Chapter Text
Welcome to Festive Studies!
A school with a not-so-high reputation, with students that occasionally get higher. Consider this your new home for a while — because you’ll find that you’ll never want to leave. Think of a slice of life anime; cherry blossom trees, girls that are constantly running late to class, and boys that act like troublemakers for no reason. You’ll find them in love, you’ll find them developing friendships and rivalries, you’ll find them outside of school with their families.
However, in real life, schools aren’t always like cherry blossoms. People aren’t always as buddy-buddy as shows portray them to be; shows such as those ones don’t usually have a proper conception of humanity in itself. So, they’ll create relationships between their characters, and the gaps in plot will fill themselves automatically.
That’s the type of academy we’re working with.
Upon entering the school for the first time, there’s a lot to unpack on the very first glance. The reception is nice and spacious; the front desk’s phone is ringing, the security cameras are in action. There are seats in the big room, allowing for visitors—like parents who’ve come to pick up their children—to take a seat.
Past the reception, were hallways. The walls were a nice white, occasionally accentuated by some orange and red, decorated in boards with promotional flyers and the week’s reminders set up by the staff. They were also decorated in windows, permitting vision into the rooms from the hallway. It seems that on the first floor, there aren’t classrooms, there are club rooms. From the cooking club, to the school council meeting room. The hallways go in the shape of a square—with double doors in some of them.
Pushing past those wide double doors, it seems to be a common open area. A big fountain pouring with water — it’s a rumor spreading around the students to be a lucky fountain, pray to it enough and your wishes will come true! That said fountain seems to have a slowly rotating mascot at the very top; a clown, which .. was oddly adorable. The pathway is made of cement, there are grass patches, lots of benches. Sometimes there’ll be bake sales organized by the cooking club, or promotional activities hosted by the board of directors.
To the left of the entrance, there’s the locker segment. Lockers surround the walls; in specific ways that form small aisles for students to travel around.
To the right of the entrance, there are stairs. Most went up, some went down.
Upon going down the steps, the air suddenly reeks of chlorine. The small hallway adjacent to the door has two doors of its own. One of those doors leads to the swimming pool, the second leads to the changing rooms for that said pool! After school activities are sometimes held here, like water polo, or the swimming club holds their own meetings.
Upon going up the stairs, it’s quite similar on the second floor. The only differences from the first floor are the lack of lockers, the presence of actual classrooms instead of clubs, and there is no access to the fountain. The big space, which was previously the reception, was turned into a common sitting area – students travel there to eat lunch on most days. Vending machines decorate the walls. It’s the same thing on the next two floors.
At the very end, on the fifth floor, is the rooftop! There are benches and places to sit, with gates on the top to prevent .. accidents. Lots of heartfelt and gentle conversations are usually held there — a place of intimacy, especially after school when the sun begins to set. Hands are held, connections are shared.
Outside the school, yet still in its premises, is the main courtyard. A nice, natural ambiance. In that courtyard, there’s the track field, the garden alongside the shack for the gardening club, and let’s not forget about the auditorium where the drama club rehearses!
School gatherings and drama club meetings also tend to take place in the auditorium. Think of a theatre — lots of seats, a big stage, a bright red curtain. Nothing but the best, for the best drama club in the world! In the audience part of the auditorium, there’s a tunnel that connects the auditorium and the school building, allowing easier access to it if a large group of people needs to access it.
All of this is surrounded by lovely white fences, trees, and bushes. It’s wonderful, truly.
Tomorrow, the first day of the school year begins. Clubs will be recruiting, teachers will be introducing, but, most of all…
It’ll be the start of everything we’ve ever wanted.
