Work Text:
Christian groaned, still beating himself up over the whole ordeal from the day prior.
He- ugh- it was stupid of him to mess with Jay. He isn’t sure why he took the notebook in the first place, just something about the guy’s pout and the fall of his hair. It’s one of those things. Y’know, the more you think about it the less you get a proper reason. Nothing besides Jay’s face was in his mind!
Which, in retrospect, was weirder. He frowned. Why was he thinking about his face?
He tossed in turn in his bed again. He was on his phone earlier, texting the guys (in reality it was just Blue), but at some point it gets old. Kinda rinse and repeat.
So here he was looking at his ceiling, his face going back to Jay Johnson.
At that moment? When he was dicking around with the kid? His face was damn near adorable. It was just a fact. Probably. Like… everyone had to notice it. Right? No need to question it when he knows it’s just a basic fact. (As if Jay Johnson’s face beauty was questionable.)
Back on track.
Jay. Ignoring the whole- Johnson part- the guy himself wasn’t that bad. His original thoughts on the guy? They weren’t.. the kindest. Looking back. But after that talk with Coach? It really set him up on the right path.
Or a different path.
He always questioned why his sister thought he was bi. Now? Not so much.
At first his insane fascination with Jay was out of paranoia. Now he can’t get the guy’s face out of his head. His damn lips, his big doe eyes, again, the way his hair falls-
He groans. What the hell? He sticks his hand out and paws at the bottle of Tylenol from the night stand, opening it and letting five fall into his hand. He swallows it dry. Afterward, the footballer falls back into bed, letting the pain numb and dissipate.
Soon, his thoughts wander once more. ‘It all goes back to Jay,’ he mentally curses, thinking back to said guy’s androgynous visage. Christian couldn't help it! The guy could be considered indescribable, but that’s only because Christian couldn’t come up with anything at the moment. In truth, he was- he’s-
He blinks and suddenly the guy he’s been thinking about is right beside him.
Jay’s face was leaning on his shoulder, nearly cuddling into his side. The closeness of it all made Christian’s breath hitch. Yet there he was, hiding a smile into the football player’s shoulder.
His laugh is airy- not nearly as skittish as the other times they’ve chatted. He leaned close, still continuing his light giggle. “Christian, just relax. Come on,” he whispers, clinging to his arm.
As if in a haze, he leans on his side and feels his face heat up while looking at Jay.
He licks his lips, unable to hold himself from leaning close and squeezing the guy. He- he was so cute. Fuck. He couldn’t not hug him. He felt himself fully engulf his body, feeling his body warmth and spread close to Christian’s own heat.
The football player felt almost maniac, unable to stop his pure joy from escaping. His bliss was an unspeakable euphoria that flooded his being. His heart almost hurts as he glances down at Jay in his arms. He’s not sure why, so instead of questioning himself, he presses his cheek against the very top of the writer’s head.
“Don’t know why I’m doing this,” Christian muttered, still feeling a little woozy. Perhaps it was from the pills. How many pills are you supposed to have again? He was just kind of-
“Christian?” A voice interrupts, and soon he’s looking back at Jay, who has his lips curled into another grin. “Come on, put your attention back onto me.”
He nods, his cheeks heating up as he sees Jay tilting his head up just to give Christian a tiny peck to his cheek.
The footballer feels his heart clench. Also almost explode from pure joy. He lets his hand prod at Jay’s own, slowly entangling their fingers and feeling their palms slot together. He would say it’s warm, but at this rate he feels blisteringly hot. The skin on skin contact makes him feel sweaty, the longer he’s holding Jay the more nervous yet all the more happy he gets.
He squeezes Jay’s hand. “Kiss me again,” he whispers.
Jay nods, the action hesitant yet determined as he leans forward again to give a chaste kiss.
“I think I liked that,” Christian murmurs, looking down at Jay. Beautiful lovely Jay. Handsome, cute and sweet Jay. Gorgeous and dreamy Jay.
And he blinks once more. As soon as he does so, the phone suddenly rings.
He looks to the night stand and back at the spot beside him. There's no Jay, much less a human in sight. Rather, it’s one of his pillows.
‘Oh. Um. That’s pretty awkward.’
He looks at the phone, seeing it's a call from his sister. He ignores it at first, but he can’t get over that damned lucid dream- or whatever the hell it was! Why did he have it in the first place?
Fuckass Jay Johnson.
He picks up.
“Christian! You finally picked up. Look, I-“
“How do you tell if you’re bisexual and how did you guess I was bisexual?”
From the other side of the phone, his sister barks out a loud laugh.
