Chapter Text
sunlight against her
silhouetted shadows shade
the empty bed yearns
Alisaie mentally discarded the poem with a furrowed brow and a frown, her arms reaching for fast-dissipating warmth from a body that was no longer tucked seamlessly against hers, like perfectly fitting pieces of one soft puzzle. Her missing piece was sitting by the windowsill, steaming cup in hand, body and neck and head tilted just so as she watched the celestial body peek from below the cliffs and clouds, a shy maiden embarking on their journey across the sky once more.
darkness chased away
the morning sun wakes anew
heralding the dawn
The gentle rays of first light shone against her red hair, setting it alight with hues of warm flame. Paired with the wisps of rising steam, it gave the impression that she was truly aflame; a phoenix undergoing the stages of its rebirth. Sometimes Alisaie wondered whether she truly was the sun in mortal form; a fiery passion to match, oftentimes boundless energy and love enough to care for all that crossed her path. Her actions melted snow and thawed even the most cold-hearted individual - perhaps it was no surprise Alisaie'd found herself irresistably drawn to her like the world orbiting the sun, providing life and light and warmth alike.
her beautiful smile
lights the room like a bonfire
i want to kiss her
Alisaie blushed at her inner thoughts and simultaniously bemoaned that she didn't have her brother's way with words. Tedious and irritating as he could be at times, no doubt her twin would have flourished in these exact conditions - painting the most imaginative pictures with flowery descriptions alone. Alas, her charm was never meant to be expressed in mere written language alone, but it was early and the bed was soft and comfortable and scented with the lingering fragrance of her beloved and so she stayed, buried beneath her blankets, longing for her woman just out of arm's length.
she welcomes the day
serene and graceful and pure
light pales before her
She blinked; her Warrior seemed almost translucent from this angle where the sunlight hit the window and fractured into a million million tiny rays, each illuminating her bare arms where the light caressed her skin - smooth and unblemished, rough and scarred; the latter outnumbering the former by leaps and bounds. She could count each imperfection, more often than not recount how it came to be, and with each her admiration and love only grew. How odd; she thought melancholically, that where scars are a swordswoman's shame, we come to wear ours with pride.
scions and sinners
scars and wounds and sundered selves
yet still she fights on
Alisaie pushed away the darker thoughts with a shake of her head. Those times were over; they had ushered in a new dawn with their own hands. All they had fought for and more, she needed only look to the window and beyond to see the fruits of their efforts. The sun had rose on another new day, and once more she gave thanks that they were here to see it.
as the sun shines anew
tales of loss and fire and faith
remembered for eternity
The soft covers rustled gently; the girl by the windowsill shifted and looked back, her growing smile radiant as the brightening sky. Without a word, she set her cup down and slipped silently under the covers, melding her body to Alisaie's once more, arms and legs seamlessly settling into time-tested positions of comfort and tranquil bliss. Alisaie buried her face into the crook of her partner's neck and sighed, breathing in her familiar comforting scent like a soothing balm.
warrior of light
my beloved little sun
i love you always
