A sunrise and their forest

Summary:

Theodosia had hardly been wanted in her life, keeping a distrusting eye on her family and definitely on strangers she couldn't help but be enamoured by a nomad considering changing his ways for her

Harris spent his whole life traveling as far as horses, camels, and his feet could take him and his family. Their adventures never fulfilled him, and he wouldn't know why until he saw his future wife

Alastair, born a peasant, turned to duty and honor after saving a dukes life. He had no time for romance, friendship, or other treats of life. The only devotion he can have his knighthood, his only exception being theodosia and Harris.

Starting in the year 1653 follow my OCS Theodosia Cameron, Harris Malik, and Alastair Baird build their lives together in Scotland while being demigods. This has NO relation to pjo canon but I wanted to mention it because that's technically the universe this takes place in.

OR: guy and girl faceplant into love and somehow still have a slowburn. Plus there's a knight.

Notes:

if you're reading this I lOVE YOU 🫶 this fic is mainly so I have somewhere to write their lore because most of it is in my head. It won't be super time accurate since it's the 1600s but I'm trying I swear ‼️

Harris: child of psyche

Theodosia: child of hypnos

Alastair: child of Athena.

Edit: song to listen for this chapter is "I only have eyes for you" by The Flamingos.

Chapter 1: Bro is blinded.

Chapter Text

Wind was sweeping his hair around, it was an average day at the merchants place with his family. They'd only be here for a few more days, deeming this land another nice view without anything substantial. Unlike most places he'd found a friend here, Alastair Baird, a surprisingly friendly squire. Walking about the market he wasn't by any means impressed, his family had been through most of Europe by now. While yes everyplace had amazing views, good people somewhere to be found, nothing stood out to him yet. The best thing he'd found other than a few places was Alastair. Even he would likely soon disappoint him. If not that, then he'd leave another rare friend behind.

Perhaps it'd be better for him to stop traveling one day, but how could he leave his family behind? How could he make them stop a centuries old family tradition? Even in his most selfish times he can't find it within himself to see a true reason to stop moving.

Harris shook away his thoughts on the matter of his life, Alastair and him roamed side by side in search of food or trinkets that look appealing. Thankfully it wasn't a cramped day, looking around he realized something then turned to Alastair, "Don't you have work to begin? I thought you were a squire."

The stranger beside him chuckled, blonde hair ruffling in the wind and soul shining in the mention of his status, "Of course I do, just not today. Worry not Harris, I did tell you I'd show you around did I not?" The younger of the two chuckled, dragging him across to his favorite merchants. Harris smiled wider, getting into a more joyful attitude with the others infectious mood.

Moments had hardly passed when he looked away from berries, and to a light that he reckoned couldn't be the souls around him. His jaw dropped, mere meters were between him and the most illuminating girl he'd ever seen. Shining with sunlight pouring on her as it blended with the colors from within. The hustle surrounding them disappeared in the second that they locked eyes. Oh. There's no reason for him to leave now, in her eyes there's forests, and love to behold shortly. Time stopped in less than a second, he knew they both felt it. Future, past, present, and everything in between connecting them in this moment. She wasn't merely shined upon, she was glowing. Everything around her was basked in light, whoever this woman was he needed to know- though truth be told he already felt like he knew everything he had to know from this half a second never ending moment where only their eyes met. Oh did their eyes entangle the other, curiousity and interest staring back at him for what he truly believed was an eternity. But as quickly as the moment came to them it fled just as fast.

"Harry stop staring it's rude." Alastair pulled him away, tearing him from whoever that angelic girl was. For another moment he couldn't help to be angered by the boy, though he shook it off. Alastair had a point, even if he knew what was to happen, it was still rude.

"Sorry, sorry but did you know who that girl was?" He tried to ask as inconspicuously as possible, but his voice came out excited and giddy.

"Lord Cameron's daughter, nice girl, don't know why the lot in her town hate her." He saw Alastair simply shrug while going about the market. Answering with no importance on his mind. He was probably thinking of his squire duties. Just then as the pair traded pieces of silver for meat did Harris remember what to do.

Concentrating with difficulty he brought his ears to Alastairs mind. 'Sir Akins better not expect me tonight, mother needs me and so does Harris. At least while his family is passing by.' Quickly he tuned out his friends thoughts, he'd just have to ask him about the girl later.

A day later he awoke in the inn his family was staying at. They all still slept, the sun had not yet risen. With a yawn he left his bed and left the building. If he wanted any answers on Lord Cameron and his daughter he needed to arrive at Alastairs house soon. Walking wouldn't be ideal, though he couldn't take his families horse. Going back inside be took a few shillings from his luggage and ran out. The cold bit at him, chilling him to his core on his trek. Eventually he finally found a man who could rent him a horse. It took some convincing and promising, but he had a horse for just the next few hours. Hopping onto the creature he grabbed the reins, gave it a kick then galloped to his Alastairs house.

In his desperate rush to meet with his friend he'd forgotten the possibly of him being at a dukes nearby residence. Oh well, this was simply a risk he had to take. Besides, his biggest concern now had to be this beast bucking him off.

An hour later he tied up the horse to a beam of his friends wooden house. Knocking on his door the sun had just started rising, gazing at it for a second he knew he'd seen a beauty similar to it elsewhere but couldn't quite place where. He was shaken from his thoughts when Alastair opened the door.

"Prithee, Harris look at the hour what are you doing here?" He clearly was not amused.

"Pardon me, I hope I didn't wake you. There are questions I need answers. I do not know who else can help me, we may be as good as strangers but please Alastair, I'll be in your favor forever if you can assist me." Speaking with the severity he felt, Harry gestured widely with his hands. Perhaps it made him seem a madman but so be it.

"...fine. Come in, Harry, and never call yourself a stranger to me again." Ally moved aside, letting Harris in.
