Work Text:
Harry walked across the patio, the cold sending shivers up his bare feet. He exhaled deeply, his cigarette going out in the rain, his hair dripping, clothes wet and spirits low. I love the rain, a voice came from behind him, he whipped around, the force sending him straight to the ground, groaning. Anna the whimsical neighbour with bright pink hair said randomly. “Yes, must be nice when you’re wearing a rain coat”, Harry muttered.
“I wouldn’t be out here without one! “ Anna offers a hand to Harry, dragging him up. Though my hair is getting a little wet, she continues, looking off. “Right.” Harry muttered. “Why are you out here without a coat, Harry?”
I don’t know, Harry looks off into the distance, gaze hooded. Well I made brownies so it would be terribly tragic if you don’t come over and taste test! Get dressed, I’ll wait, Anna sing-says as she steps inside without an invitation.
Harry hurriedly gets dressed, wishing he had another cigarette, the one from before was his last one.
I have one! Anna says as if she read his mind, holding up a pack of Marlboro white cigarettes.
How did you know?” Harry asks her, totally creeped out.
A hunch?” I don’t know, yours went out so you might want another one?
Thanks.” Harry takes a cigarette from the pack. Uh, lighter?
Oh! Here, Anna hands him a pink lighter with kittens on it. I love cats, they’re so cute!
Mm. Harry is reminded of Miss Figg who lives two streets away from 4 privet drive.
Harry fumbles with the lighter, barely managing to light the fag as his fingers shake.
Anna takes the lighter from him and slips it back into her pocket and starts speed-walking to her house.
Wait up!” Harry walks with a hand over his cigarette as to not let it die out.
Uhh, why are you inviting me over exactly?” Harry asks the peculiar girl.
I told you! I made brownies.”
Right.”
Anna skips the rest of the way to her house and swings the door open, kicking off her yellow boots and dancing into the kitchen unbothered as fuck. Here they are! I have some plates with kittens on them! I got them from my aunt yesterday, she loves cats even more than me. But she’s moved due to her new job.
Harry zones out as Anna keeps talking, and talking, and talking.
So! What do you think I should do? Like, I just can’t tell her that! It’d be horrid, simply horrid.
“Uhh, I don’t know to be honest.”
Ugh, boys are so dim..”
I-I have a curfew. Harry says, itching to get away from this strange girl.
Oh- Okay! You can simply come over tomorrow.
Harry quickly gets his coat on and hurries out the door as Anna starts to sing her goodbyes.
