Chapter Text

Remainings adjusts his hair as he looks at himself in the mirror, every strand of his hair has to be swayed slightly to the right and perfect. Cole walks out from one of the toilet stalls after taking a quick leak, making his way towards Remainings, washing his hands right beside him.

“Do you really have to wear that scarf everywhere you go?” Cole asks, arching one of his eyebrows.

Remainings stares at Cole through the mirror, pausing his hair adjustment, giving him a bit of a pouty face. “Well yeah,” he scoffs, “it gives me that signature look, y’know?”

He finishes adjusting his hair as he takes another glance of himself in the mirror. It’s the 2019 Bloxy Rewards and he’s nervous as all hell, he doesn’t want to admit it but he really doesn’t want to be here. He’s warm, sweating and shaking a bit, he assumes it’s noticeable because Cole reaches out to grip the far side of his shoulder, tugging him towards him.

“Hey, seriously man, relax. It’ll go fine this year, its like how it is every year. Doesn’t make it better that you’re wearing that scarf though, probably why you’re sweating balls right now.” He chuckles out the last sentence.

“Fuck off and I know man,” he sinks down into himself in a sluggish movement. “And man this suit is just killing me like really who designed this shit?” he tugs at the collar of the suit trying to create more airway to breath. It really might be the scarf man.

Cole slaps his cheeks with his two cold hands from the ice cold water he was just washing with, Remainings immediately reacting with a hiss from the cold temperature hitting his warm sweaty face. He almost leans into it but just ends up giving Cole a confused look. It was going to be one of his shitty pep talks that for some reason always ends up helping him, he doesn’t know how he does it, but Cole helps him get through a lot of overthinking that he has, and he’s glad he has.

“Sorry, dude.” with a hint of guilt into saying that, he relaxes himself down. Giving himself some time to breathe a bit better before giving Cole a nod, letting him know he’s ready.

“It’s all good man but help me with this tie real quick before we go out there again, will you?”

Christ he’s useless without me, Remainings thinks.

“Lift your hair up for me real quick,” Remainings asks, this unknowingly makes Cole's spine shiver from the request. He pulls his mullet up, taking his eyes away from Remainings in a flustered sense. Remainings takes the undid tie from his neck and starts to slightly pull it towards him, a choking sound coming from Cole comes out.

“Shit, sorry, didn’t mean to trigger a kink of yours- haha.” He giggles into the sentence.

“Ha- yeah, it would be funnier if I wasn’t getting choked to death fuckass, now finish the damn tie.” Cole barks back, not wanting to admit he likes it just a bit.

He loops the final knot on the tie and pats Cole's shoulder, giving him a smirk that he oh so hates but loves to look at. “Well, let's get at it, fans are waiting for us.” Remainings turned around and started heading towards the door. Cole, still coming down to his senses from being flustered, follows behind him, gripping strongly onto his suit to prevent losing him in the crowd.

Remainings looks back at him, “just don't wrinkle my suit.”

“I won’t,” as he grips harder.

Bright flashes in every angle, clicking sounds from every direction, straight overstimulation. Remainings can’t handle it any more, it’s been two hours since the awards ceremony started, he’s not sure how much more time he has to go through to get this over with. He sighs with exhaustion as he waves towards fans and greets them, his social battery drains in 30 minutes, this is far more than what he’s used to, why did he even do this to himself he thought.

“Hang in there dude,” Cole whispers into his ear, he’s also tired. Cole can leave any time he likes because he was invited as a second to Remainings but doesn’t want to leave him alone to deal with everything. “I heard there was only about 20 minutes left.”

“I swear you said that 40 minutes ago,” He turns to face Cole, sinking back into his seat as the fans start to make their way out.

“Yeah, well, I'm correct now. That was your last fan for the day wasn’t it?” Remainings perks up from his seat and scans the room. “Huh- I guess that was. All we have to do is clean our station up then.” Cole nods as he starts to put items back into their boxes, they both finish cleaning their little booth only 10 minutes after the last fan left. They were tired of today, both just wanting to go back to their rented hotel room.

“So do you want me to order something or-”

“Order.” Remainings cuts him off before he can give him the other option. “I need my bed now.”

“Yeah- okay- that’s fair,” Cole nods in agreement, grabbing his phone from his dress pants.

Cole and Remainings leave the cleanup crew to deal with loading their things into the truck as it's getting too late for them to keep helping, in reality they couldn’t lift anything more or else their arms would give out. They thanked the loaders and started their walk back into their hotel room, which thankfully, was connected to the main event building. Only needing a quick ride from the elevator to reach their room.
The elevator door opened and the fresh air condition hit their sweaty exhausted bodies, almost causing Remainings to collapse right onto the floor. They both let out a sigh or refreshment, as if they just discovered water. They walk towards their room door, trying to make out the numbers that are slowly blurring with each blink.

“What was our room number again?” Cole asked, “268,” Remainings responded. Cole looked at Remainings then at the door, 268. He pats himself to try to find the door key.

“I can’t find the key.” He says.

“Are you serious, I gave it to you”

“Why would you even give it to me in the first place if you know I'm dogshit at keeping things safe?”

“Because you weren’t gonna move a whole lot!”

Panic begins to set into the two as they start to pat themselves down, hoping one or the other has the key, or even a spare key into the room. Remainings pulls his pockets inside out, checking the inside of his suit if there's anything, nothing. He’s starting to wonder if Cole is either stupid and has it, or genuinely doesn’t have it.

“Stay still let me search you real quick,” he snorts out a laugh, “It’s like I'm a cop.”

“Christ dude, I don’t have it!” He stampers out as he lifts his arms up. He pats in his upper body first, only feeling his wallet in his chest pocket, taking it out to make sure it isn’t the key. That feeling from before starts to pour back into Cole, suddenly making him warm and shaking a little. Remainings feels around his arm, into his cuffs, to his hips. Patting down every inch he can possibly find, until he reaches his pants. He lifts up his upper suit part to feel around the wait, a squeak comes out of Cole's mouth, just quiet enough to go unnoticed. He can feel himself starting to tense up, until he freezes completely once he reaches his pants pockets, he stuffs his hands in there both at the same time.

“JESUS!” Cole yelped out loud, smacking his hands onto his mouth after realizing how loud it was. Remainings looked up at Cole, hands ripping away from his pockets, eyes widened from the sudden noise. Then suddenly, an echo of keys rumbled through the hallway, both turning their head to see the key flung onto the floor after Remainings flew his hands out of Cole's pockets.

“Oh, well there is it,” Remainings chuckled at Cole, giving him a nervous smile as he backed away to grab the key. He stood up straight to head back to the room.

“That was really funny how loud you went man. I dont think I've heard you go that loud.”

“Shut up,” he was flushed red, extremely embarrassed to say the least.

A light wheeze was still coming out of him. “Well at least I didn’t yelp like a dog, heehee.” He slipped the key into the doorknob, swinging it open slowly and moving to the side so Cole can come in first.

“Sorry that was just- ha- so funny…” Remainings catching his breath, letting out a sigh. They both enter the hotel room, Remainings following behind Cole. “Now we can take these suits off.”

He was suddenly shoved into the door of their room, Cole pinning Remainings onto the door harshly, Remainings extending his arms to try to shove Cole out of reflex.

“What the fuck dude!?” Remainings shouted, voice slightly quivering from the sudden interaction.

“S-sorry- you just look really good with this suit. Please Remainings, don’t take it off, yet.” Cole hums his words quietly into his ear, sending a cold shiver down his spine.

His face gets hot, he has liked Cole for a while but was never sure if he liked him back, ever since they were in their early teens he has had these feelings, developing more and more each year, shutting them down to prevent himself from getting hurt. Hesitating, Remainings nods, not trusting himself to speak but does so anyways, “Don’t pull that shit next time dude, scared the fuck out of me.”

He moved his hands to hold his wrists, “let’s go to bed, I’ve been wanting to all day.” Remainings says almost casually.

Cole's heart is flipping.
