Work Text:

It had been a cloudy day. Rays of the sun were blocked by the large, gray clouds and any that managed to escaped were further blocked by the curtains stapled to the walls of the one bedroom apartment. Hitoshi Shinso was a lanky three year old. Endeavor, Lady Nagant, and O’Clock action figures as well as building blocks were scattered across the living room floor. Getting mixed up with the dust and empty chip bags that littered the floor. Hitoshi held an All Might toy as he tried to make it sit on the doll-sized bicycle.

His mother, Tao, laid on the couch. Smoke rose from the cigarette clasped loosely between her pale fingers. She just blinked, staring off into space.

Hitoshi let out a frustrated whine as the action figure fell off the bicycle for the fifth time.

CLATTER!

Tao was knocked out of the daze she was in. “Wah?” Tao pushed herself into a sitting position and rapidly looked around the room. She slightly swayed as her black eyebrows pinched together as her brain caught onto where the sound came from.

Hitoshi had slammed the plastic All Might toy against an Endeavor action figure made out of the same material. Tao brought the cigarette to her lips, breathed in, and then tossed the partially used cigarette into the ashtray next to her. Tao rubbed the space between her eyebrows, trying to sooth her hungover and she let out a deep sigh.

Hitoshi looked up at her with a deep frown and watery eyes.

“Whatever you’re doing, stop, I have a headache,” Tao said, flatly. She couldn’t bring herself to actually care what was wrong.

Images of her estranged parents flashed in her mind. She internally cursed to herself. Tao didn’t want to be like her own parents. People whom Hitoshi will never meet. Though with the state of the apartment, she might be worse than them at this point. But she needed to try for Hitoshi and her fiancé.

“Hitoshi, baby, what happened?” So, the female omega rubbed her face and faked her worry.

“It won’t stay!” Hitoshi complained. He placed the action figure onto the toy bicycle. Only for it to fall off again.

Yeah, she really didn’t care. Tao slumped back against the couch, not fully laying back down.

“Come here,” Tao said as she gestured to herself.

With the All Might toy in hand, Hitoshi stood and walked over to her. Tao took the toy from and tossed it. The toy landed on the faux wooden floor somewhere, not that Tao cared where it landed.

“Why’d you do that?”

Tao didn’t answer as she ran a hand through Hitoshi’s unbrushed and uncut hair. She smiled to herself, proud that Hitoshi inherited the hair and eye color of her sexy fiancé. Glad, he looked more like him, rather than her unpleasant self.

Hitoshi let out a mewled as Tao’s fingers forced apart a particularly rough knot and he tried to push her arm away.

The mewling tugged at Tao’s omega heart, but that was it. Just a tug. Nothing more and, presumably, nothing less. Tao let a correction hiss in response.

“Hush, I didn’t hurt you.”

Tao grabbed Hitoshi and pulled him on to her lap. Hitoshi tried to wiggle out of her grip, but failed and Tao let out another correction hiss. She wrapped her arms tighter around him. She let out a yawn.

She moved and pressed Hitoshi down onto the couch. Now, on top of the three year old. With an arm and her body, Tao held him down. Her other arm snaked up to Hitoshi’s face. She gripped his chin, and forcing him to look at her.

“Mommy.” Hitoshi struggled against Tao’s weight.

A ring of golden wrapped around Tao’s dark eyes. “Come on, Hitoshi, let’s take a nap together.

Hitoshi squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head. However, he was too late as he felt Tao’s quirk work its way into his brain. It was warm and fuzzy, like blanket. But Hitoshi didn’t want to be wrapped up into a blanket, didn’t want to take a nap. He wanted to play!

Tao shifted her position and forced Hitoshi’s eyelids open.

“Hitoshi, let’s take a nap together,” Tao hissed. Her eyes still had the golden ring around.

Hitoshi’s thraot pinched in a way he never felt before. “Why do I have to take a nap, Mommy?”

Tao let go of his eyelids, “because baby–“ then she stopped mid-sentence and the light in her dark eyes drained. The golden ring disappearing and the affects of Tao’s weak mind control quirk as well. The deep frown that had been on her face straightened in a neutral line.

“Mommy.” Hitoshi said. He wiggled an arm free and grabbed the sleeve of Tao’s sweater. “Mommy?”

Fear ran deep in Hitoshi as Tao didn’t respond. Wobbly mewl escaped his lips and his eyes grew even more wet. “Mommy, what is wrong?”

Hitoshi tried to get out from under her. Panic mixed with the preexisting fear as he couldn’t. He shook Tao’s arm and he began to opening sob. “Get off of me.”

Then, to Hitoshi’s surprise, Tao moved. Her movements were robotic and stiff as she clumsily climbed off Hitoshi and off the couch. Tao stopped moving after she stood up. She stared blankly down at Hitoshi.

Hitoshi furiously wiped at his face as he slowly sat up. He was shaking as he blinked up at her. Confusion, panic, and fear continued to tore through his small, yet lanky body.

“Mommy?” Hitoshi asked again as he grabbed her sleeve.

Hitoshi, in his limited intelligence of a three year, tried everything he could think of. Shaking, poking, making loud noises, unfortunately for Hitoshi nothing he tried worked. So, in the end, Tao just stood there, unintentionally trapped within Hitoshi’s quirk for hours.

It was half an hour from when her fiancé and Hitoshi’s father, Hitoya, was due to come home. That was when Tao was finally released the quirk. Hitoshi, tired and wet and hungry and scared, had cried himself to sleep on the couch.

She had collapsed onto the floor when the chilly fog of Hitoshi’s quirk lifted. Her legs ached and her own stomach rumbled in hungry. A strange mixture of glee and irritability ran through her as she realized what happened.

“Holy shit,” Tao said as she crawled over to the ashtray, relighting the abandoned cigarette.

Then another bodly function hit her and Tao quickly stumbled over to the bathroom.

It was soon that Hitoya walked through the door, with cheep beer in the bag he carried. He wrinkled up his own as the smell of urine hit his noise and like very time he comes home, he grimaced at the mess. The cigarette Tao had, had been smoke down to the bud and currently, Tao was curled up around Hitoshi on the couch. She idly watched a rerun of a popular J-drama with a newly lit cigarette in her hand.

Tao lazily looked up at her soon-to-be-husband and smiled. “Hitoshi’s quirk came in.”

“What?” Hitoya sputtered to a stop, nearly dropping the bag in surprise.

“Damned mind control too.”

“Hold’on,” Hitoya held up his free hand, then he made his way from the living room to the kitchen.

Sounds ruffing and shuffing emerged from the kitchen as he made room for the beers in the fridge. A creaky cabnet opened and then closed. In just a few minutes, he reentered the living room. Two beers and bag of a kimchi flavored chips in his hands. While Hitoya was in the kitchen, Tao had moved. Now, she was sitting up and she adjusted Hitoshi so he was on her lap. Thankfully, he was still asleep.

Hitoya handed the second beer to Tao. Like she hadn’t drank anything in the past week, she quickly opened it and took a drink. After he sat down next to her, Hitoya followed suit and took a large, gulp of beer. A few drops escaped his lips and ran down his stubbly chin.

“Mind control,” Hitoya said over the opening crinkle of the plastic bag.

“Yep.”

Hitoya gave the sleeping Hitoshi a tired look. Then it transformed into a disgusted one when he realized the pee smell was coming from his son. “An omega with a mind control quirk.”

“Yep.”

“Damn it. You best set up an appointment with a stupid quirk counselor,” Hitoya said with a bitter, “also why is he in pissed soaked clothes, Aizawa.”

“Shinso,” Tao corrected with a laugh.

“Not yet, woman. You’re not a Shinso yet,” Hitoya shoved a handul of chips into his mouth. Annoyed that she didn’t answer his question, even though Hitoya already knew the answer.

Tao picked up one of the chips that fell into his lap and then ate it. “No, not yet. I suppose.”

Tao leaned in. Her lips capturing Hitoya’s. Beer and chips heavy on both of their breaths. Tao ran a hand through Hitoya’s short, purple hair. She pulled back from the kiss. “But soon.”

“But soon.” Hitoya gave her a toothy grin. He pulled her back in for another kiss as Tao slid a hand underneath Hitoya’s shirt.

Like I said in the Beginning Note, since this Omegaverse AU will be covering sensitive subjects that I haven't really written about before, feedback and constructive criticism is very, very much appreciated, especially to how I'm portraying these subjects.
