It was Halloween day and the whole critter crew was planning to head to a park nearby that would set up a collection of haunted houses every year, they went every chance they could each time it was in town, so they were all excited to get there.
Dogday had just finished getting his costume on, he was a werewolf, and he smiled at himself in the mirror, this holiday was a lot of fun but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t get scared easily around this time of year. He smiled some and added the finishing touches with some fake blood before he called out, “Catnap, babe you ready?”
Catnap came out and smiled some, “Yeah I’m ready..” he still had to wear a medical boot at this point but he was still good enough to finally walk around again. So the boot was now a part of his costume, with some convincing from Dogday.
He looked over and smiled happily, his tail wagging, “ooooh you look so good babe!” he said happily. Catnap was dressed as a mummy, he was definitely a bit nervous in it but he seemed a little less so at Dogday’s excitement, “You.. think so..?” he asked, blushing a bit, not that one could see it under all the bandages.
Dogday smiled more and went over, hugging him tightly and lifted him a bit to swing him from side to side, “Yeah! My adorable mummy!” he said nuzzling him happily, with Catnap blushing the entire time as he hugged him back.
“Though it is very reminiscent of when you were back in the hospital, you were kind of a mummy then too.”
Catnap huffed some, “Don’t remind me..”
Dogday laughed a bit at that and set him down before cupping his cheeks and kissed him sweetly.
Catnap blushed a bit more but kissed him back, wrapping his arms around his shoulders. When they parted, Dogday’s tail had not stopped wagging. He smiled to him, “Okay, then we should go meet with the others now!”
They both nodded and Catnap grabbed his crutches before they headed out, the park was close so they decided to walk. Well, Dogday suggested they get an Uber or something so Catnap wouldn’t get too tired but he insisted, so they walked.
They found the rest of the critter crew chatting happily while they waited for them. Crafty was dressed as a witch, Picky was a zombie, Bobby was in a 50s style dress with the pink poodle skirt, Hoppy matched her, dressed as a 50s style greaser. Bubba was Doctor Frankenstein while Kickin was dressed as the monster. And Izzy had even shown up and was dressed as a haunted doll.
They walked up and Kickin smiled to them, “Hey you two! About time you showed up! Come on, let’s go inside!” he said happily, waving to them.
They all happily agreed and made their way inside. They got their tickets then looked at the small books they were given, all trying to decided where to go first, “Oh we should totally check out the pirate cave!” said Kickin.
“No way the haunted hotel first!” said Bobby.
Hoppy chimed in excitedly, “What about the horror maze??”
Suddenly they heard a familiar voice behind them that they definitely would NOT say made them jump and a few of them possibly scream, “I think the terror hospital one looks pretty cool.”
When they all looked to see who the voice was, they smiled happily, “Zeke!” he smiled happily to them and waved, “Hey gang!” he was dressed as a zombie nurse.
Picky smiled wide, “Hey! Zombie twins!”
Zeke laughed and gave her a high five, “Heck yeah!”
Catnap smiled and happily went to him, “Hey, what are you doing here?” he asked followed by a hug.
Dogday came and hugged him as well, “Yeah! I didn’t think you’d actually be free with your schedule.”
Zeke hugged them both and laughed some, “I know, I didn’t think I would either, but I was surprised myself when I was told I could! So I finally had a free day and I figured I could come have a bit of haunted fun~ bumping into you all here was just a happy surprise!” He said happily.
Crafty smiled some, “Then since were all here, we should totally check out the hospital one first.” They agreed and made their way to it.
They got into the line and all just chatted happily together while they waited. Zeke smiled to Catnap, “How’s your leg doing? Looks like you’re able to walk around a lot better now.”
Catnap smiled and nodded, “It’s been better, I have a feeling it’ll be a bit swollen after tonight though.”
He nodded a bit, “Make sure to elevate it and get some ice on it when you get home.”
He chuckled, “I will, and you can stop being a nurse for a little bit Zeke.”
He laughed a bit, “I know, I know, but it can’t help it, just in my blood to want to help where I can.”
Catnap smiled some to him, “I know you do, that’s something I like a lot about you, always so helpful.”
Izzy went to them, smiling and slid her one of her arms into Catnap’s and the other’s into Zeke’s, “Come on you two, the line’s moving.” She said and happily pulled them along.
Dogday smiled when Catnap got closer once more and kissed his cheek, making him blush. As they got closer, Zeke looked a bit nervous as Izzy let go to step in front.
Catnap looked to him then looked to Dogday who had the same expression, oh boy, he had two scared dogs to deal with now.
As they got closer and closer to the entrance, the two got even more nervous as they took their first step inside. Catnap smiled some and held onto both their arms. They both looked to Catnap then to each other and Dogday spoke, “Wait, are you scared easily too?”
Zeke chuckled a bit nervously, “Ah heh.. guilty..” he got scared easily by Jumpstart but he still had fun with them, that’s why he still liked doing these things.
Dogday was about to say how relieved he was to have a buddy that was also as scared as him but they both ended up letting out a yelp of fright as someone jumped out at them and both gripped onto Catnaps arms tighter. Yep, his arms were going to loose circulation pretty quickly tonight.
He’d be lying if he said he didn’t have a bit of fun with it though, even without them both constantly pushing into him to get away from the scary things or the scare actors.
Finally making it out of the house, everyone was laughing or trying to get over the fright.
Dogday had not and would not let go of his arm and Zeke was staring off into nothing in terror, looking like he had lost a bit of color in his face as he gripped his arm. Catnap looked to them both and cleared his throat a bit, “Umm.. could I have my arms back..?”
Zeke looked and let go, chuckling, “Heh, s-sorry about that..”
Dogday let go sighing some, “Ah jeez…those things always get me..”
Catnap giggled and kissed his cheek, “We can take a break if you want to Sunshine..”
He smiled some and shook his head, “No, no, I’m fine, we can do another!”
Catnap quirked a brow and chuckled, “If you think you’re up for it, then we’ll pick another.. what about you Zeke?”
Zeke looked to them and stood straight, “Yeah, let’s do another!”
And so they did, they went to a few different ones. They went to the pirate one, some kind of horror corn maze, lots of scare actors there, and then to one based off of a horror film. By that time, Dogday and Zeke had successfully managed to make Catnap loose the feeling in his fingers.
Picky sighed some after a bit, “Hey guys, I don’t know about you but gettin scared constantly is makin me pretty hungry.”
Kickin nodded, “Yeah I’m definitely getting pretty hungry, let’s check out the food stands!”
Hoppy ran ahead, “Race you there!”
“Hey!” Kickin shouted then ran after her.
Crafty, Bobby and Izzy just giggled happily as they followed. Bubba sighed, shaking his head. Catnap looked to the two canines by him, “You guys hungry?”
Zeke chuckled a bit, “I’m with Picky, getting scared constantly makes you pretty hungry.”
Dogday laughed at that, “Then it makes it the perfect time to check out the food, let’s go.”
There was a wide variety of food there, attached to the horror side of this little haunted horror fair thing, there was a whole side dedicated to food and candy. It all smelled delicious and oddly disgusting at the same time, no other proper way to describe all the fatty foods that were there.
Catnap grimaced at some of the food, some of it smelled like it was just swimming in fat. Dogday chuckled as he saw the face he made, “You think you’re gonna want any of this food moon?”
He sighed some, leaning on him a bit, “Yeah I think so, just not sure what yet..”
Dogday just smiled, putting an arm around him and rubbed it some, “We got time.”
It certainly took a bit but they all finally picked something that sounded good to each, was any of it healthy? Eh, not really, but that wasn’t the point anyway, not for Halloween.
They all found a pretty big bench that was able to hold all of them as they sat to eat, while chatting about each of the houses they had gone into and critiqued a few things while also bringing up their favorite parts.
Izzy smiled to Catnap, “How’s your foot feeling?”
He looked to her and chuckled slightly, “a bit tired, but I think I’ll be fine after this break.”
Dogday took his hand and kissed it, “Just don’t push yourself too much my moon..”
Catnap blushed a bit and smiled, nuzzling him with a soft purr coming from him, “I’ll be fine my sunshine.. I promise..”
Dogday smiled and nuzzled back happily, his tail wagging a bit.
After they finished eating they all happily went back to the haunted houses. Each one were so well made and got quite a few screams out of the group. Izzy basically had to help any of the girls who were a little too scared, she loved scary things, found them very fascinating and loved all the special effects that they did for all the scare actors.
Kickin basically hid behind Bubba the whole time while the elephant had to try and remain calm, even while he was just as scared as him.
Catnap was once again, loosing the feelings in his arms with Dogday and Zeke both holding tightly onto him. A few times they had even lifted him off the ground with how scared they were, which helped his foot honestly.
As the night went on however, he was definitely getting tired, he tried to hide a yawn but he couldn’t hide it from everyone. Dogday smiled some, “Sleepy my moon?”
Catnap looked to him and chuckled softly, “Mm.. a bit.. but we can keep going, I don’t mind.. I don’t want to dampen anyone’s fun..”
Crafty smiled to him and chuckled, “Catnap, don’t worry about it, I think we’re all getting pretty tired at this point.” She said and looked to the group. They had definitely slowed down at this point and a few were yawning.
Izzy came up and smiled some to him, “I know I’m definitely tired, this was fun but I need to get home and do a bit of homework left before bed.”
Bubba sighed some, “I agree, I have a few things to take care of as well before bed so, I should get going too.”
Hoppy and Kickin, the two that usually had the highest amount of energy, besides Dogday, were yawning and trying to stay awake.
Zeke chuckled going up to them, Yeah, I think I’m pretty scared out at this point too, this was a lot of fun though! Maybe we can all hang out again when I have another free day.” He said with a bright smile and his tail wagging.
Catnap looked at all his friends with their varying levels of tired and smiled softly, “Heh.. yeah that sounds good.. And well.. I suppose it’s a good time to finish up here then.”
They all said their goodnights and after one last hug from Catnap and Dogday to Zeke and Izzy, they waved them all off. Dogday looked to him and smiled some, kneeling down, “Come on love, I’m not going to let you walk all the way home after all that walking you did tonight.”
Catnap looked and blushed some before sighing, resigning to his fait and climbed onto his back carefully, “Thank you love..” He said as he gently wrapped his arms around his neck.
Dogday, got his crutches and held his legs up, adjusting him to get a bit more of a comfortable hold on him. Once he got him, he smiled back at him some, “You good babe?”
Catnap smiled a bit and nodded, already getting a bit sleepier now with a very soft and warm canine holding him.
Dogday smiled more, tail wagging a bit before they made their way back to the apartment. The walk there wasn’t very far but it felt a lot longer to get there than it was to get home. Somehow Dogday still had plenty of energy in him to get them back in record time while passing by a few trick or treat stragglers. It was pretty late though so not too many were left out.
When he got them inside, he sighed some and went to bring Catnap to the bathroom to clean off all the makeup they had on. Catnap was set on the countertop in the bathroom and he sighed softly, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
Dogday smiled sweetly, turning on the water to let it warm up as he got the bandages off from around Catnap’s head to get to his face better. He then got a rag and got it damp before starting to remove some of the makeup and fake blood. Catnap wined a bit in protest, making Dogday chuckle. “You’re going to be upset with yourself in the morning if you don’t get this stuff off you tonight you know..”
Catnap groaned a bit again then just resigned with a sigh. Dogday chuckled softy as he kept wiping it away then smiled more and gently poked his nose, making the feline grunt softly. Dogday then gently cupped his cheeks, following it with a sweet kiss.
Catnap blushed at the contact but just smiled some and returned the kiss happily.
Dogday chuckled when they parted then continued cleaning them both up. Once he was done with that, he kissed his cheek a few times then feathered a few more kisses here and there and anywhere he could reach.
Catnap giggled some at each of the feathered kisses, pushing at the canine some who only held him closer, tail wagging happily as he kept kissing.
Catnap kept giggling, “D-Dogday..! s-stop, we won’t be a-able to finish at this point!”
Dogday chuckled some, “Are you awake enough now to actually change without falling asleep?”
Catnap huffed with a bit of a blush, “I don’t do that..”
“Often..” Dogday said with a bit of a smirk as he leant down enough for them to be even eye level.
Catnap huffed at him again and lightly kissed his nose, making the spaniel blush this time. He chuckled softly, “Fine then.. Iet’s get ready for bed..”
Dogday smiled more and lifted him off the counter again, holding him in his arms happily, making the feline blush yet again. They had been dating now for a few months at this point but the canine being so affectionate with him all the time still made him blush, but it was so much better than he ever hoped for honestly.
Then he saw a very familiar, especially at this point, smirk, that came to the canine’s face.
He chuckled some, “I wonder if you’re awake enough for a bit of last minute Halloween fun, what do you say Kitty~?”
Catnap felt like his face was on fire now as he looked away embarrassed, “H..Happy Halloween then..”
Dogday smiled wide, tail wagging happily, “Happy Halloween~!” He said and quickly made their way to the bedroom while Catnap laughed happily, holding onto him tightly as they made their way to the room.
