Chapter Text
Brainstorm was always a suspicious nervous mech, but never would I have thought he was a decepticon spy. I starred at the mask with the obvious decepticon symbol. Brainstorm clearly nervous, even though he was good with gun engineering he knew he couldn’t best perceptor in a fight.
“I-I can explain!”
I gave him a look without moving my head.
“I recommend doing that sooner rather than later”.
Brainstorm froze with that look he gives me when it’s obvious he’s staring. Like he’s shocked I’d even give him a chance. He’s been staring like that more often as of lately.
“Okay well- it’s kinda how it looks.”
Brainstorm flinched when I moved my head up to look at him. He put his arms up in defense.
“The fact you think I would strike you is appalling.”
Perceptor stated crossing his arms.
“I don’t know if I’m disappointed or relieved.”
I looked back at brainstorm.
“pardon?”
Brainstorms face went red.
“what?!”
Brainstorm said laughing nervously.
“The war is over Percy. Please, just don’t tell anyone.”
Brainstorm looked genuine and his eyes looked pathetic, but cute which angered perceptor greatly. When did I start finding decepticons cute.
“Fine. But you have to promise that you’re not going to plot anything.”
Brainstorms eyes lit up.
“I swear to you Percy!”
Brainstorm looked at perceptor with the desire he always does. It always makes Perceptors spark squeeze. Primus, I was getting soft I was wrecker for Primus sake! Keep it together.
“The only reason I took this mission was to see you again.”
Brainstorms voice was surprisingly gentle.
“You’re on a mission?”
Brainstorms eyes widened and he shook his hands in defense.
“It’s not like that! Plus I haven’t been giving them anything useful i swear! Just enough so they will let me stay.”
Preceptor leaned forward getting dangerously close to brainstorm which made him suck in his bottom lip.
“All this to see me?”
Brainstorm nodded. This made Perceptor fell things he hadn’t felt since before the war. Perceptor shifted on his feet.
“I will admit. That is very faltering.”
Brainstorm looked Perceptor in the eyes they held the eye contact before brainstorm broke it by nervously looking at the ceiling.
“I didn’t want to see you again just because it’s you. You know one of the greatest scientists ever-But because kimia made me realize that you’re not just a heartless as everyone else says.”
Perceptor folded his arms cocked his head.
“You are a decepticon brainstorm.”
Perceptor stated and brainstorm huffed.
“Doesn’t mean I’m a terrible bot! I just”
brainstorm sighed
“seeing you work on a solution for kup like that it made my spark warm. Kimia opened my eyes to you, not just the label of ‘deadly sniper’.”
Perceptor could feel himself blush. Perceptor doesn’t blush. Hell he doesn’t even deal with emotions that are more complex than a simple friendship. He turned away.
“you speak sweet venomous words decepticon.”
Brainstorms wings fell indicating he was sad, and Perceptor felt bad.
“cmon Percy. Don’t be like that.”
Perceptor let his guard fall for a moment
“I-“
and brainstorm noticed. Of course he noticed.
“Holy shit, you feel bad. You feel bad for calling me names.”
Brainstorm smirked and leaned in close the two face to face, only thing separating them was a lab bench.
“You are awfully close brainstorm.”
Brainstorm cocked his head and grabbed Perceptors hand.
“Yeah, yeah whatever.”
The swish of the door made the moment vanish. Perceptor retreated back into his walls. Brainstorm frowned he was deeply disappointed by the interruption.
It’s been two weeks since Perceptor found out brainstorm was a decepticon. Brainstorm had been acting more confident. Not the false confidence he flaunted that fell as soon as one left the lab. He also became more physically affectionate. Though the “affection” was nothing more than a light tap or him simply standing too close to perceptor. But to perceptor that “affection” was a lot. And Perceptor actually liked it. He wanted more but feared asking. He knew brainstorm would say yes. Yet he still hesitated. Brainstorms hand was pressed to his shoulder.
“Percy? Are you okay?”
Yes? No? Emotions are too difficult.
“I’m fine brainstorm.”
Brainstorm didn’t back down.
“Well then you sure hate that data pad.”
Perceptor looked down at his hands. He had crushed the data pad. He sighed and set it down. A cut had formed on Perceptors palm. Perceptor pressed a rag to the wound.
“You can possibly talk to me about it.”
Brainstorm said nervously. Like the suggestion would make Perceptor retreat into his shell. Which wouldn’t be too far from accurate, but there was something wrong with Perceptor. Everytime he sees brainstorm he just wants to pour his entire spark out to him. The good, bad, and the ugly. Perceptor spent years repressing his emotions. Especially during the war. His emotions made him weak. But now? He wants to just dump everything onto brainstorm. A stupid decepticon is going to get the story of g9 out of him much quicker than rung ever could. And Perceptor couldn’t even be mad about it.
“Hey, it’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it.”
Perceptor sighed.
“I do want to talk about it. And it makes me incredibly angry.”
Perceptor stood and dropped a wet rag onto the table.
“I hope you know what you’re getting yourself into brainstorm.”
Perceptor said refusing to make eye contact. Brainstorm cocked his head.
“Getting myself into? Percy you’re like a 10/10! And like the hottest bot ever!”
Brainstorm sounded so enthused. Perceptor moved towards brainstorm.
“you make me feel.”
Perceptor stated bluntly. He tossed the rag on the work table. He finally looked brainstorm in the eyes. They were filled with adoration. It made perceptor feel sick.
“I don’t do emotions. But here you are making me feel like a love sick puppy.”
Brainstorms eyes lit up. Perceptor crossed his arms.
“Don’t get too excited. You will be gravely disappointed.”
Brainstorm smiled and shook his head. One of his hands touched his hip. Very gently as if he was testing to see if I would retreat away. Which seems very probable.
“I doubt you’ll ever disappoint me Percy. Even if your self deprecation thinks so.”
Self deprecation!? I’m not, I couldn’t be. Flew through Perceptors head.
“I’m just being cautious. I’m not your everyday bot. Though Neither are you.”
Brainstorm smiled and leaned closer. It was obvious he was searching for a form of affection. Perceptor took a deep breath the kissed brainstorms cheek then retreated. Brainstorms hand help his masked cheek for a good minute before starting at perceptor the rest of the day.
Rodimus has been bugging Perceptor all day about the dumbest things it was increasing perceptors anger. So much so he stormed over to brainstorm but not to yell. Instead Perceptor aggressively hugged brainstorm. Brainstorm froze Perceptor very rarely initiates any physical contact. Perceptor was about a head shorter than brainstorm. Perceptor pressed himself into brainstorm. Mostly to hide his embarrassment, but also because he was getting more and more frustrated with rodimus.
“I can’t believe someone can be so stupid!”
Brainstorm laughed and was a little too eager to return Perceptors hug.
“Is that why you hang around me? Everyone else is too dumb for you?”
Brainstorm teased.
“I’m not in the mood for banter.”
Perceptor glared at brainstorm but his façade crumbled fast. It was unnerving to perceptor. That a simple soft expression from brainstorm is correcting everything he’s done to himself.
“Stop, don’t look at me like that.”
Brainstorm cocked his head.
“Like what hon?”
A human term of endearment. Oh, dear Solus what is this mech doing to me.
“You know what.”
Perceptor wasn’t able to muster up a glare. He just shoved his face into brainstorms upper chest.
“You treat me like you want to court me.”
Brainstorm froze and blushed looking away.
“Actually, I do want to court you.”
Perceptors eyes widened cheeks turning pink. The two were quiet for a while.
“Don’t say that.”
Perceptors voice was shaky.
“Not yet at least.”
Perceptor said quietly avoiding any eye contact. The two were silent until they broke away.
The next few days were awkward. Brainstorm was hurt, upset that perceptor wouldn’t even acknowledge them. Perceptor was scared to put it simply. He mostly was afraid of letting his walls down, and brainstorm not liking what’s underneath. He feared that brainstorm would judge him for the lives he took. Brainstorms comrades at that.
“So you’re just gonna ignore me?”
Brainstorm said his expression stern.
“I’m not, ignoring you.”
Perceptor refused to look at brainstorm. It wasn’t a lie he wasn’t ignoring brainstorm.
“It’s basically the same thing! You were hugging me and giving me a kiss on the cheek, now nothing!”
Perceptor felt guilt creep in he knew he was being an ass.
“It’s not nothing. I’m just busy.”
Brainstorm huffed it was really cute.
“Busy my ass!”
Perceptor fiddled with things on his desk.
“I’ve been behind.”
It wasn’t a lie Perceptor has been cutting his work time 29.72 percent since he started craving being around the decepticon.
“Tell me what’s going on in that thing Percy, please?”
Brainstorm said tapping Perceptors helm lightly.
“A lot. Sometimes-“
Primus Perceptor can’t believe he’s doing this.
“Sometimes my brain thinks faster than usual. And it’s just too much. Way too much.”
Perceptor placed his hand on his forehead.
Brainstorms face softened.
“I’ve been embarrassed to admit I’ve been overwhelmed.”
Perceptor said looking down at his work his spark was pounding and his mind was racing. Not a good match everything was so loud. Brainstorm reached out his hand. Perceptor hesitated but grabbed it and let brainstorm pull him into a hug. Perceptor wrapped his arms around brainstorms waist it felt so natural.
“It doesn’t make sense to me. You’ve been able to get me to talk about things that took years to say to rung. And you did it in four weeks.”
Brainstorm was stunned but pretend that he wasn’t.
“Guess I’m just that good. Probably even better if we were you know, together?”
Brainstorms fans kicked on just slightly perceptor smiled, why is he finding this attractive?
“Not yet, and before you get all pouty it’s not you or me it’s everything else!”
Brainstorm cocked his head curiously.
“Everything else? Can you elaborate?”
Perceptor sighed and looked at his desk.
“I’ve barely made a dent in this week’s work. You’re a distraction, a good distraction, but I’m so behind.”
Brainstorm giggled it was cute.
“That’s what you’re worried about. Not others judging but getting behind on work.”
Perceptor bit the inside of his cheek.
“That and the crippling fear you won’t like me as you know me.”
Perceptor looked away embarrassed.
“Awh Percy I like you! All of you!”
Brainstorm grabbed Perceptors cheeks and made Perceptor look at him. Perceptor blushed he had the strength to refuse but he didn’t. Impactors voice rang through his head ‘boy you’re becoming weak’. Even though him and impactor didn’t have the strongest relationship Perceptor knew he cared.
“It’s crazy i went from killing decepticons to cozying on up to one. Impactor is probably rolling in his grave.”
Perceptor chuckled, man it felt good to laugh. Brainstorm laughed nervously
“that guy always scared me, he’s the one with the hook right?”
Perceptor smiled
“harpoon, but yeah.”
Brainstorm rolled his eyes
“oh whatever same thing.”
They both looked at each other then laughed.
