Chapter Text
The wind blows harshly as Jimin waits outside of the studio. It’s not particularly cold, but Jimin dislikes it all the same. Despite it being the summer, Jimin feels cold because of the sweat covering every inch of him, dampening his hair and clothes. The wind isn’t helping either.
When is Hoseok coming out?
It feels like has been waiting for ages once Hoseok hurries out of the building, even though it has only been 20 minutes or so. Hoseok signals for him to follow, and he does.
“Hyung, where are we going?” The sweat is starting to dry and Jimin feels gross.
“Just to a nearby restaurant.” Hoseok smiles over his shoulder, somehow managing not to walk into anything. “I want you to meet someone.”
“Can’t I at least take a shower first?
“C’mon, it’s just briefly”
“You want me to meet someone when I smell like an old gym locker room? You’ve got to be crazy.” Jimin pouts at the older male.
“Ugh, fine. My place isn’t far from here, you can shower there.”
“Okay, thanks.”

~Twenty minutes later~
“Okay we’re here!” Hoseok says, pushing open the door to a small Italian restaurant. Jimin looks around. There really isn’t all that much to see aside from the red and green themed booths and little Italian flags everywhere.
“Oh my god hyung, this place looks so tacky,” Jimin says quietly.
“Shh, the food is good and it’s affordable.” Again, Hoseok signals for Jimin to follow him. The two maneuver around tables, making their way over to a booth which almost looks empty. Almost. The only sign that it is not, on fact, empty is a mop of blond hair peeking out over the top. They reach the table and Hoseok greets the occupant before sliding in across from him. Jimin hesitantly follows his lead.
“Yoongi, this is Jimin. He attends the same dance studio as me. Jimin, this is Yoongi, we have been friends since . . . I can’t really recall. A while, I guess?” Hoseok introduces the two. Yoongi smiles slightly at Hoseok’s inability to remember.
“So you wanted me to meet this kid?” Yoongi asks. Jimin bristles at being called a kid, but refrains from saying anything.
Who is he to call me “kid” anyway? He can’t be much older than me. I’d bet he’s younger than Hoseok.
“Yes, Yoongi.” A mutual understanding passes between the two, Jimin being left completely oblivious.
---------------------------------------------------------------
“So, what did you think?”
“I think you are trying to set me up with someone, hyung.” Jimin meets Hoseok’s gaze with an almost challenging stare. “You do realize that I’m not eager to start dating again.”
“I never said anything about setting you up. You are both people who mean a lot to me and I hoped that you two could become friends or something. I know Yoongi needs more people to call ‘friend’ in his life.”
Jimin is puzzled by this statement, but he understands Hoseok’s reasoning. If he was being honest with himself, he would admit that he found Yoongi incredibly attractive and is totally someone he could fall for over time. Jimin was surprised by himself when he first thought this, since Yoongi was definitely not what he considered “his type”.
“I’ll agree to being his friend, but nothing more.”
“Good.” Hoseok smiles happily, almost looking proud of himself.
Eventually the two split ways, waving goodbye to each other.
“See you tomorrow!”
“Yeah, later hyung!”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimin can’t get Yoongi out of his head after that. He looks forward to every time they see each other and eagerly get’s to know him, although he won’t admit to it. He’s happy to be helping both Hoseok and Yoongi just by being friends. After meeting a few more times, he realizes why Hoseok may have been concerned about Yoongi making friends. Yoongi isn’t rude, per say, but he has a tendency to be blunt and use crude language. He seems to put very little effort into attempting to be friends. However, despite his rough exterior, Jimin quickly realizes (with Hoseok’s help) another side to him. He’s a bit sensitive, making him easily angered but also making him a good person to go to with problems and worries since he sympathizes with others easily. He also writes music, lyrics mostly, which reveal some of his deepest thoughts. Jimin feels lucky that Yoongi shared some of these with him since Hoseok said he rarely shows them to anyone. The last major thing that Jimin notices is that Yoongi is very protective. At first he just saw him act protectively towards Hoseok, but eventually realized that it extended to him as well. If they were all walking together, Yoongi would walk next to the street, especially if it had recently rained. He would also put himself between them and dangerous and potentially harmful situations, such as a group of thugs hanging out at a street corner, a bunch of rowdy teenagers unaware of their surroundings, or a couple of drunk adults aggressively arguing. He also calls a lot of people “kid” even if they are obviously older, so Jimin easily forgives him for calling him that.
Jimin quickly realizes that his feelings towards the older male have increased far more than he had expected. Every time they are together he feels safe and happy. This, in itself, scares him a bit because of what happened the last time he like someone this much.
Yoongi can’t stop thinking about Jimin either. His smile appears every time he closes his eyes. When there is silence he can hear his laughter ringing in his ears. He was completely caught off guard the first time his heart started to hammer in his chest from just a soft look from the boy. Yoongi had never felt this way about anyone before, and the thought of potentially loving someone (outside of family) was foreign and frightening. However, looking at Jimin’s smile bursting with happiness makes him feel like it might be a challenge worth facing.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimin: Hyung, I think I like someone. What do I do?
Hoseok: Are you sure you like them?
Jimin: yes
Hoseok: Proceed with caution and try to avoid looking at them with rose-colored glasses
Jimin: That’s hard to do
Hoseok: I know, but you and I both know what could happen
Jimin: Yeah, I know
Hoseok: May I ask who it is?
Jimin hesitates. Do I want Hoseok to know yet? After much thought, he decides to tell.
Jimin: It’s Yoongi
Hoseok: Really? You aren’t joking, are you?
Jimin: Yes, really. I’m not joking
Hoseok: Well then, you definitely have my support. Good luck!
Jimin: Thanks. Goodnight
Hoseok: Goodnight Jiminie
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It takes Jimin quite a bit of time to work up the confidence to ask Yoongi out. Honestly, he is terrified, but he knows Hoseok trusts Yoongi and he has found no reason not to trust him either. Part of him is screaming that it won’t work out, that it could end up just as bad as last time. The other part is egging him on, telling him that he needs this much more than he realizes. That second part wins over the first and gives him the confidence boost he needs. He calls Yoongi and asks him to go to a coffee shop with him. A date. He doesn’t call it that though. He continues to ask Yoongi on these “dates”.
Eventually Yoongi asks if the outings were, in fact, dates. Jimin blushes when he admits it. The two go on a handful of “official” dates after that before Jimin finally asks if Yoongi will be his boyfriend. Yoongi seems caught off guard by the question, but happily agrees. Why wouldn’t he? He has fallen so hard for the small angel in front of him.

“Guys, this is Yoongi, my boyfriend.”
