pebbling around

Summary:

“Ow, stop, stop!” Kim Dokja cries. “It hurts! What the hell!?”

“Fuck!” Yoo Joonghyuk shouts simultaneously. As they impact again and again, Kim Dokja begins to lose all hope.

How long have they been stuck here like this? How long have they been tortured by this rowdy group of birds? He was even pooped on! He really couldn’t handle any more disrespect. He received more disrespect throughout this entire session than in the rest of his long life! He really can’t take any of this much longer…

Kim Dokja realizes how tough being a rock truly is.

Work Text:

In his entire life as a rock, he never expected to be disrespected this bad.

“Yoo Joonghyuk! Help me!”

“I can’t do anything!” Yoo Joonghyuk’s voice sounds just as strained and helpless. It was obvious that Yoo Joonghyuk couldn’t do anything! They were both nothing more than damn rocks in this world. This world—that was clearly prejudiced against rocks in general.

A bird had picked up Kim Dokja again. Kim Dokja can’t even catch what exactly it is, before he’s thrown back onto the ground with a resounding crack! He’d be afraid for his life if he hadn’t experienced this before. His poor, poor, poor, rocky life!

This is terrible. This is absolutely terrible. No words could describe how terrible this situation was.

Nearby, another bird picks up Yoo Joonghyuk again, clacking him against Kim Dokja.

“Kim Dokja. Get this bird off of me…” His voice comes out despondent. It’s clear he’s given up hope entirely too. How could they not give up hope? This situation has been going on for too long. Still, the birds seem endlessly amused. It’s like they’ll never stop, even if the sun goes down.

“I can’t!” Kim Dokja cries again. A bird picks him up again, before smashing him against Yoo Joonghyuk. Both of them yelp, of course. Even after this much time, Kim Dokja couldn’t help but react. It’s clearly the same for Yoo Joonghyuk. No matter how many times this occurs, each impact will be no less shocking.

He’s dropped onto the ground once more, as they pick up Yoo Joonghyuk again.

Dear god. Did he have to brace himself? He can spot the claws of the bird digging into the surface of Yoo Joonghyuk’s rocky skin. He could see each minute detail on him. The white poop that stained his head. The slight scars—white marks appearing all over his body—caused by the continuous impacts. Even if he doesn’t have a face, Kim Dokja could clearly tell that Yoo Joonghyuk is distressed. That’s because… Kim Dokja is in the exact same boat!

“Fuck!” Kim Dokja cries again. They clack against each other. It shouldn’t be surprising. What is surprising is the impact speed. It seems like as the birds continue to fuck around with them, throwing them against each other for their own amusement, they’ve grown in strength. Too much so.

When the birds had first started fucking around with them, they had been relatively gentle. Well, relatively gentle compared to now. The impact didn’t send shockwaves through Kim Dokja, prying a scream out of his damn rocky mouth. How is that even possible, you may ask? Well… even Kim Dokja doesn’t know.

It’s been so distressing that Kim Dokja has learned how to speak, he supposes. At least, he’s learned how to discern sounds of joy from these damn birds.

He still doesn’t know what type of birds they are! Are they seagulls, or crows, or doves, or pigeons? They must be seagulls or pigeons. Kim Dokja has had terrible experiences with those two types of birds.

All he sees are white-grey feathers, dirtied by the brown of dirt. Really, he hasn’t had a chance to see much, actually. When they’ve been endlessly throwing him against the ground, against the dirt, against anything in sight, he wouldn’t have a chance to. The only things he has seen are the surfaces he’s been impacting for the past however-long.

He’s gotten familiar with the pattern of the dirt granules within this area. And the concrete sidewalk that he’s been thrown against. He can even see spots where whitening has occurred from his continuous impacts. Or maybe they were where Yoo Joonghyuk had impacted the ground.

He doesn’t know. He really doesn’t know anything anymore. Not when he’s been thrown against the ground so many times. If he were a living being, he’d probably be dead ten times over.

Off to the side somewhere, he hears a scream from Yoo Joonghyuk. Just as he’s about to snicker at his despair, he’s picked up in the air once more. They carry him high, high up, higher than he’s ever been before this time. The bird’s claws dig into him.

If he could feel anything, it’d probably be painful. Even if he can’t feel, he can tell that they’re sharp. His vision is completely obscured.

In just a second, his vision worsens. Entirely. Because the bird carrying him midair decided it was a great idea to poop.

So now, instead of one pile of poop on his head, he had two. Great.

“Shit…” Kim Dokja groans.

What a terrible, terrible situation. Is he going to be freed soon? He can see the buildings that humans have made, the cars passing by on the roads. They’re so high up that if he’s dropped right now, he seriously might die. A rock dying sounds ridiculous, until you become a rock yourself and actually experience the trials and tribulations that rocks face.

If he isn’t going to die, then his lifespan would surely be halved. In the most literal sense. He’d probably be split in two. Two halves—one piece containing slightly more than the other. That would make sense.

He doesn’t have time to further that thought. Of course not. These birds are damn bastards, through and through. He’s dropped from a height that he couldn’t even fathom before this, freefalling through the air.

It feels good. Or does it? He doesn’t know. His rocky brain has probably tricked him entirely. After being tortured by these birds for so long, anything would feel good.

Oh well. It’s probably the end of his short life.
