Hands on anatomy practice

Summary:

Mahito is a curse, so he doesn't have actual organs of his own. However he read a lot of anatomy books and wants something to compare it to.

So who'd be crazy enough to allow themselves to be cut open?

It's you of course!

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

“I told you to stop moving.” You heard Mahito’s voice, but it was muffled. Maybe it was the result of the pain medication you had taken to hopefully stop the pain from becoming too excruciating. Or perhaps it was the fact the pain was still quite noticeable despite taking it.

“Are you done yet?” With a bit of hesitation you lowered your gaze to see what he was doing to you.

The first thing you noticed was the blood - and somehow it wasn’t even the most traumatic part. You knew what to expect, you felt when he made the cuts along your body and you heard the wet sounds your skin made when it was separated from the rest of you.

Still, nothing could have prepared you for the view of your organs still moving around inside of your body. Your heart beat quickened, you could physically see your heart contracting frantically as you got closer to a full blown panic attack at an alarming pace.

Mahito noticed, and looked back up from the anatomy book he was holding while comparing the organs he just uncovered with the various drawings. He wasn’t smiling, which was an unusual change from his usual carefree attitude.

“What now? Can’t handle a bit of blood?” He slammed the open book down on the table next to you - it was opened on a full page drawing of a kidney with various arrows and descriptions added in his handwriting. He looked annoyed at his fun being interrupted, but he also looked a bit worried.

“... It’s just-” You stopped, looking away as tears started to well up in your eyes. What the hell has gotten into you? You agreed to this, why was your body reacting like this? “...Nevermind, just continue.”

He stared at you for a moment longer, as if considering just cutting the whole thing short. However his curiosity got the better of him. “Very well then.” He said before grabbing the book again.

You knew you should have looked away, but you didn’t, even when you saw him reach his hand and move his fingers under your intestines.

“W- what are you doing?” Your voice came out as barely more than a whisper.

“I need to get a better view” With a sickening sound, he lifted the still moving guts out of your stomach cavity, gently placing them on the table next to your body.

You didn’t say anything else to that, watching as he carefully maneuvered his fingers to get a better look at your right kidney.

He noticed you looking and let out a small laugh, his serious demeanor disappearing as he got back to his ‘study’. “Relax, I’m not stealing these.”

His eyes moved between the organ and the drawing in the book, after a moment he set your kidney back down and grabbed a pen. He began writing something on the side of the page.

“You know, I didn’t expect them to be this smooth.” Mahit said absentmindedly.

“Huh?” You weren't fully listening, however hearing his voice helped you calm down a bit.

“The kidney.” He explained, moving his hands to lift the kidney up to your field of view.

“Eww, put it back.” You had to stop yourself from vomiting, however watching the light reflect from the surface was weirdly satisfying. You felt disgusted with yourself for even thinking that.

“Yeah, calm down.” He let go of the kidney, letting it fall back inside with a wet splash.

Mahito stepped away for a moment, you saw him flipping through the pages in the book again.

“Interesting.” He muttered to himself, before raising the book so you can get a better look at the page and the yet another diagram printed on it - this one of a lung.

“Let’s check this one next, shall we?”

Notes:

This chapter is really short, but I might write another one soon.
