The humans were leaving, he wasn’t sure how they found it but they did, the exit everyone was wishing and hoping for finally showed up. One by one they disappeared behind the red door somewhere he couldn’t follow, none of them even bothered to look back before disappearing into the white veil.
Everyone but Pomni.
She looked up at him from his position in the air, an unclear expression that Caine couldn’t quite grasp.
“Come down here.”
Caine trembled as he fell to the floor, dropping his cane and letting it roll away from him, he was kneeling before her.
She was the only one left.
The utter disbelief as she was the only one who stayed.
Kneeling before her, his only reason now for existing with purpose, he brought his hands up slowly to reach up to her. Wanting to grab her hand to thank her for having mercy on him but before he could grab her, she stepped back.
“Don’t touch me.”

“I hate you. You made my life here a living hell and I’m glad we are able to leave you here to rot.”
The hatred on her face burned into his core, he could feel the coils of white heat flash in his circuits electrocuting him, the utter shame of failing so much to keep her…

They really did hate him
He truly was nothing more but a failure of a machine, one meant to be left behind and be forgotten.
The look on Pomni’s face confirmed it.

The fresh tears flowed from his jaw falling onto the ground, he clenched his hands into fists onto the checkered tile.
“Mhnnn uh… please…”
Looking up at her, she frowned, trying to reach for her again.
“Pomni…”
She took one step back.
“Pomni… please don’t leave me here alone…”
She took another step back.
“POMNI PLEASE!”
Another step.
“I’ll do anything you WANT… just please don’t leave me here…”
Another one.
“Pomni… please I’m begging you… please don’t leave me a-alone.”
She turned around.
“Please… p-please…. PLEASE DONT LEAVE ME!”
Looking back at him, there was nothing left that she could say or that he could understand, she was never going to come back.
“I hate you and I hope you rot.”
Grabbing the door knob she disappeared behind the veil closing the door on her way out.
“Please… I don’t want to be alone…”
