"..and then he took off his shirt, and I went *gasp*, like my body just..."
"I don't need to know that. You keep that to yourself," Asuka stated, turning away from the two others.
This elicited some laughter from the girls, Xiaoyu leaning into Alissa as Asuka gagged at the story. Not anything she needed to hear about her cousin, even if it was just a sparring match.
The school rooftop was a nice little hangout spot, especially after a long day of Mr. Bob's lessons. Man could drone on and on about absolutely nothing.
Asuka liked to come up here with her friends, enjoying the afternoon sun. Of course, the downside is listening to her friends' thirst over people related to her.
"Why do I hang out with you guys?" Asuka sighed as Alissa began recounting some training she did with Lars.
As she shook her head, she felt something. Like someone was watching her. She turned her head, finding a certain person flicking her head to stare off into the distance.
Asuka shook her head once more, turning back to her friends.
Emilie de Rochefort. One of the newer students at Mishima Polytechnic. The girl had been there for a week but had been staring nonstop at Asuka. Challenging her to fights and the works.
Literally, on the first day she was here, he parked her stupid Limo directly in front of her bike, causing her to spill her lunch as she fell to the floor.
Honestly, it would have pissed her off more if there wasn't something else...
But Asuka didn't have time to worry about that; she had bigger fish to fry.
Xiaoyu stood up, "Alright, girls, let's say we head out to the movie!"
Alissa clapped her hands, "Oh yes, I have been rather excited to see the new Tiger Jackson film."
Asuka looked between them before looking at Lili again.
Bigger fish to fry.
Nah, she had to deal with this now.
"Eh, you know what, I'm going to call it a night. I have a lot of schoolwork to do, so I'll catch up with you all."
Xiaoyu looked shocked, "Oh, uh, alright. I'll just give your ticket to Jin then."
"Hope he enjoys it!" Asuka called out as Xiaoyu, and the android left.
"You can stop pretending like I didn't see you staring." She yelled, causing the blonde to jump.
"Uh, I was...I was just..." Lili stammered, her guard down. She took a deep breath as Asuka fully faced her, "Me? Stare? As if. I was just wondering how such a slob managed to stay up on the railings for that long."
Uh-huhh," Asuka was definitely not buying it, but still, she needed to deal with this.
"Look, Lili, I do really need to get going." Asuka started, scratching her neck.
Lili looked down a bit, "Oh, I see."
"Would...you maybe want to come with me? I have to run a few errands and could use the company." Asuka rubbed the back of her head as Lili just stared.
Asuka couldn't tell if the other girl's cheeks were red or if the sun was just hitting her right, but a rather interesting smile graced her face as she began literally vibrating.
"You...want me to go with you?"
Asuka's heart started beating faster for some reason. She turned away, "Look, if you don't want to, you could jus-"
"NO!" Lili yelled, before clearing her throat, "I mean, no. I would be honored to accompany you, even if you are a slob."
"Watch it."
--------
The night was actually going well. Asuka picked up some dinner for her and her dad, and now Lili. Other than that, she found herself having a pleasant conversation with Lili.
The other girl told her about her home country, how she got accepted to polytechnic, and how she learned how to fight.
Asuka also told Lili about herself, including how her father was crippled by the bastard Feng Wei.
"He sounds awful," Lili replied, as Asuka balanced herself on an elevated platform.
Asuka nodded, "One day, I'll get our family dojo sign back. Mark my words."
"Marking them," Lili hummed, "and when you do, I'll be sure to be the first one there to fight you and take it from you."
"In your dreams." Asuka humphed.
Lili's face turned red again, muttering under her breath, "You have no idea what I dream about."
---
A couple of days passed, and Asuka found herself spending more and more time with Lili. They would often have dinners together, with Lili striking up a very friendly dialogue with Asuka's Father.
Asuka herself was enjoying the company. Lili had a lot of interesting perspectives and was great at fighting. Honestly, Asuka had never had so much fun sparring with someone in her life.
She found herself counting down the minutes until she could spend her free time with Lili, you know, typical friend things.
In fact, that is where Asuka was heading now, to go see Lili. She had just finished her classwork and was allowed to leave early, so she decided to head off and wait for Lili outside of her home ec class.
Asuka wondered to herself what Lili would be wearing, as Lili always had on the cutest outfits.
Of course, this is just how friends thought of each other. Definitely.
"Asuka!"
Asuka turned to see 5 people walking towards her, her friend group.
"Asuka, we are going out tonight on a group date," Xiaoyu exclaimed happily, " We were wondering if you'd like to come along."
"Uh, Xiaoyu, I'm single., Asuka stated, trying to make it clear that she was not interested in being a 5th wheel.
"I know, hence why Hwoarang is here! Thought maybe you'd be interested in trying out the dating game for once in your life!"
Asuka winced a bit.
She knew Xiaoyu meant well, but what an awful thing to say. Asuka looked over at the orange-haired guy. Xiaoyu thinks this is her type?
Asuka opened her mouth to rebut when-
"Asuuka Kazama!"
Lili came pushing past the group, knocking Hwoarang to the ground, planting a kiss on both of Asuka's *admittedly redder* cheeks.
"Oh, hi Lili!" Xiaoyu chirped as Lili released Asuka from her grip.
"Hello!"
Asuka cleared her throat a bit, looking between the group and Lili, "Uh, sorry Xiaoyu, I'm not able to join you all tonight. I sort of had plans with Lili already."
"That's perfectly alright!" Alissa chimed in, "Maybe next time!"
The group bid farewell as Asuka just stood there next to Lili.
"We have plans?" Lili asked, breaking the silence.
Asuka just let out a laugh, "I just wanted to avoid hanging out with them. I mean, does that guy even seem like my type?"
"Hwoarang? They were trying to set you up with Hwoarang?"
"Yeah, ridiculous, right?"
Lili got quiet, clearly not finding the humor in the situation.
The Osakan looked at her, an eyebrow raised, "Lili? You okay?"
"Would you maybe want to come to my house?" The Monegasque asked, her eyes not leaving the ground as she asked this.
Asuka was taken aback. In all this time they had been hanging out, Lili seemed to just want to come over to her house.
"Are you sure?"
"I insist."
---
The house was rather modest, a nice little one-story house that Lili seemed to live in alone.
"This? This is where you live?"
"Of course! It is all I need!" Lili smiled as she unlocked the door.
The inside was rather impressively furnished; all her furniture was pink and surprisingly cutesy. Asuka found her heart beating a bit faster as Lili sat down, gesturing for her to sit beside her.
"So, Hwoarang huh?"
Asuka groaned, "Don't even get me started on that. I don't even know how Xiaoyu came to that conclusion. The guy is a major douche!"
Lili giggled, "Oh yeah? Yeah, I don't see how you would be into him at all."
"I mean, have you seen the way he looks at my cousin? Clearly, I am also not his type either." Asuka jested, nudging Lili a bit.
Lili simply smiled, "Eh, I'm not one to throw stones at glass houses."
Asuka turned to Lili, "Huh? Wha,t you got a crush on Jin or something?"
For some reason, that thought kind of hurt Asuka's chest. Of course, that was probably normal fofriends's, right? To get jealous over their friend having feelings for someone?
These thoughts were definitely squashed as Lili shook her head, "No, No, he's not the Kazama I have my eyes on."
She smirked, snaking her hand into Asuka's.
Asuka's cheeks burned even brighter as she looked down at their hands, before looking into Lili's eyes.
This was normal for friends, right?
Lili let go of Asuka's hand, and the Osakan immediately missed the contact.
"We should probably start studying," Lili said, her face redder than Asuka had ever seen it.
Asuka nodded, her mouth opening to agree but closing when nothing came out.
Lili pulled out her book, "Now let's begin..."
45 seconds, that was all it took for Asuka to decide that this was more than friendship. That Asuka needed Lili in a way that wouldn't be satisfied by a "just friends" label.
She reached over and closed Lili's book, causing the Monegasque to look at her.
Asuka searched the other girl's face for anything, a sign of not wanting this, a sign of Asuka reading this all wrong.
She reached her hand up, placing it on Lili's shoulder.
Lili huffed, "Please..."
There it was.
Asuka surged forward, lips smashing together awkwardly, but in a way that was necessary to be done.
Teeth clashed as Asuka pushed Lili down onto the sofa, positioning herself over her. The Monegasque's hands danced their way to her back as the Osakan refused to break contact.
Asuka rested herself on top of Lili, she drew back for a breath, a smile on Lili's face as she just looked at her.
Lips reconnected, words unnecessary as contact sounded out everything needed. The long stares, the quiet moments. All of those didn't matter now that they were here.
A knock came to the door, and Lili lightly tapped Asuka's side.
"Yeah?" Lili called out, refusing to get out from under Asuka.
"Madame Lili, I have brought you your supplies for the week." An elder voice came from the other side of the door.
Lili smiled, "Thank you, Sebastian! I'll come get it in a moment! Enjoy your night off."
The sounds of bags rustling were heard,d and a soft chuckle with it.
Asuka looked down at Lili, "Sebastian?"
"My butler, he has served my family for many years," Lili explained, wrapping her hands around Asuka. She pulled her down a bit, sucking lightly on her neck.
Asuka hummed a little before pressing a finger to Lili's lips, "Just how rich are you?"
"Well, I am a de Rochefort. Emilie de Rochefort to be frank!" Lili explained.
Asuka's eyes widened, "Wait, as in the de Rochefort oil company?"
"The same." Lili giggled, "I'm the heiress to the fortune, but when I got accepted to the Polytechnic, I really did want to try roughing it on my own. Sebastian, however, for some reason still thinks of me as a child and tries to take care of me."
"Alright, that...makes sense." Asuka nodded.
Lili smiled, "Honestly, doing this was more than worth it just to meet you. Why did you start talking to me?"
"Honestly, I just thought you were lonely. I wanted you to have at least one friend," Asuka admitted, resting her head against Lili's chest.
Lili smiled, lightly playing with Asuka's hair, "Well, you definitely took care of that, huh, my love?"
Asuka looked up again at Lili, a smile gracing her face, "I did."
---
"Xiaoyu, hey, it's me, Asuka. I'd like to take you up on your offer for the group date."
"Really? That's awesome! Want me to tell Hwoarang?"
"Nah, leave him out of it. My girlfriend and I are more than happy to attend."
"OMG! I am so happy for you! You'll have to tell us all about it."
"Don't worry, I will."
Asuka hung up the phone before joining Lili on the sofa once more. Lili rested her head on Asuka's shoulder the moment she was close enough.
The two girls sat there, just enjoying each other's company. Hands intertwined, their entire futures ahead of them.
And it all started with a look.
