Hey, Dr. Abbot. Afraid I have to take a sick leave today, came home with a fever this morning and it keeps coming back.

Copy that. I’ll ask if someone from day shift wants to pull a double.

“Hey, Dana. Ask every doctor that comes if they want to take an extra shift.” Robby taps rapidly on central’s counter. Dana looks at him through the top of her eyeglasses and hums an approval.
“Cass, wanna take a double shift?” Dana asks when Cassie comes to her asking about a free room.
Cassie shrugs apologetically. “Date night. Sorry. I’ll ask the next person I see, though.”
“Thanks, doll!”
When working a case with Mel, Cassie turns to her when they leave the patient's sight. “I know you won’t pull a double shift, but can you ask the next doctor you see? Dana asked earlier.”
Mel smiles. “Yeah, sure! Maybe I can ask Trin. She likes the night shift.”
“Thanks, Mel!” Cassie taps her on the shoulder before leaving for another patient.
Mel searches for Trinity and finds her in the break room, gulping down coffee.
“Hi! They need someone to pick up a night shift. Are you up for it?” She asks.
Trinity’s mouth presses to a flat line. “Can’t. Have plans tonight, melanosome.”
“But do you know anyone who might?”
“I’ll go ask Huckleberry.” Trinity sets the mug down and drags Mel through the halls of the department. “I need your help on a case.”
They find Dennis charting next to central.
“Huckleberry, do you want to try dabbling with night shift?” Trinity asks from behind him.
“When an opportunity presents itself, sure.”
“They need one doctor for tonight,” Mel says.
“Well, not tonight,” Dennis answers, sounding disappointed.
“Well, we tried.” Trinity shrugs.
“Make sure to ask, Den!” Mel says when Trinity drags them away.
“I will.” Dennis shrugs.
Victoria approaches not a few minutes later. “Have you seen Dr. Langdon? Labs for our patient are up.”
“Nope,” Dennis replies, briefly looking up. “Hey, you’re an intern. Do you wanna pick up a night shift?”
Victoria looks at Dennis like he’s grown a second head. “Gods, no. I’m going to sleep after this. I’ll ask Samira, though. She likes picking up double shifts.”
“Alright.” Dennis nods. “Also, maybe you wanna be in the street team, too?”
“I’ll think about it!” Victoria says when she walks away.
“Samira!” Victoria calls out when Samira emerges from a curtained room. “They’re asking for someone to take a night shift. I thought you might be interested?”
“I’ll get back to you,” Samira replies with a smile. “Thanks, Vic.”

Haven’t worked the night shift for a while.
I can follow the patients I had this morning.
