Work Text:
Wukong will remember the day he met his Moon until the day the stars burned out.
It started normal. As normal as could be. Too normal for how important and wonderful the day would become.
He was partoling around the area that a large group of humans were camped at, watching as they started building houses and shops at the foot of Flower Fruit Mountain, occasionally snatching one of their tasty and fat animals for a snack(these humans were thin and sinewy, not tasty at all, so he didn't want to eat them really), curious at what they were doing. He didn't like how close they were to the Mountain, especially with all the new cubs starting to wander away from their parents, so he decided to escalate in scaring them away.
And he never did anything halfway.
Climbing into the thick leaves of the tall trees to shriek and hoot at them in the dead of night, waiting for them to wander close to the brush for wood or wild fruits before making a challenge at them, grinding his teeth and snarling until they ran away screaming, snatching more and more of their livestock to try to starve them out(most of which he brought home to the new cubs. They're growing, they need good food!), even snatching some of the slower moving humans to eat in plain view in a tree, their wood and stone arrows bouncing uselessly off his hard stone skin as they tried to save their companion.
He was actually starting to have fun scaring them all like this when

A fist slammed into his nose.
He felt the cartilage give way for the first time in decades, since he first started training with his Mom, and tasted copper blood on his tongue from where it rushed angrily down from his nostrils as his body hit the ground from the force and shock. Pain filled him for a split second before his healing reacted and closed the angry flood of blood, and he looked up at what hit him, fangs bared and face throbbing as a snarl rose to his throat-
His fangs were quickly hidden away and his breathing stopped at the sight of the utterly glorious being snarling back at him.
It was another monkey demon, rising from the darkness at his feet like a beautiful nature spirit being born from his own shadow. Fur as dark as midnight with a rainbow sheen that moved and shimmered in the moonlight, expressive honey brown eyes that glittered and sparked at him with pure fury, three sets of lotus petals ears in glowing colors that fluttered prettily in the wind, a braid filled with trinkets trailing down behind one set to settle on his chest, and a blood red mask spread like a butterfly across his face.
"While you stop going after them!? Do you have any idea how difficult it is to study humans when idiots like you are constantly attacking them!? I have followed this group in their migration for seven years and they finally settled and were about to start having children, and then you came and started harassing them!" The mysterious monkey hissed, his long tail lashing through the air in his rage. "You could have just left them alone, they weren't doing anything, but no! You had to come down here like a-a gorilla and thump your chest! Oh yes, you're the biggest, baddest Sire on the mountain-"
"That's my Mom, actually." Shihou interrupted without thinking, a silly grin splitting his face as he tilts his head and tries to show his charming side to the pretty thing that he's pretty sure broke his nose. "I'm a close second, but I'm still just three centuries old~ The name's Shihou, Heir of Flower Fruit Mountain. What's your name, pretty?"
The darker monkey blushed scarlet, those lovely multicolored ears fluttering up a storm on the sides of his head before laying flat against his skull, much to Shihou's sadness. "Pre- Why on earth do you think I'm pretty!? Did I knock what little brains you have loose!?"
The golden monkey quickly stood up and snatched up the taller monkey's hands, smiling widely as he held them to his chest, the darker too shocked by the move to pull them away. "Who wouldn't think you're absolutely gorgeous? If anyone in my Troop saw you, they'd try to start a Courting Arena in your name! Speaking of which..." He tugged the hands in his grasp up and pressed a feather light kiss to pitch black claws, keeping eye contact as he does, "Could I get your name now?"
The blush on the darker monkey's face grew until his blood red mask nearly disappeared, his pretty lotus petal ears fluttering once more. ".... Mihou. Liu Er Mihou."
"Mihou..." Shihou breathed, and hummed at the sweet taste the name left on his tongue. "Beautiful, just like you. Now, come on!"
Mihou yelped as he was suddenly dragged by the powerful golden monkey like he weighed nothing, the apparent Prince heading straight for the mountain covered in flowering trees. "Go!? Go where!? I'm studying the humans!"
"Then you should come with me to my Troop!" Shihou chirped happily, turning around to easily pick up the taller monkey and leap into a tree, ignoring the yelp that came from his arms. "My Mama has all kinds of scrolls and books from demons and humans and celestials! And you shouldn't be by yourself, especially with how pretty and strong you are! Someone might try to courtnap you before you even knew what happened!"
Mihou wanted to find a way to argue. Heard thousands of things he could say to make the Monkey Prince set him down and leave him alone.
Some that ended bloodier than others.
But he didn't say a thing.
All he could do was look up at the handsome face of the one carrying him with the lower half of his face and chest stained with his own blood and a breath taking smile that stole his words like a midnight thief.
Well.
He might as well see this to the end, right? It's not like he'll end up living on Flower Fruit Mountain.
Right?
Right?
