Work Text:
“Do you think we meet in every universe?” Bill asked, seated beside you. You glanced at him from the corner of your eye, an action that showed you had heard his question.
Now, why would he ask that? Surely Bill Cipher, in his infinite wisdom, would know the answer to that.
Unless, this was the one thing not even he knew the answer to. Or maybe Bill did, and had just wanted to see how deep of a bond you thought the two of you had.
There was a time that you would've said yes, that you were two peas in a pod. You would've told him that in every universe, every lifetime, you'd find each other.
Perhaps the two of you were flowers in one universe, and butterflies in the next.
You would've said yes before the true extent of who Bill really was came to light, before learning of his true nature, and just what he'd do to get what he wanted.
For the next minute or so, you imagined the infinite possibilities of how the two of you would've encountered each other in different lives.
Although, the ones you think of are not reminiscent of the companionship you once had with him.
-
A fox with golden eyes holding a kicking rabbit in its maw. The fox had given chase to the small colony of them, trampling over their dens as the others tried to run away, spooked by the intruder intent on gaining control over the little community of rabbits. The rabbit kicked and squirmed in hopes that the teeth around its body loosened just a little to be able to escape.
The rabbit could only hope that its death was quick and painless.
-
A man with graying skin, talking to a crowd of his followers in the town square. The man, unbeknownst to the them- spins lies, promising the secrets of the universe and moons for everyone that joined him. One follower in particular, the one in the front of the crowd, had the widest smile out of all of them. The follower absolutely believed that they had the closest relationship to the leader, he said so himself. The follower trusted him, and he wouldn't betray them.
Right?
-
A lone Euclidean that wanders around the small town of Gravity Falls, having burned down his home many years ago.
There's someone he never meets, never befriends, because they never made it into existence.
-
You, going about your life. There are no Euclideans alive, and you never gain the knowledge about them, after they had all been killed in a fire long before your birth.
-
You never meet each other, as the two of you are never born to begin with.
-
You stare off, not exactly at anything specific in the night sky as you think of what remained of the world outside the one Bill built within the Fearamid. If there were any remains at all, you doubt you'd ever see them.
Someone else would've told him a white lie, to spare his feelings out of fear of upsetting him. Even though it was likely Bill would've known if the response wasn't exactly truthful. But not you. You didn't fear the result, and in your eyes- Bill Cipher didn't deserve to have his feelings spared.
So you answered honestly.
“No, I don't think we do.”
