeting table ready to listen what Shelby was going to tell them. Avid looking really excited and was a little giggly, he had always been like this when it come to Scott since he had become a vampire, and maybe even a tiny bit before that. But over all everyone looked pretty curious about this slight bit of being able to look into Scott’s past.
“Okay so I learned a lot more than about his archery skills, actually when we were talking I almost forgot that we were supposed to just be talking about archery, but about his skill with the bow and arrow he said his family made him learn it and everyone else where he uses to live before becoming a vampire learned how to use the bow and arrow.” Shelby started off with. “So what else did he tell you about then!?” Avid interrupted excitedly. “Well I was about to get onto that Avid.” Shelby replied. “Sorry.”
“Well as I was about to say before I was interrupted, Scott and I ended up talking about his past and more specifically the time before he was a vampire, specifically his childhood!”
“Wait you actually go the Scott Goldsmith to talk about his childhood?” Owen said with a doubtful tone.
“Yeah he actually told me about his childhood and his family a little bit! Like how where he grew up in a kingdom! An actual fully fledged kingdom! Can you believe that it sounds so cool, it was a kingdom called Rivendell and it was high in the mountains! Also Scott has never practiced Christianity or any similar religion but apparently the kingdom he’s from and him himself was deeply religious to this religion he wouldn’t even tell me the name of!”
“Wait is Scott still religious or was this just in the past with him being religious, I honestly do think I can imagine Scott as a religious man!” Pyro exclaimed after hearing about Scott being religious at any point in his life sounded like a ridicules lie, their is no way any religion would ever condone things Scott has done other than many satanism but this religion apparently has nothing to do white Christianity or the god that the three major faiths of Jewdiaism, Christianity, or Islam, so that had to rule out satanism. Oh it was probably some long lost religion that is totally unknown to him knowing Scott, it was probably useless trying to figure out what it is.
“Yeah I agree with pyro I don’t think I can at all imagine Scott as religious in any way shape or form” Owen added on in show of how he too found it utterly ridiculous to even think of Scott as a religious man.
“I don’t know, I think I could see Scott as a little religious boy when he was a kid” Avid added on.
“Well with how he was speaking he sounded to still be religious, he was basically praising the ceremonies and the religious traditions and spoke nothing but positively about the religion, so even if he doesn’t really do this religion anymore he definitely still holds grate respect for it!” Shelby said to clear things up about how she felt about Scott’s religious beliefs.
“Well I think we have all had enough of talking about religion so how about what else did he tell you” Owen stated, clearly wanting to change the topic from religion, it was known that he wasn’t a fan of religion, after all they killed Lewis due to religious beliefs against their own to give the townsfolk a reason to burn him.
“Alright well Scott also told me that he didn’t grow up speaking English and he grew up inside speaking a now dead language called Elvish” Shelby told them all.
“Ohhhh that sounds SO COOL SHELBY! Did he teach you any?!” Avid excitedly exclaimed almost jumping out of his seat at the meeting table. He was very obviously trying to find a way to be able to connect to Scott more, he thought that if he was to speak a little bit of Scott’s native language that maybe it would help him on his journey of trying to get with the cute, old, amazing vampire!
“Oh I really should have asked him to teach me how to say something in it. But sadly no I don’t know any Elvish” Shelby told avid, however she was excited to start talking about Scott’s family.
“Alright I want you all to guess what Scott’s family was like did he have siblings, were siblings older or younger and whether they are a girl or boy and how many if you think that he has any, and whether this parents were both their! Winner for if anyone gets it correct they can… uhh have this bottle of blood!”Shelby pulled out a bottle of blood from a little pouch she had tied around her waist. Shelby wanted to make a fun little gone out of guessing about Scott’s family, see how may can guess he had an older brother with both of his parents present in his life.
“Oh well I think Scott had both of his parents in his life and was an only child!” Avid guessed first.
“Hmm I say that sire’s parents were not that present in his life and that he had an older sister.” Pyro said right after avid, trying to say it calmly but also clearly trying to competing with avid on who knows Scott best.
“Well Shelby I think Scott has a younger brother and that both of his parents were present and loving” Drift made her guess. They all now turned to Owen who was still thinking, they were all awaiting his guess on Scott’s family situation being the last in the group to guess.
“Well I say that both of Scott’s parents were present in his life, he’s way to confident in himself for them to have not been their, and I also think that Scott had a younger sister and a younger brother.” Owen finally gave his answer.
“Well I guess I get to keep my bottle of blood then” Shelby said putting it right back from where she got it. “Scott had both his parents present in his life and he also had one older brother! His older brother has a name in elvish and I can’t really pronounce it, it’s something like zonr….., xornel? I don’t know. If anyone was wounderding I did get confirmation that Scott’s parents did have a favourite child and it was very clearly Scott, well according to Scott he is at least.”
“Oh so I was right about Scott being a youngsters child then !”said pyro smitten with himself, proud that he got that and avid didn’t.
