Chapter Text
The light above Eunho's head flickered as a group of rabbits jumped around him. In this heavenly garden, there are many Seraphbun that would accompany the angels when they were resting from their duties. However, the garden was not as crowded as one might imagine, instead it looks like there is no one there. Angels were indeed hard-working creatures. It was also possible that this was because of its location, which was not commonly accessible, yet strategic; floating at the very top. You could see all of life here. Whether it was the Arbiter Tower where the Archangels busied themselves overseeing heaven law, or the lives of ordinary angels at the bottom. Or even the Heaven Gate, whose majesty was clearly visible protecting heaven from the outside world; where Eunho's eyes were now focused.
This garden was here for a reason; God had gifted this entertainment to the virtuous angels. It was divine, from God, creating a calming aura that made it a sacred place for heavenly beings. That was why the rabbits that purified souls lived here.
But Eunho was not here to seek tranquillity, he wanted to let go of his wild thoughts.
“They say there is a place outside the gate that cannot be explained by light. Pure rabbits, tell me, is that true?”
Seraphbun, The Light Rabbits, only hopped around Eunho faster and faster. Were they happy? Perhaps they wanted to purify the angel. Eunho shouldn't be here. This garden is only accessible to high-ranking angels. Ordinary angels shouldn't be here. But these rabbits are indeed grand; they know which souls are pure. They accepted him even though Eunho was here by cheating, taking advantage of the access granted to his closest relative.
“Is it true that there are colours there that we have never seen?”
Seraphbun realised that there was something else among them. They blinked rapidly as if they were about to explode, then disappeared just like that. Eunho wondered what had just happened, but not for long because after that he was surprised by the presence of another angel.
“Do you want to see something that even God did not create?”
Eunho was slightly startled from his sitting position. Fortunately, the archangel who surprised him held Eunho's back so he wouldn't fall. Eunho's wings slightly touched the Archangel's face, because only those wings were the barrier between their physical closeness at that moment.
“Hyung! You suprised me. I thought you were in a meeting with the elders?”
Eunho looked up, meeting Yejun's calm gaze. His eyes focused on Yejun's eyes, then moved upwards. Yejun's holo always shone differently from other angels, which Eunho always liked.
“I finished it early.”
“But didn't you say yesterday that you were going to study human laws? Isn't that something important?”
“I'm more interested in angels who like to ask unusual questions.”
Yejun lowered himself further, bringing his face closer to Eunho's. In Eunho's red eyes, he could see pure confusion. It was truly unusual for an angel. Even those eyes alone had caused a commotion in the past. The owner of those red eyes, which only devils should have, had wings that shone brighter than any Yejun had ever seen. Yejun believed that this beautiful entity had been brought into existence just for him. Added colour to his monotonous life; a colour that even God had not created for other creatures.
“I'm just... curious!” Eunho got up from his seat, but his eyes were still fixed on Yejun's blue steadfastness. His hand reached for Yejun's, hoping for forgiveness from the wild thoughts he couldn't control. “That's not wrong, right?”
“No, of course not. Curiosity is the beginning of wisdom.”
Eunho was even more amazed. He had always admired Yejun. Yejun, who saved him from emptiness. Yejun, who taught him to spread his wings. Yejun, who always gave him the opportunity to explore.
But only if you are strong enough to bear the consequences.
Yejun couldn't help but make Eunho even happier. He placed his hand on the top of Eunho's head, giving it a gentle stroke. “I got something to do today. If you want to know, meet me tomorrow at the place where you can find any information in this world.”
“Really? May I?”
“Of course, my dear Eunho-ya. Remember that I will always support you. I will wait for you, where your heart believes I will be.”
Yejun disappeared in a matter of seconds. High-level angels are indeed different. Without waiting long, Eunho flew away. He was smart enough to know that the answer was the heavenly library.
🕊🕊🕊
“So tell me, did you find what you wanted to know in that book?”
Eunho blinked several times before answering. Yejun understood that he had made Eunho nervous, a habit that had never changed since Eunho was a child.
“Ah, this is just… a general border book.” Eunho stammered in explanation. He always felt afraid of his curiosity, because after all, lowly angels like him should not question God's laws that forbid or command certain things. “I promise I won't open the red seal!”
“I understand. There's no need to be wary of me, Eunho-ya.” Yejun guided Eunho's empty hand to reach for the red-sealed book not far above his head. Eunho was focused on the book, his heartbeat overcoming the trembling in his hands. Instantly, the world became noisy for him, as Yejun's hand guided him to stroke the surface of the book. His fingers eventually moved of their own accord, mimicking the motion to break the seal. His fingers left behind a fluttering sensation that finally caused the book to open completely.
“Besides, the seal was only made so that the weak wouldn't get lost. I know you're not one of them.”
“You always trust me, Hyung.”
“It's good that you finally understand.”
Eunho's eyes began to dart around, even though there weren't many people in the library, but he moved as if someone would catch him. But thanks to Yejun's presence, he was able to relax a little.
A question then popped out of his mouth, “It turns out the outside world is very interesting. But I don't understand why it's forbidden.”
“I don't understand either,” Yejun replied, an answer that surprised Eunho because it came from someone as angelic as him. Yejun then continued, “but I understand why you are so interested. Sometimes, we can only understand light if we’ve seen shadows.”
It was a bold answer that made Eunho feel brave too. Yejun verified, “Don’t you agree?”
Eunho nodded enthusiastically. He was sure, there was nothing wrong with his mind all this time. As long as Yejun was there with him, he could seek the beauty of freedom.
Eunho looked down at the book again. The page was filled with writing that was much denser than the ordinary books he read at the library. There were diagrams about territorial boundaries, notes about the world outside of heavenly supervision, and several sections that looked like reports. He read quickly, even though he didn't understand everything.
“This is about the gate,” he said nervously.
Yejun did not reply, letting Eunho enjoy his own time. Eunho continued reading a few more lines before finally stopping.
“Strange. It says here that angels can actually pass through the gate.” He looked up again, looking completely confused. “But then why does everyone say we can't?”
Yejun leaned his shoulder against the bookshelf behind them. He seemed to be thinking about something, although his smile remained calm as usual.
“Sometimes things are forbidden not because they are impossible to do, but because not everyone is ready to see what lies beyond.”
Eunho stared at him. That answer didn't really answer his question. But somehow, it made sense.
“Have you ever seen it, Hyung?”
“Hm? Seen what?”
“The outside world...?”
The Archangel just smiled. It made Eunho even more curious, but he didn't dare to ask any further questions.
“I just want to know what the world outside is like.”
Yejun pushed himself away from the bookshelf and stood up straight. He moved closer to Eunho. “You always think about unusual things.”
“Is that bad?”
“I've answered this many times, but I'll keep answering as many times as you want to hear it. It's not.”
He raised his hand and smoothed Eunho's hair that had fallen in front of his eyes, “That's what makes you different.”
He gently stroked Eunho's cheek and ran his thumb over Eunho's lips. Yejun is a soul who loved Eunho deeply, and he would never doubt himself to treat Eunho gently. Even since Eunho was first found and cared for by him.
Eunho never really knew how to react when Yejun touched him like that. He closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the angel's majestic touch on his face. Yejun's hand was so light that he wanted more. Perhaps that was why his face was flushed now.
“You're so warm, like a human.”
“Have you ever touched a human, Hyung?”
Yejun had never. He had never been interested in creatures as foolish as humans.
“What if I said I had, would you be jealous?”
Eunho closed the book in his hand a little too hard without realising it, his elbow bumping into the bookshelf behind him, causing several books to fall and almost hit him. Curiosity killed the cat, and this was not meant as a warning but seemed to be something that literally almost endangered him.
“Hua!! I-I'm sorry!”
Eunho closed his eyes, thinking that Yejun, who was standing nearby, would also be hit by the falling books. The bookshelves in this library were so tall, and no one knew how painful it would be to be hit by a thick book falling from such a height. But when he opened his eyes, he heard no sound and felt no pain at all. It turned out that Yejun's wings had protected him from a silly incident. Once again, Eunho was amazed by him. Yejun's wings were so strong that they could hold the books, unlike his weak wings that took years to be able to fly.
“Are you surprised? Nothing hits you, right?”
“I’m okay. Thank you, Hyung. You always protect me.”
“As I should,” Yejun replied with his dazzling smile. He returned one of the books that Eunho had been holding.
“You have to return that book before someone sees it,” Yejun continued.
“Ah, right!”
🕊🕊🕊
He was surrounded by angels who watched him warily. He could not remember where he came from or what he had done to be treated this way. He was only certain that Heaven had always been his home. But the angels whispered among themselves, making Eunho feel that his presence there was a mistake.
Look, his eyes are not like ours. Isn't that an unholy colour? What if he is not one of us? But his wings say otherwise, as does his halo. Are they really his?
Amidst the noisy voices, Yejun came to greet him. Yejun's smile, which he saw for the first time, was the only one that felt non-judgmental there. Yejun checked Eunho's wings, which were stiffly folded at the time, completely unable to flap.
“Do your wings hurt?” he asked softly.
Little Eunho hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly.
Yejun examined the wings carefully, his fingers barely touching the feathers. “Never flown,” he muttered.
One of the angels behind them said, “Archangel, we don't even know where he came from.”
Yejun turned with the same smile, but this time his voice was much firmer. “From now on, he is under my supervision. Any objections?”
The Archangels were God's hands. So the angels gathered there asked no further questions. Yejun's unilateral announcement was absolute law.
Eunho blinked before his mind returned to the present.
In front of him stood a bright blue Seraphbun, the same rabbit that often accompanied him in the past. When Yejun wasn't there to supervise his training, that rabbit was with him. He hadn't seen the blue Seraphbun in a long time since he had learned to fly. Especially after seeing the rabbit's response, Eunho was convinced it was the same rabbit. It was the only very polite rabbit Eunho had ever met, a rabbit that would bow instead of jumping around.
“You must be Blubie! So you're here now, wandering around near the gate!”
That's right, Eunho was here now. This heavenly gate looked different when someone stood right in front of it.
From other places in Heaven, the gate always looked like it was part of the sky itself. But from this close distance, Eunho realised that the gate was not only large, but also felt alive. It was as if the thin light that covered it moved like something that breathed.
Eunho stopped a few steps before the boundary. Blubie followed him.
He crouched down slightly in front of him. “You remember me, right? You used to appear often when Yejun-hyung wasn't around.”
Blubie nodded, which looked like a bow.
“You're so cute,” Eunho muttered, stroking the rabbit's head. “Still so polite.”
He stood up again and turned towards the heavenly gate towering in front of him.
“So now you guard the gate, huh?”
Blubie sat quietly in front of the gate.
The air around the gate was different from the air in other places in Heaven. Eunho's wings moved slightly on his back, his feathers vibrating softly as if responding to something he couldn't even see.
“So this is the heaven border,” he muttered.
He raised his head to look up. The two sides of the gate towered so high that the tops were almost lost in the heavenly light. All this time, Eunho had always thought the gate was a strictly guarded boundary. But in fact, there was nothing here but him and Blubie.
If Yejun knew he was here, the Archangel would probably tell him to go back. Or maybe he would just stare at him for a long time before saying that Eunho could always choose his own path.
He glanced back for a moment. There really were no other angels around the gate now, which was actually quite strange when he thought about it. Maybe no one had ever come here.
The light covering the gate moved slowly, almost like the surface of very calm water.
“I just want to touch it a little, okay,” he said to Blubie.
His finger touched the light. It didn't feel like touching a solid object. Eunho pressed a little further. The moment the halo above his head flashed, he immediately pulled his hand back, his heart leaping in surprise.
“Eh? Why did it open?”
The gate opened. Its movement was so smooth that it barely made a sound. The opening was only a crack, but it was enough for Eunho to pass through.
The air coming from beyond felt very different. And it sucked Eunho out.
His mind told him he should back away now. Touching the gate was already a mistake, let alone passing through it. No angel had ever done so without permission. But at the same time, his curiosity felt even stronger.
Out there were colours we had never seen before.
The sentence popped into his head again.
“I'm just going out for a bit, okay? Please keep it a secret between us. We're friends, right?” he said, persuading Blubie.
The blue Seraphbun jumped and flew around him. It seemed to be chanting something that only rabbits could understand, then made Eunho's wings and halo invisible.
Eunho nodded, saying thanks. Then, as soon as his body crossed the boundary of light, everything changed instantly. He was dragged quite far away, to who knows where. When Eunho opened his eyes, he was already in a different sky.
Eunho couldn't stop gasping at the sight of the bustling world. He had landed in a place that was completely new to him.
So this was it, the human world.
🕊🕊🕊
Eunho did not understand how he had ended up back in Heaven's hall. Moments earlier, he had still been on Earth, still trying to understand his own body, which felt unfamiliar after becoming so close to someone he had just met there. Everything happened too quickly after that. A heavenly portal of light suddenly appeared before him, and guardian angels descended with unfriendly expressions. He was paralysed, then dragged into the portal. When he regained consciousness, he was standing before the elders, who were glaring at him.
“Demon contamination has been detected,” one of the elders said. His voice was not loud, but it echoed throughout the room. “The laws of heaven have been violated.”
Eunho's consciousness automatically returned when he heard the word ‘Demon’. “I am friends with a good Demons, they are not at all what you think!” he began to speak, but his words were cut off when another elder raised his hand.
“There is no mercy.”
On the side of the room, Yejun stood opposite the elders and in their midst, Eunho was tied to a chair. His face was calm as usual, but his gaze had not left Eunho since the trial began.
“We angels are blessed with God's infinite generosity. Is there no leniency for that poor angel?” It was Yejun's voice.
There were a total of seven Archangels in the room. All the Archangels gathered. Eunho, who saw the familiar faces, was confused, wondering if what he had done was truly unforgivable.
Another Archangel spoke up, “He doesn't seem to know what he did.”
Several elders turned to look at him. “Ignorance is no excuse. He was under the guidance of the noble Archangel. He should have known that his actions would have consequences.”
The room fell silent again after that. The decision did not need to be repeated twice.
Eunho barely heard what was said afterwards, about temporary detention and further investigation. All those words sounded distant. The only voice he could hear clearly was the one in his own head, blaming himself for how stupid he had been to cause trouble for Yejun-hyung.
🕊🕊🕊
Eunho was temporarily detained here, in a Heaven Prison. Eunho sat on the floor, his back against the cold wall. His attention kept returning to the halo above his head.
The circle of light was no longer the same colour. The soft gold now had dark shadows in it, as if it had been stained with dirty ink.
The guards did not say much when they detained him here. Only one short sentence that the elders would decide what to do after the full report was received.
Since then, no one had come.
Several times he cried, regretting what he had done. But he never regretted meeting his kind-hearted Demon friend on earth. He began to miss him.
“Hamin…”
Footsteps sounded afterwards, echoing and giving him hope. Eunho turned around as soon as his cell door opened.
It was Yejun. Yejun entered, his eyes immediately finding Eunho.
“I heard you overwhelmed the guards.”
Eunho shrugged slightly. “I just banged on the door.”
Yejun closed the door behind him. He walked closer, “Do you realise something has changed in you, Eunho-ya?”
“Really?”
“Your eyes seem to know a lot, you are no longer my innocent little angel. Did you find something that makes you happy in the human world?”
Without Yejun expecting it, Eunho bit his own wrist until blood dripped.
“I found a colour I've never seen in heaven. This colour,” he said, showing Yejun.
Yejun smiled. “It's the same colour as your eyes.”
“I know, someone said the same thing to me.”
Yejun suddenly moved closer aggressively, pressing Eunho against the wall.
“Who was it?” Yejun asked, “Who did you meet there?”
“A demon, he's nice, Hyung. Really.”
“I see,” Yejun said, but his grip on Eunho’s wrist didn’t loosen at all. He pressed on Eunho’s bite mark until it healed with his healing power. “Do you want to meet him again?”
“Can I?”
Yejun pulled Eunho to sit on his lap. In an instant, he snapped his fingers, and then a message appeared and floated beside his head.
“The elders have received a report about this.”
Eunho read it quickly, “According to them, I changed just because I came down to earth?”
“It's not just it. Something happened there.”
Eunho frowned slightly. “I didn't even do anything.”
The Archangel smiled slightly, “I don't remember ever teaching you how to lie so convincingly.”
Eunho swallowed his own saliva. For a moment, he forgot that Yejun was an Archangel who delivered God's revelations, so of course he knew everything that happened.
“Changes in halos don't usually happen without reason.”
Eunho held his breath unconsciously.
“But Earth is indeed an interesting place.” He pulled Eunho's neck closer, looking at Eunho with an expression that was difficult to read. “Sometimes the creatures there do things that are unusual to us. For example, something you did with that Demon.”
“You know, Hyung...?”
That small smile appeared again on Yejun's face. “Was it good?”
Eunho's heart was beating very fast. He had been introduced to worldly pleasures by that Demon, something that was taboo in Heaven. And now Yejun knows. Eunho closed his eyes to neutralise the nervousness that was overwhelming him.
When he felt Yejun's touch on his stomach, saying, “He must have entered you this far,” then his touch moved to Eunho's lips and forced his tongue out, “then here.”
Yejun was right. Eunho copulated with his demon friend, Eunho knew the worldly pleasures that clouded his holiness.
Then the Archangel made an offer that Eunho couldn't refuse.
“I can make you feel good like that too. Doing it with me might neutralise your tainted holiness.”
Eunho nodded. He didn't really care what would happen to him anymore. He just remembered how much he liked everything the demon did to him. Then he imagined Yejun wanting to do the same thing to him, Yejun-hyung, whom he always admired, he wanted it so badly.
Yejun moved forward to kiss him, pulling Eunho's waist, which was on his lap, closer. Something spread through his mouth, a liquid that he then swallowed. After that, everything felt hot; his stomach, his vision, every part of his body.
It was the first time Eunho had seen Yejun's lust-filled eyes. When he brought his manhood into Eunho's hole, he kissed Eunho even deeper.
“Hyung, it feels good—”
“You want more?”
Eunho nodded shyly as his fingers gripped Yejun's shoulders tighter. Yejun thrust deeper, feeling the walls of Eunho's hole tighten around him. Eunho almost fell backwards when Yejun came inside him, so Yejun held Eunho's back to prevent that. His other hand moved to Eunho's backside, his fingers sliding in, creating a gap for Yejun's fluid to escape from Eunho’s hole because he didn't want to pull his penis out at all.
“Hyung, my halo isn’t pure anymore…”
Yejun caressed Eunho's cheek, wet with his own sweat. “Doing it once is not enough. Will you trust me?”
“I will, Hyung,” said Eunho, nodding and smiling.
Of course, the halo would never return to its original colour. The dark colour continued to change as Yejun came again and again inside Eunho. It changed completely to a bright red colour; the same colour as his eyes.
Along with Eunho's halo changing colour, its shape also changed. It became something like a crown, and at the tip of each crown were eyes that began to open.
The pleasure led Eunho's mind to another possibility. That he might not want to be in a heaven that restrained him, that he wanted to feel this forever.
And at the same time, the halos of the Archangels flashed. Conveying a message that read,
New assignment,
Condition: A Seraphim has committed an unforgivable sin.
Consequence: Cast out of heaven.
