Staying Warm

Summary:

Ankh does not like cold weather.

Notes:

Work Text:

In the hundreds of years Ankh had been sealed away, a lot had changed on Earth. But one thing that hadn’t changed too much was the weather. In particular, the fact that during some parts of the year, it was very cold. Ankh had struggled with the cold when he had his greeed body, but with a human body it was even worse.

"Come on, just put on a jacket and boots and we can play in the snow!" Eiji said.

“Hmph," Ankh said, staying in the upstairs area of Cous Coussier where it was nice and warm. Eiji ended up going out without him.

When Eiji returned it was starting to get dark even though it wasn’t late, another side effect of the time of year. Ankh came downstairs to see that even though Eiji had worn a jacket, boots, hat, and mitts, he hadn't stayed completely warm. His cheeks were red from the cold.

"Welcome back! Do you want some hot chocolate?" Chiyoko asked.

"Yeah, that would be nice. Ankh, you should have some too," Eiji said.

"…I'm not cold," Ankh replied.

"Hot chocolate is good! You should try it!" Eiji insisted. Ankh rolled his eyes and when the drink was ready, he had a sip. It was obviously quite different from his usual popsicles, but it tasted good and was quite warm.

"It tastes okay," Ankh said. He watched as Eiji's body returned to normal as he warmed up, both from being indoors and from the hot chocolate.

As it got later, Ankh and Eiji settled in for the night. Eiji put on a t-shirt and underwear, which he usually wore to bed. He also put a quilt on the bed.

“Because it's cold out, so we should use some extra blankets," he explained. "I'm so glad Chiyoko's letting us use them."

As they got into bed, Eiji naturally lay close to Ankh. But tonight, he got even closer to him and put his arms around him.

"What are you doing?" Ankh whispered.

"I just want to help keep you warm," Eiji said.

Ankh wanted to point out that the blankets were supposed to be doing that, but he was too tired to argue. Plus, as Eiji kept his arms around him, it was really comfortable. Ankh turned to face Eiji and put his arms around him.

They stayed warm all night.
