Chapter Text
Beth sniffed, there was something very sweet in the air, her sluggish mind was catching up to reality as she began to wake up. She looked around blearily, blinking as she took in her surroundings. She was at the Den, right… the pack gathering last night she remembered now. Seer had dealt with some visions not long after everyone started heading to bed, they were currently still asleep in her arms, head nestled into the crook of her neck.
She looked to the side and saw them, glorious donuts, and they looked freshly made. As steam gently wafted off their sugary and glazed surfaces, drool began to dribble from the corner of her mouth and she was certain if she were in some kind of animated show her eyes would have turned into hearts with donuts at the center… but Beautiful was so cute… but she was so hungry… and were those mugs of cocoa?
Beth struggled with this intense moral dilemma, on one hand there was warm sugary goodness, on the other was the love of her life. Well… surely Beautiful wouldn’t want her to miss out, and if she waited too long the artery clogging ambrosia would get cold, which would mean Beautiful wouldn’t get to enjoy the food at its peak form either. She couldn’t possibly deprive Beautiful of that, it would be a crime for her to not wake them up to share this with her! Gently she placed a kiss on their head and gently rubbed their back. “Hey there sleepyhead, breakfast is here.”
A soft groan later and Seer woke up, they took in a breath, and paused looking a bit more awake. “Mm, you smell sweet.~ Can I get a taste?” They leaned in for a kiss.
The shifter grinned and obliged the request. “Anytime you want beautiful, but ah, that smell isn’t me. Look to your right.”
Seer rubbed their eyes before looking over at the small tray laden with pure heaven. “Mine.” They began getting up, as if trying to steal it all for themself.
“Wha- Hey! No! You are not stealing that all for yourself cuteness be damned! I knew I should have shoved your asleep ass on the floor and taken it myself.” She grabbed onto them using her shifter strength, not enough to hurt but enough to keep them from getting to the tray.
Seer blinked and stopped. “You mean you didn’t make this?” They poked her hard in the side and wriggled free, but instead of trying to steal the tray they gently pulled it closer to the bed so they could both reach it. The cocoa was even in the couple’s favorite mugs here at the Den, Seer had thought only Beth and Evie knew that, maybe Claire too but they weren’t sure.
“Ahh, nope. Woke up and this was just here, gifted to us from the heavens… I think someone might have closed the door as I woke up? Though the smell was what I was focused on, that and the donut thief cuddling me.” She says before biting into one of the donuts, she nearly melts at the taste. This one was one of the kind with warm fudge filling, and this was real fudge too. It had the perfect amount of powdered sugar spread atop, in other words more than enough to probably give most people diabetes by looking at it. “Ohhhh, ohoho Beautiful you have got to try these!”
Seer leaned over to try and reduce the mess of sugar with their bite, Beth had already gotten heaps of it on her shirt. They made a groan that was nearly carnal as it melted in their mouth. “Who do you think made these?”
Beth made a hum. “I mean could be a few of the older pack members… Evie… maybe someone ran in town to get stuff from the Diner? Hm, I think Khakis mentioned baking for events? This seems a bit much for them though, without intervention I think they subsist solely off caffeine, granola bars, and jerky.” She takes a swig of cocoa as talking about jerky sparks some memories. “Oh-oh, have you seen Khakis eating jerky? Seriously I thought our wolf forms were the pinnacle of tearing into meat, but that shit is just straight up terrifying.” She gives a faux shudder.
Seer laughs, the sweet treats and Beth hyped up on sugar was definitely helping them bounce back from their visions last night.
Meanwhile a certain Ranger was washing up the kitchen, smiling softly as they heard laughter echoing from the bedroom. They finished up and went back to bed before anyone noticed they had left, which was great because they would probably have gotten scolded about not sleeping enough. Strangely to them, they fell asleep much easier than usual when alone.
