Chapter Text
The rain outside pitter-pattered all around , thundering crashs coming every once and awhile. Inside wasnt much better. The wind outside howled fiercely as dim lights swung about , soft grime covering the walls. The orphanage was a scary place before and especially after the war , it didnt treat its residents fondly. One kind stranger , however , was a saviour to one of the children.
Kane Ludegard Vivinis , a rugged old geezer , was a veteran of the previous war. He was beefy and sharp at the same time , an exemplary soldier. He wandered inside the building , wearing a large olive green overcoat , underneath was a simply grey wife-beater and stocky jeans.
His short frazzled black hair blocked his sight for abit before he pushed it aside , scanning the area. The look in his eyes unreadable. Slowly , he went over to a nearby counter and spoke with the person by it. Only a few short exchamges before he was brought into where the children were kept.
The man browsed through , rather uninterested with the majority. But , one specimen had caught his eye. The boy he spotted , looked rather unique as he had rather effeminate features , silky white hair and hawk-like violet eyes. Kane felt enamored , like some sort of magnetic force.
Stopping dead in his tracks. He simply pointed towards the boy. "Him , what's he all about?" He grunted softly , before the person accompanying him began to explain. "Well..The little one just popped up on our doorstep one day. In the same state he's in right now..All he spouted was utter babbling , something about a mantis-" They were quickly cut off by Kane , as he had made his decision. "Give me him."
"...That was fast , alright then , ill set up the paperwork in just a minute.." The other was shocked , but the boy grinned. The youngin was named Alfeto by the orphanage , the name correlating to a supposed angel that had washed over the remains of the war.
It only took around 2 or so hours until Alfeto was officially put under the care of Kane. The older man scooped the boy up with a daunting look yet with some gentleness. Alfeto was dressed up in what looked like a dark purple cossack , its silken texture in contrast to Kane's rough coat. You could also say the same for their bodies.
As the rain raged on , the pair hurried off to the vet's dusty old shoebox of a car. The war left the old bastard broker than ever. Then again , the entire economy was in shambles. They both piled into the beater and drove off.
Kane was hyper-focused on the bumpy , rattling road , his hand shaking and sputtering with every clatter of machinery , meanwhile Alfeto was still smiling , glimmer in his eye as he occasionally looked at Kane. It was like there was nothing behind those big pretty eyes of his , but judging from what the man heard , that was far from the truth.
After an excruciating amount of time , the two had finally made it to Kane's rather damp and depressing apartment. The man got out of the car without any rush , making his way around and opening the door for Alfeto.
The boy immediately clung to him without any notice , just standing there and clinging to his leg. "Daddy.." was all he whispered. Kane's heart nearly stopped , he was caught completely off-guard by the sudden and intense affection. His knees almost buckled. Face flushed of which he desperately tried to hide..Alfeto knew exactly what he was doing , and had a smirk etched on his tiny face.
"No , no , not now you...Ugh.." Kane grumbled , lifting up and carrying the boy over his shoulder just to avoid seeing his face. However this proved to be difficult for his worm frame after a few flights of stairs , so he settled on just holding the boys hand and leading him up.
