Work Text:
Katsuki groaned. He rolled his shoulders, the muscles in his neck twisting uncomfortably. The unforgiving stench of sewer water clung to his skin, overpowering his natural scent; a feat he didn’t think possible until today. There was nothing more he wanted than a hot shower and two days of sleep.
Sticking his key into the lock, Katsuki unlocked his apartment and pushed the door open. His body instantly sagged at the soothing scent of magnolia and honey.
It had been six months since Izuku had become his official service hybrid, and the bunny never slacked on his duties. Katsuki had never assigned him specific tasks, but Izuku had taken it upon himself to make the blond hero’s life easier by simply existing.
His apartment, once sterile and bare, was now filled with warmth and the most perfect blend of their two scents. Soft blankets and large throw pillows had taken over the living room. Big potted plants surrounded the large glass window with basins of veggies settled out on the balcony.
“Fresh veggies are the best veggies, Kacchan,” Izuku had said when Katsuki questioned him.
The kitchen, while primarily Katsuki’s domain, now had colorful towels and a strawberry kitchen mat. The bunny hybrid had made Katsuki excited to come home in the evenings.
“Bunny,” he yelled as he shut the door behind him. “I’m home.”
“Kacchan!”
Katsuki couldn’t stop the smile from creeping up his face when the bunny hybrid bounced around the corner. He wore nothing but a large black shirt; Katsuki’s shirt that he knew was drenched in his scent.
Izuku’s nose scrunched when he got close, his eyes darting to the blond’s bare ears. He lifted his hands as he spoke. “You stink. What happened at work? I could’ve come and helped, you know I’m always here when you need me. Was Red Riot there with you? Oh, or Hawks, maybe? I know you’ve been working closer with him this past month and I know he’s still teasing you–”
“Zu,” Katsuki said, smiling. “I will gladly tell you everything I did today after I shower. How’s that sound?”
Izuku blushed, always embarrassed when he rambled. Katsuki has assured him time and time again that it never bothered him, but the bunny refused to believe him.
Izuku nodded. “I made soup for lunch. Want me to warm some up for you?”
“Yeah, I shouldn’t be long,” he said.
Katsuki leaned down and pressed a soft kiss against Izuku’s head. The bunny leaned into the touch, always eager for affection. It was something Katsuki had noticed early into their arrangement, something he grew addicted to over the months.
“Go.” Izuku pushed him away gently. “I can barely smell you through all the stink.”
Katsuki snorted as he moved towards the bathroom. He was quick to start the water and strip down, the room already steaming from the heat. He stepped in, his dick stirring as the image of red freckled cheeks filled his brian.
“Fuck.” His fist wrapped around his dick, he gave a shallow pump. He pressed his palm against the shower wall, his back facing the water as he slowly moved his fist up and down. All he could think about was the green bunny not even a hundred feet away. Bucked teeth biting into plump lips, a pink nose twitching excitedly, his fluffy tail moving whenever Katsuki rubbed between his ears.
“Fuck.” His fist sped up.
Izuku bouncing around the apartment, Izuku wearing his clothes, Izuku fresh out of the shower, Izuku, Izuku, Izuku, Izuku.
“Fuck.” His breathing picked up as he spilled into his hand. He could feel his heart beating in his ears. “Fucking, damnit.”
He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tugging at his scalp. This was far from the first time Katsuki had jacked off thinking of his hybrid, and he knew it wouldn’t be the last, but it was only Tuesday and he’d fucked his fist thinking of Izuku seven times this week already.
“Fuck, I have to call Ei.”
–––
“So you’re saying you’re an idiot?”
Katsuki scoffed. “Are you going to give me guidance or not?”
The redhead across from him laughed. “Dude, just stop acting like an idiot.”
“I’m not a fucking idiot.”
“Only idiots rub their dick raw when their literal soulmate sleeps in the room next door.” Eijiro took a sip of his beer.
“Fuck you.”
Eijiro shrugged. “I’m being real. Just talk to him. Midobro is, like, the most understanding person in the universe.”
“And the nicest, and the cutest, and the best smelling–”
“Dude, I already know you’re in love with him.” Another sip. “And he’s in love with you.”
“How do you know that?” Katsuki grabbed his own beer bottle by the neck and pressed it to his lips aggressively. “How do you know it would even work? We live together, sometimes work together, I don’t want him to feel like I’m invading his life.”
“Kats, bro, you're majorly overthinking this.”
“I think you're severely underthinking it.” He swirled the bottle and let half the liquid flow into his mouth before slamming it back on the table.
“You guys are perfect for each other,” Eijiro said. “I’m serious, dude, just try to talk to him about it. I’m telling you, he reciprocates hard core.”
Katsuki’s eyes darted from his friend to the bar door. His grip around the bottle tightened. “What if I ruin what we have? I can’t risk that.”
And he couldn’t. Katsuki couldn’t give up late nights on the couch, cuddling, or early mornings without his aids in. He couldn’t give up head scratches and gentle massages. He couldn’t live without whined ‘Kacchan’s’ and pouty lips, he just couldn’t do it. Despite their short time together, Katsuki couldn’t imagine his life without Izuku.
The redhead sighed. “What if this push gives you something great? Something better than what you have now? Isn’t that worth the risk?”
Katsuki swiped his tongue across his teeth. The idea of Izuku being his omega made Katsuki’s alpha howl. Being able to kiss his curls when they were cuddling, or to run his hands across soft hips in the mornings were things Katsuki thought of every day.
“I’ll think about it,” he said. Glancing down at his phone, Katsuki saw a message from the bunny in question. He clicked on it, drinking the last of his beer while it came up on the screen.
Zuzu Bunny
No rush for you to come home, but I need to talk to you about something kind of important! If not tonight, then tomorrow morning :)
“Zu just texted,” Katsuki said. “Said he needs to talk. I’m heading out.”
“Oh shit.” Eijiro laughed. He quickly finished off the rest of his drink before standing alongside the blond. “Maybe he’s the one with the balls in your relationship.”
“Shut the fuck up and die, Shitty Hair.”
The redhead threw an arm over Katsuki and pulled him close as they walked out of the bar.
“Need me to walk you home?” he asked. “You know, just in case you panic and try to crash at mine.”
Katsuki’s face burned, recalling the one time he did just that. Izuku had said the same thing as tonight, I need to talk to you, and Katsuki freaked out. Eijiro hadn’t let him live it down, especially when they both found out the bunny hybrid only wanted to know if Katsuki had any major food allergies.
“I checked your hero page online, Kacchan,” Izuku explained to him the next day when Katsuki finally wandered home. “And I checked every fan blog I could, but nobody had anything on whether or not you have allergies. I don’t think I could live with myself if I killed Ground Zero over a peanut.”
Eijiro had been there when Izuku was explaining. Safe to say he lost hard earned credibility that afternoon.
“Get the hell off of me,” Katsuki shouted, shoving the red hero away. “I don’t need your dumbass putting shit into the air.”
“I would never air your laundry.”
Katsuki glared. “Lie again, fucker.”
Eijiro held his hands up placatingly. “Alright, but to be fair, I’m usually drunk when that happens.”
“And what are you now?” Katsuki asked.
“Mildly sober.”
“Not fucking good enough. Go the fuck home.”
“Text me what he says!” Eijiro shouted. They were at the train station seeing as the redhead lived two stops away. Katsuki shoved him into one of the compartments and watched as he stumbled into a seat.
Scoffing, Katsuki turned on his heel and started his trek to his own apartment. It wasn’t far from the bar they had been at, one of the things Katsuki tried to do just in case Izuku ever needed him. God, he was so whipped, and he knew it.
Stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets, Katsuki tried to think of what Izuku would want to talk about. He’d been good about keeping his laundry sorted, so that couldn’t be it. He hadn’t cussed out any reporters lately, he hadn’t forgotten his bento at home like he did last month, and he’d been coming back from work at a decent time. He kicked a rock and sighed.
What the fuck could be wrong? he thought. Maybe he wants to quit. Fuck. What the hell am I supposed to do if he wants to quit?
Katsuki groaned, frustrated at his new train of thought.
Don’t think like that. Izuku likes his job. He loves the apartment, there’s no way he wants to leave. But what if he does and he just doesn’t know how to tell me? Fuck!
Katsuki searched his brain for anything that could’ve pushed Izuku into thinking he needed to quit. As far as he knew, the bunny hybrid was well cared for. Katsuki made sure Izuku had all his favorite foods, the most comfortable nest, and plenty of things to do so his mind wouldn’t tire.
What if he hates the affection?
“Damnit,” he said.
Katsuki truly believed Izuku liked all the unwarranted touches. The subtle scent marking when they cuddled, the brush of their hands when Izuku insisted on helping the blond hero cook. It wasn’t much, but maybe it was enough to drive the omega hybrid away.
Katsuki walked through the revolving door of his apartment building, the receptionist greeting him kindly. He was too trapped in his own mind to respond, not that he would do anything more than nod politely.
He got in the elevator, his chest tight as he tried not to think about the upcoming conversation. He didn’t know what he would do without Izuku there to greet him every day when he got off of work. He didn’t know who he would be without the bunny hybrid in his life.
The elevator opened on his floor. He sighed as he walked out, his hand sweating when he reached for the key to the apartment. Slipping the key into the lock, he pushed the door open.
“Bunny,” he called out. “I’m home. You said you wanted to talk?”
The room was illuminated by a single living room lamp, but it was enough for Katsuki to see the large bundle on the couch. He inched closer after slipping off his shoes. Two long, green ears stuck out the top of the blanket, or mound of blankets he should say.
Not wanting to wake him, Katsuki moved around the couch until he was in front of the omega. He bent down, careful not to jostle Izuku too much, and scooped the smaller man into his arms. The overpowering scent of magnolia and honey disrupted his senses.
“Fuck.” He stumbled slightly with Izuku in his hold. The bunny hybrid whined, but didn’t wake up.
Katsuki held his breath the rest of the way to Izuku’s bedroom. The blond had only been in the space a couple of times before. Once when Izuku needed help moving in and once when he was looking for one of his missing shirts. Every morning when he passed by the room, he could always smell Izuku’s scent spilling from underneath the door. Every morning it reminded him of what he was coming home to.
He took a shallow breath before slowly, pushing the door open. Izuku pressed his nose into Katsuki’s chest, the alpha gritting his teeth in an attempt to restrain himself.
“Kacchan,” Izuku mumbled.
“Shh, you’re okay, omega,” the hero whispered. Carefully, he lowered Izuku into his nest. Katsuki tried hard not to praise him for his work. The nest was perfect. His alpha was howling with how proud he was. “We can talk in the morning.”
“No.” Izuku grabbed the front of Katsuki’s shirt, not letting the blond hero leave. “Talk now, Kacchan.”
“I don’t think you’re awake enough for that, Bunny.”
“My heat, Kacchan, please.” Green eyes blinked open slowly, a slight glisten coating them. “I have to take off for my heat.”
Katsuki didn’t know why his brain was lagging. The smell alone should’ve told him everything. Izuku smelt heavenly, better than he ever had before. The blond could feel his mouth salivate as he looked down at the omega.
“Why is it coming early?” he asked. “I thought we had another week.”
Izuku whined before pulling Katsuki into his nest. The blond knew the hybrid was strong, but he had never had that strength used on him. Green curls tickled his nose as Izuku rubbed his cheek against his chest. He was surprised the hybrid wasn’t put off by the stench of the bar and beer.
“Because of you,” Izuku said.
“What?” He tried to scramble out of the nest. It was obvious Izuku wasn’t in his right mind. There was no way he could consent to having an unmated prime alpha in his most vulnerable sanctuary.
“I want you so bad, Kacchan,” Izuku cried out. “Don’t you want me too? I’ve been doing everything to be the perfect omega. Anything to get Kacchan to notice me.”
“Bunny, I notice you everyday, even when you're not around, you’re all I can think about.”
Fresh tears spilled down chubby red cheeks.
“Stay with me,” Izuku said. “Please.”
“Izuku.” Katsuki’s hand reached out on its own to pet fluffy green curls. The hybrid preened under the touch. “I can’t, you’re not coherent enough for this. I don’t want to take advantage of you.”
A painful sob broke past the bunny’s lips.
“Kacchan, please,” Izuku begged.
“Zuzu–”
“Kacchan doesn’t want me,” the hybrid wailed. “I-I knew I wouldn’t be good enough for Kacchan. Stupid omega doesn’t kn-know anything.”
Izuku was sobbing. Hot tears rolled down his face and his breaths were uneven and sporadic. Katsuki’s eyes widened at the sight. His scent spiked immediately, his alpha doing anything it could to calm down his chosen mate.
“No, no, Bunny, that’s not what it is,” Katsuki said softly. “I want you, more than you know, I just don’t want to hurt you. I want to tell you how I feel when you’re not drunk off my scent.”
“But I need my alpha now,” Izuku said, pouting.
The claim spilling from the omega's lips had his alpha perking up with pride. His chest rumbled, the comforting purr pulling the omega closer until he was lying fully atop the alpha, rubbing his nose up and down the blond’s neck.
“Please, Kacchan.” Furry hips rolled down, his ass pressing firmly against Katsuki’s steadily hardening dick. Katsuki peeked around the omega, his whole face turning red when he noticed the hybrid was wearing nothing but one of his shirts. His slick was forming a wet patch against his jeans.
Katsuki set his hands on Izuku’s hips, the omega hummed from the contact.
“Izuku we shouldn’t.” He could feel his resolve breaking. His mind was quickly losing the battle against his alpha.
“I love you, alpha.” Izuku looked Katsuki directly in his eyes as he spoke. His pupils were blown wide, the green or his iris’ barley seen. Katsuki knew he was already in heat, he knew. But those three words were all it took for his dick to stand at full mast.
“Fuck.”
The blond didn’t waste another second. His hands jumped from curved hips to Izuku’s soft face. He pulled the omega towards him, their lips clashing like a battle but moving as if they were dancing. Katsuki’s tongue swiped against Izuku’s bottom lip, the omega eagerly granting him access to explore.
“Fuck, Bunny,” Katsuki moaned. “You’re too fucking sweet.”
Izuku whined, his hips now steadily rolling against Katsuki’s dick.
“Fuck me Kacchan,” Izuku begged. “Please, I want your knot so bad.”
“You want my knot, Bunny?” Katsuki asked. “You desperate for this dick, Zu baby?”
“Kacchan, please, c’mon.”
Katsuki chuckled dark and meanly. “I don’t think you really need it. I think someone’s just being a greedy baby. Are my cuddles not enough?”
“Kacchan!” Izuku screamed. “Need your knot, need alpha’s knot right now!”
Katsuki licked a broad strip against Izuku’s neck, sending the omega reeling. He nipped at the skin around his scent gland, loving the way his omega squirmed.
“Relax, Bunny,” Katsuki said. He wrapped his arm around the omega as he flipped them around. He hovered over the seemingly defenseless bunny, his fangs revealing themselves as he smiled. “I’m going to take care of you.”
–––
Izuku’s heat lasted six days. When Katsuki woke up after the first day, he sent an email to Mirko explaining why he would need the next week off. That was all the free time he had before Izuku was rutting against his leg, his pussy begging for stimulation.
The pair sat in the living room, both sporting more bruises than they thought possible, yet no mating bites. Katsuki didn’t know how to feel about the lack of bite. He was proud of his alpha for holding back, but disappointed that he still couldn’t officially call Izuku his.
They were both silent as they sat. Katsuki stared at the bunny, but the hybrid refused to lift his gaze from the couch. His ears were even drooping low.
“Zu–”
“I’m sorry, please don’t get rid of me!”
“What?” Katsuki was surprised. “What makes you think I’d get rid of you?”
“You said no to sharing your rut with me and here I go forcing you to spend my heat with me.” Katsuki could hear the weight in the omega’s voice. He was crying, but trying to hold back the sounds for Katsuki’s sake.
“Bunny, you didn’t force me to do anything,” Katsuki said. “I wanted to spend your heat with you. If anything, I feel like I’m the one who took advantage. I didn’t want to rut share in case that was something you were uncomfortable with”
Izuku finally looked up. Katsuki’s heart broke at the sight of puffy, redrimmed eyes.
“I feel like such an idiot,” Izuku said. “All my training for what? Me to turn into a mindless omega as soon as an attractive alpha treats me well?”
“You said you loved me.” Katsuki reached out to grab Izuku’s hand. “Did you mean it?”
“Yes,” Izuku said without hesitation. “But I understand if you don’t feel the same. I can have my things packed within the hour if this makes you uncomfortable. I promise not to contact you after I return to Meadows, and I can even give back all the things you signed for me if you’d rather I didn’t have them–”
“Can you turn off your brain for ten seconds?” Katsuki laughed. “I love you too, you dummy.”
“What?” Izuku’s ears perked up and his nose twitched excitedly. “Kacchan loves me too?”
“Yeah,” he said. “The night you texted me, when I was at the bar with Ei, that’s what we were talking about. My feelings for my very unavailable roommate.”
“Kacchan loves me?” Izuku asked, still in disbelief.
“Yes, Bunny. I’ve been crazy about you for a while.”
The hybrid tugged on one of his ears nervously, his eyes once again looking down at the couch cushions. “Does this mean we can be mates?”
“I’d like to think so,” Katsuki said. “Ei’s going to be a pain in my ass when I tell him he was right.”
“Right about what?”
Katsuki tugged on the bunny’s hand, urging him to come closer. Izuku complied and scooted close enough for their thighs to touch.
“He said going for it would be worth the risk.” Katsuki brought Izuku’s knuckles to his lips and pressed a feather light kiss against each one. Lowering his hand, Katsuki looked into watery, green eyes, and smiled. “It totally was.”
