Chapter Text
The ground quakes with great tremors underneath him, yet it didn't deter him as his determination took over and controlled his body to continue. The light engulfed his arm—greedy to consume him from the very core of his existence.
Voices behind him was muffled by the loud buzzing the portal produces. He didn't care to listen. He didn't care to stop whatever he's doing to turn his head a centimeter to the side. Focusing on what he deems important for now.
Heat intensified on the rings embedded in his body. A futile attempt of restraining him to not enter the mysterious portal, that he created out of lack of stimulation... And for funnies.
After all, he's just a curious little eldritch horror that would have tortured anyone just by using his gaze—making them experience their entirety inside a artificial void he can temporarily induced without breaking a humans pysche too much. It always ended with the mortals in mental hospitals but at least they're still alive... Well, some of them.
He passed through the portals membrane, the muffled sounds abruptly ending like a light switch. The tremors were replaced with a great force pulling him forward into a mess of explosion of nonsensical colors warping around him. He looks so out of placed due to his dark color scheme.
The push wasn't uncomfortable nor was it pleasant to experience. It felt like his body is being rearrange, limbs contorting to smaller sizes, skin being torn and sewn back together. Yet it didn't feel painful at all.
It was more of a nuisance than a gruesome transformation, it also felt relieving in a way, since the rings that threatens to stab his wrist and head every time he got too dangerous—gets disintegrated the moment he entered the portal. He's only main concern though, is the feeling of his power slipping away and the slight tilt of the crown on his head.
Tiredness then starts to creep up to a being that doesn't need sleep, except whenever he wants to pass time. His eyelids sluggishly started to close, while his mind tries it's very best to keep it open.
But it all ended after darkness slowly consumed his vision to lull him into a state he sometimes calls a weakness.
...
"Ugh..." he opened his eyes, a scene he had long forgotten appearing before him as he feels the... Oh so incredibly soft green grass that he had longed to touch.
Lush green trees bristles above him, it's leaves flowing with the wind creating the odd yet familiar sound of fluttering. In the distant, birds sang peaceful melodies that further gave life on an unknown forest he was dropped into.
The wind whispers in his ear, gently urging him to sit up and relish in his newfound of freedom he accidentally cause—just because he listened to his desire and ignored the noises that he barely understand.
Soft splashing catches his attention, his head turning to a ledge that contains a slow moving stream. He tried to stand up, his footing clumsy and wobbly.
He looks down, seeing two feet with legs covered in pants and a capelet tied to his waist. His upper body... Is sealed with flesh and muscles that almost seems unbelievable. His two human hands touched his abdomen, only to discover that it is indeed not hollow—albeit a little too soft. Too delicate for a human skin. Too moldable to be permanent.
His fingers feels up and up until he reaches his face that is now covered with a single full face mask, one that seems to react exactly with his expressions in real time. At the top, he can feel fabric that is attached to his mask—helping to cover up his whole head down to his neck. There's also something soft underneath the fabric, but it seems to only exist on the so called 'scalp'.
It all felt like a dream. But beings like him don't dream no matter how much he tried. So this could only mean one thing...
He took a step forward, trying to mimic how mortals walk after watching them endlessly whenever they visit the banlands. He manages to get a good ungraceful two steps forward before falling to his knees.
The tentacles on his sides supports him as his legs feels extremely weak. He tried again, this time, managing to not trip on his own new two feet and reaching the stream. He stood tall before it, pride filling him after successfully walking for five feet from where he woke up.
It has been so long since he felt like this. Though it's only a simple task that most would have achieved, overcoming it for him felt like he defeated life itself.
He drops to his new knees and looks down, using the stream as a mirror to see his reflection. The prideful smile that was posted on his face for achieving such a great feat, at least to him, slowly devolving into a thin line as realization hits.
"... What...?"
Since Noli had been dropped in this 'whatever works' world with no way out, when he was just peacefully living his life—aka trying to find ways to entertain himself after spending hours under the water of the ocean of the dead in hopes of finding any interesting things. He had been blending in the weird society of huma- robloxians that was thrown at him like a brick.
Who would have known that trying to open a portal of an unknown destination, and entering it without a single thought would bring consequences? Definitely not him who, out of pure boredom, decided it's worth it when he has yet to know what it truly contains.
"you reap, what you sow." they said, an old saying meant to warn children of the outcome of unkind and malicious behavior. Some would think a being as old as time would understand this—but he's technically excused since he is older than time. Though, the age wasn't counted since there was no one to count nor anyone to be used as a reference.
By this time, it is natural to be curious what he had truly lost for it to be considered a consequence to a being that can create and destroy with a single stretch of his muscle.
Well first, the most important one is his voidstar crown. The second, is most of his power that has been sealed away in the aforementioned crown. Third, is his original body. Though if he's being honest, he doesn't mind the third one, if it won't interfere with his current life.
But what is his current life? Well, it's just him disguised as a normal robloxian, that managed to enter a university after finding out that the ones attending it ends up miserable and easily manipulated. This is definitely not about to be used to achieve his three important missions
Like learning more about the world.
Recruiting followers.
And the only thing that holds utmost importance: To return.
Yeah... Definitely a normal robloxian individual
He places the bolpens, empty or not, into a mini basket before arranging it to the side for the desk to look neat and tidy. He then moves to the floor— sweeping up dust to prepare the whole dorm and make it presentable for the inevitable arrival of his new roommate! Quite exciting isn't it? Having a new companion after the previous one left during the closing of the 1st semester after saying that they, quote "need to find themself."
It's not like he cares much, he already knows the true reason. After all, he's the one who indoctrinated them. Injecting promises of prosperity and happiness into their brain, so that they will follow him and join the massive family formed from desperate individuals—who blindly obeyed him like lost sheep's falsely recognizing him as a guardian dog, wearing a bell their leader often hang, and following him.
But he indeed didn't lie. He offered them protection, guidance, knowledge in exchange for their sacrifices. Same goes for his past roommate—who was unaware that the being that kept joining them in their dreams to whisper promises of a blissful existence, has been with them in the same dorm all along.
He settled the broom back to it's original place, before admiring the work he had done that he probably won't do ever again if not for making good impressions of his new companion. Speaking of roommates, he is supposed to arrive today, and apparently it's someone who's moved from his dorm due to his problems and for safety. He doesn't know why the guy is choosen to be his new roommate, but with his reputation as a mediator he shouldn't be surprise.
"A troublemaker..." he mused, putting a hand over his chin. That kind of personality an individual have would make it hard to "get along with", but it would at least give him a challenge he had been craving for a while.
Plus, it would give him time to actually know the guy. It's getting quite lonely without someone to talk to or just watch and observe for future use—since he can only see his "friends" outside of his dorm, and meet strangers at their lowest in parties. Which doesn't really provide much information because they would all act the same. 'not all hum- robloxians. Robloxians. Is the same right?'
While he's lost in the depths of his mind, A loud bang erupted on the doorway as the door swung open to reveal a disheveled, skinny, slightly taller young man wearing a burger hat on top of greasy brown hair. It looks silly on him but as Noli learned more about robloxian culture, it makes sense that this stressed man would have a hat.
"Hey-"
"|=### my life! |=### them! |=### that lady!" the cursing continues, moving from known insult to creative ones that made Noli quietly laugh a bit. The burger hat man carelessly dropped his bag onto the floor, spilling colorful notebooks with what looks to be handmade stickers and scattering pens onto the wood.
Noli only shook his head and crossed his arms as he watches the angered man continue to rant. The burger head finally notices him after a few more curses that sounded like wishful spells of wrath upon the aforementioned individuals. Slowly pivoting his body to face Noli and awkwardly stare like a deer caught in headlights.
"You done?" Noli asks, tilting his head to the side. His new roommate blinked twice before opening his mouth and closing it again and again like a fish out of water. Stuttering out unintelligible and meaningless excuses that ultimately ended with a pathetic sorry.
"Good." Noli smiled, letting his arms fall to his side before extending a hand towards his roommate "Name's Noli, your new roommate! What's yours?"
"Uh- 007n7. Name is 007n7." 007n7 took Noli's hand, firmly shaking it once before pulling away to awkwardly smile.
"Mhm, anyways welcome!" Noli hums, spreading out his arms as if showcasing the dorm they would hopefully share for a few months. "But before you settle down, would you mind? I just cleaned." he pointed down to the toppled bag and it's spilled contents.
007n7 looks down to the floor, seeing the mess he had made. With a wounded pride, he crouched down to pick up the supplies back to his bag. His face reddening a little as he clumsily stuff the bag with unorganized things.
Noli walks away from the scene, settling down at the lower bunk as he watches his roommate owns up to his mistake. "Sooo, zero - zero - seven - n - seven."
007n7 abruptly stops to shift his gaze towards Noli who lazily leans back. "Is that your actual name orrr... I mean I'm no stranger to others having numbers in their name, but I've never heard of anyone having their whole name all numbers... And one letter."
007n7 sighed, picking up his hastily zipped up bag to swung behind his back. "Is there a problem with it?"
"No- no, I just find it really unique." Noli responded, giving 007n7 a soft smile that's unreadable.
"Funny way to say ugly." 007n7 scoffs, already tired of being mocked for his odd name. It's true that robloxians have a extraordinary naming system, but he still can't fathom the probability of being given a name like this during the spawning process. Does Builderman hate him that much?
"It's true though!" Noli chuckled lightly, disregarding the condescending tone 007n7 used. "It's like a secret code name given to secret agents! Mr. 007! Mr. 007! It sounds nice!" he babbled, smile growing ever so slightly.
"Oh, uhm- thanks?" 007n7 blinks, slouching his posture as he places his bag on the singular chair they now share. He would wonder about where the other chair had gone—if not for his thoughts bombarding his mind that he had just set a bad example of a first impression. Not just because of accidentally revealing his temper, but also for the fact that he had tried to accuse the other of slander.
His mind wandered into the deepest depths of his brain as his eyes shift downward, while thinking of the ways he could have handled the situation much better. 'Ugh, this is bad... Really bad.'
"Hey dude, you listening?"
007n7 jerks back to reality, his body straightening as his head stood high. Noli tilted his head once more, awaiting for the man's response on his question "Oh- yeah, just thinking about my... Incredibly over due assignments."
"Good luck on that then." Noli gave a thumbs up, observing 007n7 as he pulled out a laptop from his bag. "Why did you put your laptop there?"
"Why? Is there a problem?"
"Yeah? I mean- you just dropped your bag earlier. What if your laptop breaks?" Noli pointed out. 007n7 only responded with silence, turning his head down to his bag and then back to Noli.
"Oh no..." he hastily opened the device, checking the screen for any new cracks that can cause detrimental effects to his laptop. After finding none except the old ones, he sighed with relief while Noli snickers off to the side. "Hey, don't laugh it's not funny."
"Aww c'mon dude! Turn that frown upside down! At least your laptop ain't broken." Noli giggled. 007n7 sighs at this, shaking his head as he turns back to his laptop—but looking back he did find it quite amusing.
He tried to frown more, but his body betrayed him as the corner of his mouth twitch upward. "Oh? Oh? What was that?" Noli pushes himself off the edge of the lower bunk with a cheeky smile, all while approaching 007n7 to scrutinize his roommates face.
"It's nothing." 007n7 pushes Noli's face away from him, sucking in his lips to prevent himself from breaking. "Even if it's funny, I still don't want to make it a laughing matter."
"Ohhh big words." Noli jokes around.
"Seriously! My sibling bought this, and I don't want to waste their hard earn money." 007n7 admitted, while powering on his laptop for his upcoming assignments.
"Still, smile a little! Can't have a Mr. Sad face around here." Noli jabs 007n7's arm, earning him an annoyed groan out of his new roommate.
"Shut up."
"Yeah, yeah whatever mister sad face." Noli points to the corner of his mouth, following it as it goes down while slowly backing away to his bed.
...
The dorm is dim and quiet. The only light illuminating the room is the faint moonlight passing through the window and the artificial light coming from a particular someone's device. On the other hand, the only sound being present is the hum of electronics from the kitchen, the distant rambunctious parties from the other dorms and... The annoying, frustrated grunts his roommate let's out.
He turns to face the man, who's the reason for his invisible eyebags. "Hey dude, can I see what your working on?" he asked, sluggishly standing up from his comfortable bed to confront the man.
"Why?" 007n7 raised an eyebrow, playing with the pen he's balancing between his lips and nose.
"So can I finally sleep." Noli straightforwardly responded, suppressing a sigh that he feels like would expend too much energy and make him pass out. He puts a hand on 007n7's shoulder, to further support himself.
"Fine." 007n7 turned the laptop a little bit to face Noli and light up that mask of his. He used the mouse to scroll while Noli examines his work. "... I don't know what's wrong with this... The script won't work no matter how much tweaking I do-"
"Here." Noli pointed at a misplaced number. "You made some mistake here." he noted, pointing out other errors in the single code alone.
"Oh... Let me just-"
"Also here, here, and there, then here." he continued to nail every flaw the script had, even taking control of the mouse just to zero in on the missed mistakes. Most being misspelled words.
"Ok! Ok! I get! Let me fix them first!" 007n7 threw his hands to his side. He took hold of the mouse to stop Noli from his onslaught, and returned to every single mistake Noli had pointed out. Fixing and changing them in accordance to the correct formula.
He's annoyed but relieved at the same time. After all, if Noli didn't intervene he would have spend the whole night again trying to fix something that could have been easily solved with a simple skim. He would get a lower grade too, and he doesn't want that mostly when it's for his already grade selfish professor. "There! It's all done!"
"... There's still-"
"Shush." 007n7 hits Noli's mouth with his finger. "Give me a moment." he grumbled, murmuring more things that Noli didn't care to listen to since he just wanted this to be over and go to sleep.
They spent a few more minutes on skimming the whole thing and testing it before 007n7 deems it fit. He sent it via email to his professor, who immediately responded with a copy pasted thank you.
A heavy relieve sigh escapes 007n7's lungs, along with the frustration that had built up earlier. Satisfaction replaced his now relaxed mind as the pressure on 007n7's shoulder left.
Noli drags himself back to his bed while 007n7 stretches his muscles. "Your Noli right?"
"Mhm..." Noli hums, wrapping himself in his blanket and not bothering to turn around to face 007n7. Only organizing the pile of pillows on the wall of the lower bunk.
While 007n7 found it a little rude, he choose not to bother his roommate anymore. He understands that Noli is tired and needs rest. "So Noli... I just wanted to thank you for tonight. I honestly wouldn't be able to do this without your help, is there anyway I can repay you?"
Noli moved his head up a little, staying quiet for a few seconds as if processing the information. "Just go to sleep dude..."
"Uh... Yeah, why not." 007n7 shrugs, turning off his laptop before taking off his burger hat. He stood up from his chair and climbed up to his bed, draping the blanket over himself to prevent chills.
It's quiet, serene, peaceful... Well as peaceful as it can be considering a party had just started at a dorm above them. The ticking clock and humming of the fridge acted like white noise on the otherwise still room, leading him to the embrace of sleep.
Yet while his eyes started to close, and his breathing slowed. He managed to push out enough energy to say. "Goodnight... "
"Goodnight to you too, 007n7."
Mutualism. Where two organism co-exist with each other, bringing benefits to one another. That's the whole point of having dorms and sharing them with another individual. But why does he get the feeling that not everyone can get along and form that dependance easily?
Maybe it's because his new roommate acted carelessly and recklessly? No... He can handle that. Oh well. There's really no time to think about a man he would probably see for what? 4 months? How laughable.
What would his next roommate would look like? Maybe another troublemaker would be fun. He doesn't care for the man sleeping above him, he just needs someone as an addition to the "family". But of course, an objects value had a chance to increase or decrease the more the tim-

Ehem. As he was thinking. An object doesn't always has a set price—that's why it's important to stay and obse-
Snooore.
... As he was thinki-
Snoooooore.
'Unbelievable...' he thought to himself, slapping his hands over his mask covered face. Already missing the tranquility that once filled the room.
The snoring is not that loud, comparable to a mosquito flying around and hovering over ears. But it is irritating. So much so that his eye started to twitch from annoyance.
He took both edges of his pillow and smushed it to his ears in an attempt to shut the aggravating noise that had invaded the serenity. Unfortunately it didn't do much except make him stuck in an awkward position. 'Why can't I have a peaceful night?'.
He flips to his back, his arms giving up from trying to smash the soft plush of the pillow onto his ears—instead now laying at his sides. He stared at the frame of the upper bunk, quietly contemplating about getting off the bed when he's already tired, mentally and physically.
In the end, he tardily got up from his bed. The lost of heat and sense of security gone from the moment he escaped the arms of comfort. He then climbed up of the ladder to the upper bunk, his eyes being graced with the sight of his roommate, messily sleeping with the blanket being haphazardly thrown and wrapped around his body.
He crawled up and over the sleeping figure, before poking 007n7's cheek like a nagging kid. "Heeeyy wake up." he continued to poke and prod at the individual.
"F-five more minutes Six..." 007n7 mumbled, subtly prying his eyes open to see something beaming before heading back to sleep. Another set of prodding finally made him open one eye to see who keeps bothering him—only to see two glowing white eyes staring back at him.
He yelps, sitting up immediately with his head colliding with Noli's. "What- What are you?!" he demanded, backing away.
"0\/\/¡, |-|3ý 1ț'ș j|_|st m3!" Noli groaned, his now distorted voice lessening while the pain is subsiding from the initial hit on his forehead.
"N-Noli?" 007n7 squints his eyes, adjusting better to the dim lighting the dorm provides. "What are you doing he-"
"1s ý0ur h3ad m@de of $teel?! D3ar adm1ns... It hurt$..." Noli complained, rubbing his forehead in hopes to ease the pain.
"... Sorry"
"It's fin3..." Noli sighed, the glitch almost gone from his voice. He went down the ladder stretching as he reach the floor. "Yoů snorę when you sleep. Just wanted to point that out."
"... Is that why you woke me up?" 007n7 made a face that screams "seriously?" without actually having to directly say it.
Noli, who only stared, realized that he made a rush and hasty decision. "Uhh well even if that is the reason, you shouldn't have hit me in the head for it!" he made an excuse.
"If you took off that creepy mask of yours, then maybe I wouldn't have mistaken you for a monster!" 007n7 blurted out, annoyance evident in his voice from getting woken up just for a jumpscare.
"What can I say? It's a part of me." Noli shrugs, adjusting his mask a bit since it got move from the surprise attack.
007n7 sighed, watching Noli fit his mask and fix the cloth attach to it before putting on his hood. "It doesn't look like it's part of you."
"Duh, I meant it in a metaphorical way." Noli placed a hand over his hip, while the other taps the surface of the mask. "I made it, by the way." he said proudly with a, literal, glowing smile.
"I didn't ask you who made it."
"But! Your still curious!" Noli said smugly, waving a finger. "And I, Noli! Would gladly answer the question your too afraid to ask!" he puts a hand over his chest and stretches his other forward as if he's in some kind of show.
007n7 stared at him like he's crazy or something. Yet he let's out a single laugh and the corner of his mouth turned up slightly. "Oh yeah? Care to entertain me then oh great Noli?"
"Well of course! A fan is a fan." Noli reaches inside his sleeves, dramatically pulling out a handkerchief and proudly showing the embroidery before tossing it aside. "You mix code and the code!" he proudly explained, planting his hands on his hips.
"... And?"
"I didn't listen to the lesson." he admitted, not a hint of dejection in his voice about his confession. "I still made it though. Before university!"
"Then what's the point of the handkerchief?" 007n7's eyes gazes over to the cloth on the ground, most of it's details lost to the shadows that consumed it.
"Flair."
"... Just admit that you had been waiting to do that, but the right situation hasn't happened yet." 007n7 huffs, a bit amused.
Noli made a clicking noise. "Fine. You got me." he throws his hands up, waving them to the side like a criminal trying to defuse an officer.
He picked up the piece of cloth on the floor before walking up to the lower bunk while 007n7 prepares himself to go back to sleep. "Also one more thing..."
007n7 halted on pulling his blanket to listen to whatever Noli has to say again. "Can you let me sleep first? Because you know... You snore?"
007n7 sighed, laying down to his bed with his back against the mattress. "I'll try."
"Great!"
...
Sunlight peeks through the windows, shining its rays of warm light to the once cold and a bit humid dorm. The wooden floor reflecting it onto the yellow walls, creating a warm and cozy look to the room. Soft shuffling of fabric echoes around the dorm. Joining the melodic, distant songs the birds sang just outside the window.
It's a perfect scene to wake up to. The type often showed in movies for introducing the main character, except it isn't about a teenager waking up late for her first day of high school. It's about a young adult having too much fun in his dreams, all while staining the pillowcase with his greasy hair that he has yet to wash since the day he started to pack.
The sleeping university student started to stir, his hands moving to massage his closed eyes to encourage them to open. He was promptly greeted by the sight of the white ceiling, the view bland and boring. He yawned, stretching his arms and legs while flipping himself to the side—eyes open by a small slit to prevent himself from entering the dreamland again.
The rustling intensified as he turns, accompanied by quiet whispers of pleas that he can't seem to focus on. With the remaining of his strength, he conjured a thought in his dazed state. 'What was that...?' he thought to himself, while fighting his desire to sleep over the control of his body.
After winning the battle, he lifted himself up from the bed with a long regretful groan. He pried open his eyes, tears from his yawns moisturizing it and helping him to adjust to the lighting. There, standing below, frozen mid pull of his baggy pants—is a man half naked if not for the pants being just a little bit over his hips.
"Uh... Good morning?" Noli greeted, with the voice of someone who had been woken up multiple times at night because of multiple alarms set in case the other didn't work.
"Who... Who you...?"
"I swear this is the second time you asked me that." Noli sighed, pulling his pants up to an acceptable height. "It's me? Your roommate? R-O-O-M-M-A-T-E. Noli? N-O-L-I."
"Oh." 007n7 rubs his eyes, pushing the blanket off of him when it started to make him uncomfortably hot. "Where are you going?"
"Somewhere." Noli slips into his hoodie before putting on his fingerless gloves. "Probably where I'm going to drain my social battery."
"For someone who sounds extroverted, you look annoyed." 007n7 noted, sitting up right as his mind starts to get less clouded from sleep.
"I probably won't be if not for a certain someone's alarms." Noli made sure to emphasize the S, turning his back to get his phone and keys to the dorm.
A heavy thud shook the floor, surprising Noli as he spins back around to see the source of the noise. Only to see 007n7 had jumped from the top bunk and somehow landed perfectly, before dragging himself off to the bathroom without even bringing some clothes or a towel.
Noli crossed his arms. "A good morning would suffice..." he mused, turning to the doorway and heading out.
It had been a specially stressful day. So much so that it felt like days has passed, yet it's only noon. 007n7 can't describe it, but he knows that once one more annoying obstacle came his way, it could actually give him a migraine that he won't recover from. Thankfully, the library is bare of any others. Which makes sense since there is no point in seeking knowledge when classes has yet started.
But if the break hasn't ended yet, why is he here trying to find a quiet spot to sit on? Well, maybe he if he passed all his work in time, he won't have begged his professors to be able to pass the over due outputs so he has a chance to improve his grade.
Now he's stuck with piled up work from last semester that he has yet to pass. He is grateful that his professors decided to pity him and give him time, with the cost of reduction to the final marks.
He sat down at one of the wooden chairs of an empty table. He pulled out his laptop and plopped it on the sheets of the table, turning it on so he can start at the last project he had to do—before he could either fight with the lady in the dorm management or his... Ex roommate... About giving him some of his stuff back that they annoyingly proclaimed that they own. That is, if he can even get close to their dormitory building.
It was no surprise that the management believed them when they accused him. One couldn't blame them because he had quite a record—but they should've at least investigated more instead of believing the cry baby's lies. But there's really no point about sulking anymore. He should be thankful that he wasn't expelled and only given a fine, because there was barely any evidence that he had hurt his ex roommate except some small grazes on their arm.
He did unfortunately earned a painful, agonizing, cold slow head turn from his already stressed, bills pressured sibling who had just gotten 6 hours of sleep. With a temper as thin as a single piece of hair, that his sister, of course, had to worsen by not reading the room to announce his sentence.
What followed after that was a series of the semester break wasted, and a threat from his sibling disguised as an advice.
There's no need to look back again. It's now behind his other problems. The important thing now is that he's surviving, thriving, and okay despite having being accused.
He pressed hard on the keys, spamming a letter repeatedly on the script he needs to finish. He slowly brought his hands up to his face, dragging them down then back up again. He needs to focus. He needs to focus now.
"Hard day?"
He snapped his head to the direction of the voice, finding a familiar masked individual sitting backwards on a chair. Inspecting the code he had just messed up "... Yeah."
"That sucks." Noli reached for the deletion key to erase the spammed letter, before moving to the mouse to scroll. "Wow... That's really long."
"It's not much..." 007n7 said, grabbing his water bottle to hydrate himself. "It's only a little bit... There's still a long way to go." he said as Noli took his hand off the mouse to let him take control.
Noli didn't speak or emit any sound. He stayed still like a statue as he watches 007n7 work, his hands swift against the keys of the laptop, eyes sharp and calculated. But he didn't care for that, he noticed the way 007n7 shook with the tiniest contact of the wind coming from the air conditioning, he noticed the subtle mistake and lost of focus from the way the fingers slightly slowed down.
"Observation is key." they say, and Noli could confidently say that they are indeed right with that. After all, finding the right timing is crucial for understanding, and it seems that the golden time had presented itself as 007n7 curled his fingers.
He straightened his back, making 007n7 sit still as a rock, expecting him to leave. But expections always meets reality. He slowly places a hand over 007n7's shoulder, his touch careful as if he's sacred to scare away a fearful prey.
"You know you can ask me for help right?"
007n7 didn't move or reacted to the sudden contact on his shoulder, only lowering his hands over the keyboard and bowing his head to take a deep breath.
They both didn't move, anticipation growing in the air like weeds on a fertile land. Only when 007n7 raises his head again did the weeds get plucked out. "Can you... Help me?"
Noli smiled, pulling 007n7 by putting an arm around his neck. "That's the- spirit..." he almost exclaimed, whispering the last part as to not somehow get hushed by the librarian that can somehow hear him from the other side. "Let's start with the mistakes first ok?"
"Mhm."
...
It took about half an hour before everything is clear and ready to be sent to 007n7's professor. Noli stretches, a satisfied groan escaping him. He observed his roommate do one more sweep of the whole script, probably afraid of making a mistake.
"Hey uh... Noli?" 007n7 called out, promptly catching Noli's attention. "I know we just finished this one... But... Can you help me in the other stuff?" he spun his hand, clearly gesturing to his other problems.
"Oh er, actually-"
"I'm not forcing you or anything!" 007n7 quickly interjected before Noli could excuse himself. "I know your busy, but..." he cut himself off.
Something heavy hang in the air, caressing both of them with it's bony invisible hands. Laughing as if the silence is amusing to it, like they were two clowns clowning on each other.
"Nevermind..." 007n7 exported the project, going to the email app to send the finished project. Noli only blinks, the light coming from his eyes flickering along with it.
007n7 laid his head on his palm, his face now facing Noli while his eyes are set on the screen.
He noticed the flickering lights coming from Noli's mask that seems to move in accordance to his emotions. It fascinated him the more he gets a glimpse but then... He saw it... A crack in that facade.
"... I mean I could." Noli scratched the back of his neck, looking away from the figure of the man in front of him.
"No, no, it's alright. Don't worry about it." 007n7 sends the email before shutting his laptop and checking the time on his wrist watch. "Oof, gotta go. I need to meet up with someone."
007n7 stood up, tucking the chair back under the table and snatching his bag up to his back. "Good bye Noli."
Noli tilted his head, blinking once while a smile formed on his mask. "Good bye then! See you later dude!" he waved 007n7 off, watching him go. He placed the chair back to it's original position, before moving to the opposite direction 007n7 had walked off to. A smile still plastered on the mask that has became his second face.
'Interesting.'
