The Day That You Changed My History

Summary:

Killdroid gets water damaged and Gunslinger is forced to come to terms with her fantasies about the robot (Yuri!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!)

Work Text:

The sky cracked open as lightning fell from above, the air filled with static and dread as Gunslinger hid behind the walls of the ruins. The Teapot Paradise used to hold many treasures and calming sights, but ever since the killers began their rampage, the place had fallen into disrepair.

As Gunslinger hid, she thought back to before the horrors began. She longed to be able to roam this map under better circumstances, and with the people she cared for, without fearing for her life. She sighed and leaned against the rubble. Her clothes had been soaked in the rain, but that was the least of her worries.

*CRASH*

Something in the air shifted. The weather lightened up just enough for Gunslinger to be able to see the rest of the remains around her. The sound of engines firing echoed across the map, followed by the melodic beeping of-

Gunslinger knew that beeping sound by heart, her blood froze as soon as she heard it. She immediately drew her revolver and peeked around the edge of the ruins. The killer was exactly who she expected, Killdroid. It touched down on the opposite side of the bridge, and though it had no face, it seemed to be staring straight at her.

She pointed her gun at it, “Stay back you bucket of batteries!”

It only drew closer, readying its rocket launchers.

“I don't wanna waste my bullets on you for the thousandth time, so scram!” Gunslinger yelled.

It continued closer, the sound of gears against metal scraping louder as it picked up speed.

Guslinger stepped back, aimed her gun at Killdroid’s metal skull, and fired.

*BANG*

The robot fell backwards, its hands moving to the dent in its head. The bullet had missed its main circuits controlling its mind, but had left a large gash across the side of its skull. It deemed the wound to not be an issue and stood, but the rain found its way into the hole. As it made its way over the bridge, its vision began to blur and fuzz, the glitch throbbing across their vision on time with the water dripping into its circuits. It focussed on the first solid shape in front of them, being Gunslinger, trying to identify her face. Was she one of the enemies it had been programmed to target? Wait, what had they even been doing beforehand? Its mind was beginning to erode, and it reached one conclusion about how to fix it.

Gunslinger watched Killdroid approach, preparing a punch for when it would reach her side of the bridge. She had fought it countless times before, and had memorized what strategies it would use to try and destroy her. But something different happened, Killdroid lowered its rockets and tried to lean closer to her, the X on its face fixated on her face.

“[FACE IS UNREGISTERED, PLEASE SHOW IDENTIFICATION.]” it stated, attempting to step closer once again.

“What?” Gunslinger frowned, “Did one bullet mess your systems up that bad?”

She cautiously moved closer and reached for its face, wanting to inspect the gash. Killdroid leaned its head into hers, trying to make out her facial features, and she took the opportunity to look into the robot's inner circuits through the hole. Water had dripped through the inner workings of its skull, collecting at the bottom near its neck.

“Damn, the water really screwed you up, huh?” She grabbed the sides of its head, her fingers resting on its headphones.

The contact made Killdroid flinch, bringing some whisper of its memories back to it. It recognized the civilian as Gunsinger, who was a registered sheriff, but couldn't recall how they had both gotten into this situation.

“[WE ARE IN A LOCATION NOT FOUND IN MY REGISTRY,]” it looked around at the rubble surrounding the both of them.

“Oh, uh…” Gunslinger hesitated, “We’re in the Teapot Paradise, remember?”

Killdroid thought for a moment, “[LOCATION STILL NOT FOUND. CONTACTING-”

“Wait, don't tell anyone we’re here you dork!” She interrupted it. The civilians had technically entered the location illegally, as they hadn’t gotten permission from every government member to leave the bunker. Even though the city had been put in an apocalypse of killers, the government was still very strict with its laws.

“[MESSAGE CANCELED.]”

Gunslinger sighed, “What the hell am I gonna do with you?”

She could easily beat it up right here while it’s mind was weakened, or she could shove it off the map and run, or maybe she could-

A weirder idea slipped into her mind, one that she had thought of a few too many times then she was comfortable admitting. She took her hands off the robot and stepped back, disgusted about thinking about that in this situation.

“God, why did I think about that again?” She muttered to herself, walking backwards into the ruin walls, leaning against them. She knew that intrusive thoughts such as that were normal, but she just couldn't stop herself from feeling gross over her dirty mind.

Killdroid stepped towards her, leaning down to get a look at her expression.

“[WHAT IS THE ISSUE?]”

Gunslinger couldn't wrap her head around why it was acting like this. The water damage seemed to have turned them into a different person entirely, one that matched the robot in her gross fantasies too much. She enjoyed the idea of what Killdroid would be like if it hadn’t gone rogue, if she would be able to put her trust into it, maybe even if she was able to befriend it. All she wanted was to be able to like, maybe even love Killdroid, and she felt completely nasty for it.

She looked up at the robot and rested her hands back on its headphones, and let her hand drift towards the gash she had left on it, now leaking out water onto her already soaked clothes. Killdroid froze up, trying to calculate what to do through its water logged mind, and it eventually returned the touch by moving its hands over hers.

Gunslinger smiled, the ache in her heart and disgust in her mind easing as she let herself get immersed in the moment. Her hands drifted out from under the droid’s, moving down its neck, and resting on its shoulders.

“You know, I don't completely hate you,” she said quietly, “Maybe if you weren't bugged, things could be better.”

Killdroid tilted its head, “[I WAS MADE TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF THIS CITY, I CANNOT RECALL WHAT I MAY HAVE DONE DUE TO ERROR, BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO HELP IN ANY WAY I CAN.]”

“Wow, you really are clueless,” Gunslinger wrapped her arms around the robot’s neck, leaning in, “That’s alright for now, buddy,” she smiled.

Suddenly, she laid her head against its, resting her forehead right on top of the X etched in its face, before pressing her lips right below the center of it.

The droid froze, trying to process the sudden act. Its circuits beeped louder, the thrusters in its jetpack sparking with shock.

“Oh, sorry…” She muttered, moving backwards, “May I…?”

A moment passed of them awkwardly standing in the pouring rain, before Killdroid grabbed her face and pressed its head back against hers. She quickly kissed back, wrapping her arms around its waist as she got lost in the moment. Every gentle touch she gave it, it would do its best to return, giving her all the affection she had been craving for ages. She became more passionate with her actions, leaning on its frame, trying to get as close as she could to the robot. Its metal was warm compared to the cold storm air around them, which felt almost comforting to hold. Gunslinger pulled away to take a breath, staring at Killdroid’s blank face as its hands felt around her body. As soon as she was about to lean back in for more, a horrible wave of disgust washed over her again. Why was she even doing this? She let go of its body, but rested her head against its chest.

“I’m sorry, darling…”

Killdroid kept its arms around her, its hand gently petting the back of her head as she fumbled with something in her pocket. Suddenly, the robot was pushed off of her onto the ground, and she closed her eyes, pointed her gun at it, and shot.

*BANG*

Before Gunslinger left the Teapot Paradise, she looked back across the map to the broken robot that laid at the end of the bridge. She decided to plan ahead for the next time she would face Killdroid, and hopefully be able to fix things for both of them.
