Chapter Text
In the paradise, everything was too clean. Like the setting of the smiling critters show. Too clean too much. When Catnap was killed all the pain was gone. The feeling of his body parts being spread out throughout the suit was gone. See, they weren’t just put in the suit, they were taken apart, too broken to be put back together.
The smoke in their throat that bubbled and burned was still there, it was one of the experiments they did first for some reason. It never went away, they were still in the suit since their body was in fragments in the suit, they could always back into their normal child self, Theodore
Still Theodore preferred Catnap, he preferred drowning in the constant reminders of the hour of joy and killing and eating his friends. Speaking of, they know he’s here, oh…they know. They don’t look for him he’s content with that. Always curling up in a cave not a home, which is what the prototype called playtime co…a cave.
He remembers sitting in a circle with the other kids, that will later become the other bigger bodies of the smiling friends. After their checkup they would have to talk and play with each other
Theodore didn’t talk, he couldn’t see the prototype or his imaginary friend anymore after he opened the gate and being electrocuted, he missed the prototype being alone in his room and the prototype calling him an angel for helping. Theodore stopped his mischief after being punished for such a stupid mistake.
He didn’t mind the other kids, in fact he adored them, maybe that’s why they chose him for Catnap? He was silent but always protected the other future smiling friends from bullies after everyone in the group got supper close, he guesses they wouldn’t want for a bunch of kids with huge bodies to hate each other. He was calming for the other children and he found that Catnap in the show was right about watching his friends sleep
Calm, protected and safe. Theodore fell in love with it, maybe that’s why the prototype chose him?
Back in the paradise, Catnap stayed in the cave until one day, they decides to leave like something was pushing their body too. Walking through the forest of the paradise in his big body was…a hassle, they don’t know why they’re here. They listens to the other conversations hearing that this is paradise, so why are they here?
Their body felt so much pain, it never stopped. Getting poked by trees and birds hurted, so when they were close but far from the other friends they turned into their child self. They all knew what he looked like, he was scared.
Catnap slowly walks down the street of the paradise resembling set of Smiling Friends show they gets stares from everyone…every single one are in their normal forms, everyone looked angry or upset that they were there, they could see their face….they could see his face
“Catnap, what are you doing here?” Dogday speaks up, to be honest they don’t know either. What caused them to leave the cave? They missed watching them sleep, watching their friends be calm and have energy and doing what they love, they always adored them, why did they hurt them
“Theodore.” Dogday says their real name, he remembers but Theodore prefers Catnap. “Why are you here, Theo?” He repeats his question a question without malice but anger “why didn’t you come before if the prototype is gone?” That was not what the kitten was expecting
Bubba came up beside Dogday, like the children they are the rest were confused “Cattie….” Bubba’s nicknamed for Catnap made him turn his head “Theodore…your home your safe” the rest came up and over too Catnap
Catnap shook their head pointing to their mouth, Dogday grabbed their hand softly “As long as you don’t hurt us again.” He pulled the kitty into a hug. Children seem to gloss over some things…Theodore knows this, the prototype told them but yet he burry’s his face in Dogday shoulder “your safe…” Dogday repeated over and over again into Catnaps ear
