My Queen, I’d Wait An Eternity

Summary:

“From what I've heard, nobody has seen the queen in years... It seems like everyone has lost hope.”

Buzzer doesn’t know what to do when the queen never returned from what was supposed to be a simple trip.

Notes:

Ok tower heroes fandom you can have me a little longer. Saw this dialogue while actually playing hideaway hive and thought it made for some crazy breezy/buzzer potential. This is technically tied to a silly fic rewrite I found in my google docs from like… 2021? Either way I have ideas for these two related to that universe. Yahoo.

Work Text:

“Oh, calm down Buzzer! There’s nothing to worry about!” Breezy brushed off the concerned hand Buzzer had laid on her- she was quite used to her bodyguard being clingy with her when she was stubborn like this. “It’ll just be a short trip to meet with the Slime King to discuss trade routes after the recent flooding of the plains. I assure you, there is no need for you to accompany me.”

Buzzer still held down though, and Breezy sighed. She was going to have to get real serious if she wanted her to listen. “Listen, Buzzer. I know how much you worry, and how that worrying is your duty. But please, let me do this on my own. I just want you to relax for a bit, okay? Just don’t worry about guarding while I’m gone. And once I come back, you can be your usual self.” Breezy gave her a reassuring smile. “But… if you DO insist on continuing to guard… then make sure nobody takes any of my jewelry from my room, okay?”

Breezy meant it as a joke, with how devoted her bodyguard could be. She could tell by Buzzer’s subtle tensing up she took it seriously. Very well then.

“I’ll be back before you know it, promise!”

Then, she left.

Then, days passed.

Weeks.

Months.

Years.

Yet Buzzer waited. Waited for her queen to return. The hive grew, but waited for their queen’s return. After all, she was so beloved. Surely she would come back. There was no way their queen would just abandon them all. Yet doubt began to creep in. Where was their queen? Why hasn’t she returned? Why has no word come of her location?

Buzzer knew confrontation was inevitable. She didn’t think it would come in the form of a full-blown overthrow of the crown. Buzzer is ashamed to admit this, which is why she will never- she hid during that revolution. Locked herself away in Breezy’s bedroom, an attempt to stay loyal to her last orders. She is not a fool- she knows she cannot take the entire kingdom in the name of the queen she still awaited.

Yet, she heard the sounds of fighting- she was relieved to know some still stood with the queen. It must’ve been hours before the noise finally stopped.

”We did it! I think that was the last of them. Great work everyone!”

…Hm. That wasn’t a voice Buzzer recognized. She looked out from the window and… those were not bees. Why would foreigners defend the kingdom? Did they hear of Breezy’s disappearance too? Buzzer knows she cannot let this chance go. She might finally be able to find out what happened to her- if she was lucky, find her.

Buzzer followed the heroes out of the kingdom.
