Chapter Text
Nevermore.
Here she would finally be around her people, be able to make friends, and actually learn stuff that was relevant to her.
Well thats what her father had said.
She’d barely shut the car door when her father’s assistant sped off.
She was excited to attend Nevermore, of course she was, but she couldn’t help but think it was just a way for her father to be rid of her.
To be rid of the girl who so resembled her mother.
Her normie mother who had abandoned her father in exchange for a normie family.
But Agnes just let out a small sigh, and smiled, here she would be among equals. Among friends.
Up the stairs, swarming with other students, and into the entrance hall.
She’d read the admittance letter, and knew where she needed to go.
There were several tables laid out, with a sign affixed to the front, sorted into alphabetical order.
She looked for D, the first table.
“Name” the girl behind the table smiled.
She looked like she was a student.
Helping probably.
Short blonde hair with dyed streaks at the tips, and a bubbly demeanour.
“DeMille, Agnes DeMille”
The girl shuffled through the papers on the table.
“Here you go” she said, handing Agnes the paper.
“This should have directions to your dorm, and a copy of your timetable. Enjoy your time at Nevermore,” she smiled, the glanced at her watch.
“Hey Yoko” she waved “can you take my place for a couple minutes?” Then she shot up and pranced over to another girl.
She had jet black hair, tied into two long braids. She was shorter than the blonde, but wearing large platform shoes.
She was dressed entirely in black.
The blonde licked the girl.
And that was when Agnes realised, she’d seen people gossiping about them on the school discord channel she’d been invited to.
Come to think of it she was fairly certain she’d seen the blondes blog too.
It was Wednesday Addams, and Enid Sinclair-Addams, the most famous couple at Nevermore.
They had gained infamy at the end of their last term when they solved the mystery of a sudden bought of gruesome murders.
Enid had been greatly injured killing the monster responsible for it, and Wednesday’s discovery that the woman behind it was Nevermore first normie teacher had led to the early closure of the school, and the appointment of a new headmaster.
They might be interesting to follow, she could obtain gossip, maybe even blackmail, and post it on the discord, she could be popular…
Her ability made gathering gossip pathetically easy, being able to turn invisible at will has its advantages.
Smiling, and with a skip in her step, she began to make her way to her new dorm, her curly red hair bouncing slightly as she did.
…
Agnes met her dorm mates, but they didn’t seem to like her very much.
They were a vampire called Elizabeth, and a werewolf called Jessica.
Agnes didnt really like werewolves very much. She didn’t like anything that could smell her while she was invisible.
At least this one was still too young to wolf out.
She did however discover that Jessica was related to Enid. They weren’t the same pack, Agnes wasn’t really too clear on how packs worked, but her aunt was married to Enid’s uncle.
That was useful information.
The conversation had been going well, until they asked what her powers were.
It’s all to easy to be creeped out by invisibility…
Agnes’s first full day went about as well as it could.
Though as it was Agnes as well as it could, wouldn’t be considered particularly good.
She’d tried to navigate around while invisible, but the hallways were far more crowded than she was used to, and her hair kept brushing against people.
During her first break she was on the lookout for someone’s hairstyle to mimic.
She could shave off her hair, like that siren girl.
But even though her father barely cared to notice her, she was fairly certain he’d notice that.
No, it wouldn’t do.
But then she saw Wednesday.
Braids.
Wednesday seemed cool, maybe if she had the same hair, she would be cool too.
45 minutes and several YouTube tutorials, and Agnes had her ginger hair in two braids.
Just like Wednesday.
…
Her last lesson of the day was botanical studies. It was held in an awful, humid crowded conservatory, full to the brim with plants.
She sat down next to this slightly weird looking kid.
“You look just like my sister.”
Agnes gave him a look
“With the braids”
Ah, was he—
“Pugsley Addams” he said raising his hand.
That answered that question.
“Agnes DeMille” she answered, taking his hand.
“Ow” she received a small static shock.
“Sorry, thats my ability. Lightning” he added with a grin.
Pugsley amused the two of them by zapping the insects that seemed to make the greenhouse their home.
…
That evening the school hosted a welcome event, the founders pyre.
Agnes hadn’t really wanted to attend it, but she thought it would be a good opportunity to gather some intel about the other students of Nevermore.
🎶You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark🎶
Music rang out as the principal entered the stage.
“Good evening fellow outcasts! As you all know I am your new principal, and I cannot wait to see all your learning journeys.”
The crowd seemed unimpressed.
“Yeah!” He yelled, a vain attempt to build up hype.
The principal stumbled through the rest of the speech, before unveiling what he called “a monument to the great students who helped stop the Hyde, and save Nevermore”
It was a painting of Enid and Wednesday.
Wednesday was decidedly not happy, and decided to burn the painting.
She was so sure of herself, so confident, Agnes wished she could be more like her, wished she could get closer to her.
Agnes noticed something, out the corner of her eye.
Pugsley, sneaking off.
And being followed by a couple older students.
Blinking out of sight, Agnes pursued them, wondering if she might see something interesting.
“Hey Addams” the largest of them yelled.
Pugsley span round.
“What do you want?” He asked.
Agnes wasn’t sure he realised at all that he was in danger.
“Your freak sister, tell her to stay away from the wolf”
“What Enid?” He asked.
“Yeah” one of the others said. “Your sisters gotta leave her to us, we’re gonna… take care of her” he laughed.
“What are you going to do to Enid?” Pugsley asked, concern creeping into his voice.
“None of your fucking business” they stepped closer, encircling Pugsley.
A zap of lightning shot from him, into one of the figures.
“Ahh, you fucking freak” Pugsley was grabbed, they started kicking and punching him.
Agnes’s pulse quickened, she needed to get help when.
“Hang on, someone’s here” he said, sniffing, before lunging right at Agnes and grabbing her round the neck, and forcing her back into sight.
“We got ourselves a little stalker have we?” The biggest said.
“Agnes?” Pugsley exclaimed, before he was punched in the stomach.
Suddenly a crunch of shoes on grass.
“Well what do we have here”
Agnes turned to see a figure, large platform shoes, and a black dress, light reflecting of two sharp objects she was holding in her hands.
Agnes was dropped as a silver dagger came flying past the head of her captor, the group that had been tormenting Pugsley fleeing into the dark…
