"I can't take this marriage anymore, I want a divorce and I'm taking Diana with me," Gordon Lawrence's wife had declared before leaving him.
Dr. Lawrence Gordon's life had been a blur of sadness, work, and even more loneliness. His wife had left him because of his busy life as a doctor; Alisson was seeing someone else,barely spent any time at home and almost never saw his daughter anyway. The man, over 40, felt exhausted. How was he supposed to provide for the life his wife wanted to live without him working like maníac,Allison left him for someone richer. The life of a forty-something doctor felt like a blur of work, whiskey, and loneliness; his wife hadn't asked for a penny in the divorce,She had simply abandoned him and denied him joint custody of their daughter Diana.
""My new husband is older, but he has more time and is willing to be the father you'll never have time to be with your miserable doctor's salary," Dr. Gordon Lawrence's ex-wife had said to him.
And it was true, a salaried oncologist might make enough money for a decent and comfortable life, but he couldn't compete with a real estate tycoon who was richer, older, and had more free time.
