Work Text:

Renjun hates a lot of things about Na Jaemin. He hates that stupid and slick smirk he wears all the time, like he's some untouchable king in the company of mere peasants. He hates how he talks so condescendingly to anyone and everyone, regardless of their status or secondary gender. He hates his muscles and how refuses to wear tops with sleeves, just so he can show off his defined biceps with more than a few battle scars. He hates how comfortable Jaemin was approaching him upon their first meeting without knowing a thing about him, yet flirted with him like it was no issue at all. Most of all, Renjun hates how Jaemin treats his boyfriend.

Renjun wasn't sent over to infiltrate Jaemin's crew to save his ditz of an omega. He was actually sent there because Jaemin was a traitor, having been a part of their organization years prior just to run off without a trace and re-emerge as an enemy. Renjun was originally just meant to be a honey trap. A pretty face who would sleep with Jaemin and get some secrets, but then some crazy shit happened behind the scenes with the big guys, which caused Renjun to suddenly get a call saying that he can take out Na Jaemin at his earliest convenience. No problem for Renjun, because he was praying that he'd get a chance to do that anyways.

Renjun wouldn't call Jaemin and his omega polar opposites personality wise. Both are sweet in a sense, the difference being that Jaemin's sweetness is often coded and transactional, Chenle's is genuine. Jaemin is a charming guy, as is Chenle. Jaemin is good at sweet talking people into giving him what he wants, because nobody thinks that a pretty face and even prettier words are going to lead them astray. Chenle is also good at getting what he wants out of people, not because he's manipulative and calculated like Jaemin, but because he's so cute and clueless that you feel endeared to the point of doing whatever he wants.

Hell, Chenle is so naive that it pisses Renjun off. He goes to sleep every night wondering how those two got into a relationship. Renjun knows that Chenle is naive, that much is obvious by his demeanor, but he would've thought that he was perceptive enough not to get drawn into such shady business through a man like Na Jaemin. Fortunately for him, he won't be wrapped up in this sketchy business for much longer. At least if he knows what's good for him. When your gangster boyfriend turns up with a bullet in his head, you'd better take that as a sign to get the hell out of dodge and do something better with your life.

Oh! And the other thing that pisses Renjun the fuck off? Why Chenle knows that there's something inappropriate going on between Renjun and Jaemin, yet doesn't say a word. He has to fucking know. And that's also why Renjun is sure that this whole ditz thing isn't really an act, because any self-respecting omega involved in this lifestyle would've shot Renjun's skull full of Teflon already. Renjun should be dead, but Chenle hasn't killed him yet.

"Here!" Instead, Chenle sits with him at the bar, sliding a glass over to him after whipping up their third round of Long Island Iced Teas for the night. "I went heavy on the rum this round."

"Thanks." Renjun takes a sip, cringing as the drink hits his tongue. He understands what Chenle meant immediately. "You know when Jaemin's gonna be in?"

Chenle doesn't seem to have a care in the world about another omega asking about his alpha's whereabouts, just shrugging his shoulders and taking a sip of his drink. "Not sure. Said he was gonna oversee some brick packing operation."

"I see." In short, Jaemin's out there seeing another omega. His people don't handle brick shipments, and that's a commonly known fact in their sphere. Seems like Chenle asked where Jaemin was going, and he fumbled and said that. It also just goes to show that Chenle really doesn't know shit about what's he's gotten into, because why doesn't he know that? "How did you and Jaemin meet?"

Chenle chuckles, taking another sip of his drink. "I don't know. It's a little embarrassing."

Renjun doubts that there's anything more embarrassing than everyone knowing that you're getting cheated on besides you. Even more so that he seems to know, but pretends that he doesn't for whatever reason. "I don't judge."

"I worked at a strip club."

Now that adds some very necessary context to this relationship. Some stuff immediately starts to click for Renjun.

"You don't need to be embarrassed about that." Like Renjun said, that's probably the least of his worries. And at least it was clean money, something that a lot of them can't relate to.

"Yeah, I know, but it is always a bit weird to just say."

Renjun thinks that Chenle would actually be the perfect stripper. He'd make every person who bought a dance from him feel like the most important person on earth, because that's just how Chenle interacts with people normally. He'll somehow make the most mundane parts of someone's day sound extravagant, questioning them like they just told him that they're the queen of England.

"What kind of guys do you like?" Chenle switches the topic, and it tells Renjun that the strip club is a sore spot for him. "Do you like guys? I'm sorry to assume. Maybe you like girls!"

"I like guys." Renjun tried girls out, but he realized that he was unfortunate enough to only like men. Pickings are slim these days, especially for a guy like Renjun. The majority of the guys that Renjun is in proximity with are just different versions of Jaemin. Less confident Jaemin. Less charming Jaemin. Less manipulative Jaemin. More manipulative Jaemin. And Renjun doesn't like guys like that.

"Do you have a preference in secondary gender?" Chenle asks.

Renjun isn't a big fan of alphas, which is sort of ironic considering that his choice of lifestyle requires him to be around them most of the time. Not to say that he wouldn't be with an alpha, but he prefers people who don't have dominance running through their veins. He is deeply unsettled by people who are genetically predisposed to be stronger than him, more dominant than him, and have the ability to make him do things against his will. Again, this doesn't totally disqualify alphas, but Renjun leans more towards betas and omegas. And If Renjun had to choose a real living person that he's met before as the standard for his ideal partner, even though it's not this specific person, he would choose Chenle. Chenle has what he would look for in a partner. Probably less naive. Definitely way less naive, but he's Renjun's type on paper in appearance and many aspects of his character. But for every twenty Jaemin's there's maybe one Chenle, and in this case, the Jaemin and the Chenle are together.

Not for long anymore, but they're together. And Renjun wouldn't want the problems that come with this Chenle when there's plenty of fish in the sea.

"Not really," Renjun lies. "If I like someone then I like them."

"I see." Chenle nods, wiping off some of the condensation from his glass. "I think that I like alphas, but I'm used to a lot of different types of people, if you know what I mean."

"Yeah," Renjun agrees, just saying it to move along the conversation. "You learned how to bartend there too?"

"I started off as one," Chenle answers. "But then I realized there was more money to be made on the stage. Now I just do it here to kill time."

"Right." Renjun takes another swig of the drink, and then scopes the scenery out once his nostrils catch a familiar whiskey scent, and it's not coming from behind the bar.

"Hey, baby." Muscular arms snake around Chenle's shoulders, pulling him back into a broad chest before he finally pulls him in for a kiss.

"Hi," Chenle greets when they pull away, looking back at Jaemin with nothing short of admiration in his eyes. Jaemin looks at Renjun, giving him one of those thousand dollar smiles and pinching his cheek.

"Hey."

Renjun pretends to be interested, because he's been playing the role of one of Jaemin's boy-toys for the past couple of weeks. "Hey." He smiles in a friendly manner, but not too friendly because Chenle is sitting right there. Then again, it's not anything that he already doesn't know about.

"I'm just gonna grab my jacket and then we can go." Jaemin presses another kiss to Chenle's cheek before heading off behind the bar.

"I'll see you later, then?" Chenle asks as if they don't see each other nearly everyday.

"Yeah," Renjun confirms. "I'll see you later."

Jaemin comes back with his decorative leather jacket thrown over his shoulder, because he never actually wears it, and grabs Chenle's hand. Chenle waves again as he's escorted out the bar, Renjun waves back. Right before they leave, Jaemin turns around and shoots Renjun a wink, and all Renjun can think is, 'what an asshole.'

Judgement day comes sooner than Renjun expects, and in the form of Jaemin inviting him over under the guise of 'talking business.' What business people think that they have to talk about? Renjun hasn't got a clue in the world. Chenle is at the doctor, and Renjun wonders why Jaemin didn't accompany him. So they sit on the very bed that Jaemin sleeps on Chenle with, wine glasses in their hands and a handgun weighing on Renjun's hip. Jaemin's guard needs to be down when he strikes. Ideally, he'll naturally create a bit of distance. Enough so that Jaemin can't just lunge forward and wrestle the gun out of his hand. Then he'll just go for the kill. Preferably in one blow, but two isn't horrible either.

"This blanket is really soft," Renjun comments, twirling the pink fibers between his fingers.

"It's custom made," Jaemin boasts. And it'll be even more personal when his blood is spilled out onto it. Really limited edition—none else like it.

Renjun rests his glass on the nightstand and shimmies off of the bed. "I need to use the restroom if that's alright with you."

He's doing this now.

"No problem," Jaemin states, taking another sip of his wine as Renjun walks towards the bathroom door. And once he determines the distance safe, he pulls the gun from his pocket, aiming it at Jaemin and shooting without warning. It all happens so quickly that Renjun doesn't even get the satisfaction of watching the life drain from Jaemin's face. He's just alive one moment, smug and drinking his wine that apparently was made from grapes straight from Martha's Vineyard. The next moment he's dead, blooding pouring from his head, bleeding into the bright pink cover right with his fancy wine.

What Renjun wasn't anticipating was the door flying open, Chenle standing there with his entire body shaking. He turns the gun on Chenle, knowing that he needs to pull the trigger. Kill the witness before he can run off and tattle.

"Renjun!" Chenle shrieks, falling to his knees as if he's been betrayed in the worst way possible. And maybe he has. Slighted by a friend, or somebody he saw as a friend. Renjun doesn't think that they were really friends, just friendly. Cordial. Kept common company of the now deceased Na Jaemin.

Renjun averts the gun, pointing it to where Chenle now kneels on the ground, shaking like a scared puppy as tears flood his face and distress pheromones fill up the home. The good thing about filthy rich people who are up to no good is that they love to live in the middle of nowhere, and no matter how potent the signals that Chenle's releasing are, nobody will pick up on them.

"Why! Why are you doing this!"

Renjun's finger rests on the trigger, ready to pull and release, ending this whole ordeal right here.

"I thought that we were friends!" The way that Chenle's voice strains has bile raising in Renjun's throat. "You're really going to kill me?"

Renjun gulps, suddenly second guessing, but still, he musters up the courage to place pressure on the trigger.

"Renjun! Renjun!" Chenle screams, face white as a ghost, looking like he's about to throw up himself. "Please!"

And Renjun pulls the trigger, sending another bullet straight through Jaemin's leg.

"Come on," he grunts, putting the gun on safety and shoving it in his pants. He barrels through the room door, grabbing Chenle by his arm and forcing him to stand. He might be making a foolish decision by keeping Chenle alive, but something in his system just wouldn't allow him to kill the stupid omega. Na Jaemin deserved to die, but Renjun hasn't been able to make that judgement about Chenle just yet.

The ride to the safe house is full of whimpering and crying from the passenger's seat. Renjun tells Chenle to shut up a couple of times, but he cuts him a little slack. He just had to look at his boyfriend's dead body. Renjun forced Chenle to toss his phone out the window almost two hours ago, so it's made for a quite awkward ride. Not even the radio has been able to salvage it. Not while he can hear Chenle's cries above it.

Renjun gets omega privilege, which means that he can hang out at the safe house off the grid while the alphas handle all the dirty work that comes after such an important person is killed. Once the smoke clears, he can show his face again. That's probably one of the only benefits of being an omega in this line of work, because an alpha would've been forced to stay and claim that kill, and then just hope that they can shoot faster than their opponents.

So the house on the edge of the city is where he'll reside, now with the company of Chenle until Renjun decides what to do with the other omega. Once they find Jaemin's body it might not even be safe for Chenle to return, because that may make it look like Chenle was the one who killed him and ran off for whatever reason. Not that Renjun would allow him to go back and potentially snitch, anyway. Renjun also doesn't think that it's good to keep Chenle around himself for long either. He has no use for the omega. He's just going to be another mouth to feed for the hopefully only a few days that he's here. Just a burden that Renjun was too guilty to dispose of properly, and has not a clue in the word what to do with next.

"Come on." Renjun parks the car in front of the home, which is small and humble. An open concept living room that doubles as a bedroom, with a kitchen and a bathroom. Nothing extravagant, because nobody really stays here for long.

He pays Chenle no more mind once he gets out the car, grabbing his luggage from the trunk and dragging it in. Chenle trails behind slowly. Warily. Renjun unlocks the door, entering the home and resting his bags to the side. The first thing he does is check the kitchen, making sure that Donghyuck stocked up everything that he asked him to. He's not exactly a chef, so there's an uneven ration of prepared foods to fresh ones. Renjun will be able to make runs to the store as he needs, because it's not like he's running from the cops, or that anyone even knows that they're looking for him in particular. It's just a precaution. Just in case someone decides to look into the omegas that started hanging around Jaemin in the weeks prior to his death.

He turns around to see Chenle just loitering near the door.

"You can sit." Besides the floor there's only one place to sit, and that's the bed. Chenle takes it, back as straight as a ruler. Tense. Renjun almost asks him if he's okay, but decides against it, knowing that he's the reason that Chenle is undoubtedly not okay.

"Were you really sleeping with Jaemin?" Chenle suddenly asks. There's a metallic edge to his scent, enough to indicate that he was afraid to say that. Renjun's not a ticking time bomb, at least not right now, and if he chose not to shoot Chenle two hours ago, then he's not going to do it today. He can't guarantee that for the future, but it's today's reality.

"I was," Renjun answers, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. He's doesn't ask Chenle if he wants one, just grabbing another bottle to give him. "I don't see why you were with him. He was a chronic cheater."

He sits down next to Chenle, ignoring how the omega jumps once he does. He hands Chenle the bottle, and he accepts it, resting it on his lap while Renjun takes a swig.

"He saved me from a bad situation." Chenle holds the water bottle to his stomach, pressing it there for whatever reason. Renjun once again doesn't ask.

"I'm gonna go to sleep," Renjun says, resting his bottle to the side and rolling onto his back, laying down. It's already getting late, and he's ready to call it a night. "You can watch TV, and if you're hungry there's food in the kitchen. Just keep the TV low."

Renjun experiences a sensory overload when he wakes up, feeling hot, wet, and overwhelmed by the scent of condensed milk filling his nostrils. He knows that he's not going into heat, because he's an avid suppressant user, only allowing himself one heat a year.

It's no surprise when he opens his eyes to see Chenle laying next to him, still sleeping, but dripping in sweat.

"Jesus fucking Christ," he grumbles, rolling over and getting off of the bed. He spared this motherfucker's life just for him to go into heat on him? While they're in the middle of fucking nowhere? Words can't even describe how angry Renjun is right now, and he doesn't know what to fucking do. He can't just leave him outside. That would eventually draw someone to the house. And Renjun isn't equipped to deal with an omega in heat. He can't even deal with himself in heat, and that's why he chooses to only go through with it once a year even though the suppressants are definitely killing his insides.

Renjun walks around the small kitchen island, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge and chugging it. Chenle made his body feel like a furnace.

Small moans start to come from Chenle as he stirs awake. Renjun groans loudly, needing some sort of outlet for his anger. It's dramatic, but he grabs the gun off of the counter, crossing his arms as he stomps back over to the foot of the bed.

"Did you know that you were going into heat?" Renjun can tell that Chenle's barely lucid, his eyes lidded and dark. He crawls over to the edge of the bed and stops in front of Renjun, kneeling there. The air hangs tense, warm and damp from the pheromones being released.

"Yesterday I was at the doctor to get a new prescription," he answers, his eyes falling to the gun. It's miles different than he acted the previous day, crying and begging for his life. His heat is messing with his ability to assess danger. A good reason for Renjun to avoid those things like the plague, because it's insane that Chenle's head is to clouded by arousal enough that he sees the man who killed his boyfriend and almost him the previous day as no big deal.

"You could've said something." Renjun's heart pounds, the sound echoing in his head. Unable to grasp what he should do next, he raises the gun to Chenle's head, pressing it to his flushed skin. "Give me one good reason not to kill you."

Chenle gives him something like a reason, grabbing the gun by its barrel and moving it to the side, calling Renjun's bluff. And then he wraps his arms around Renjun's neck, smashing his lips on his. Stunned, Renjun freezes and drops the gun. This doesn't stop Chenle, the other omega pulling Renjun towards him. Renjun finally acts, grabbing Chenle's chin and pulling away.

"What the fuck is your problem?" Renjun scolds him, hoping that convincing himself that he didn't like it causes the tent in his pants to shrink.

"Renjun, please," Chenle pleads. He sits back, spreading his legs and revealing the dark gray slick stain forming on the ass of his sweatpants. "Don't you like omegas?"

"Stop it," Renjun demands, his voice shaking. He's not an alpha, and he can't help an omega in heat. He doesn't want to help Chenle, because what would he gain from that? A bunch of sheets to wash in the fucking bathtub. He should kick Chenle to the curb. Put him out and tell him to figure it out. Better yet just dispose of him completely. That's a better fate than sending an omega in heat outside to fend for themself.

"Renjun." Chenle's voice is desperate. Everything about him is desperate right now. The way that his hair is stuck to his forehead, his hard on poking through his pants, the slick stain, the potent and suffocating pheromones his body is pumping out. "You killed my boyfriend. I had to stare at his dead body—sit in the car and sleep in the same bed as his killer. Haven't I suffered enough? You're gonna let me suffer like this? Why would you even spare me?"

Chenle starts to undress, starting with his pants. He pushes them down, fumbling and kicking them to the side. His underwear's in no better shape, the red briefs wet in the ass. Renjun tries to gather his words, refocus, but his eyes are trained on Chenle's knees, pink and knobby.

"I could still kill you," Renjun threatens, slowly bending down to reach for the gun.

"But you don't want to kill me." Chenle's voice becomes shaky, and when Renjun dares to look back up, the omega is crawling back to the edge of the bed, teary eyed. "You don't want to, because if you wanted to, you would've done it already."

Chenle stands up, kicking the gun away before Renjun can grab it. "Stop it," he whines. His hands grasp Renjun's shoulders, looking down at him as the tears finally begin to fall. "You know that you want to. And you know that I need you. So please."

Renjun doesn't get to speak before Chenle drops down to his knees. He doesn't stop Chenle when his fingers tuck under the waistband of his pants and underwear, tugging them down.

"If I help you, will you help me?" He doesn't wait for an answer before taking Renjun's cock into his mouth. Renjun's nails dig into his palm; he strains to hold back his moans, because Renjun doesn't like Chenle. He just likes omegas like Chenle, who tend to be docile and sweet. Sunny demeanor and can hold a good conversation. Overly physically affectionate and likes to rest their hands on your thighs, or cuddle up to your side.

"I'm not gonna be of any use to you if I come right now." Renjun grabs Chenle's hair and tugs him off of his dick, spit trailing as they separate. He pulls Chenle to stand, and the omega follows suit, allowing himself to be bent over the mattress. The back of his underwear are soaked, and Renjun would be a liar if he said that he didn't feel his own hole leaking just the same. He ignores it in favor of attending to Chenle, because that's what he needs to do.

"Renjun!" Chenle whines once the other omegas finger start tracing his pulsing rim, slick being produced by the gallon. "I don't need it. I can take you."

Renjun knows that Chenle can take him, because it's not like he has much to give. An omega in Chenle's state could probably take an alpha with no prep either, but he truly doesn't need any prep for Renjun. And Renjun knows that it's not enough to satiate him. Maybe enough to get him through this first wave, but by the time that the next one hits, he'll be inconsolable.

That's something to worry about later, so he lines himself up with Chenle's hole, intending to take it slow until the other omega reaches back and grabs the backs of Renjun's thighs, pulling him forward. He's sucked in by Chenle easily, engulfed in his warmth. Renjun doesn't have long to savor the initial slide, knowing that Chenle is beneath him wanting to be pounded into the bed. He grabs one of Chenle's arms, tearing it from his own thigh and pinning it to the ailing omega's back, the other grabs his head, pushing it down into the mattress as he begins to pound into Chenle's ass.

"Shit," Renjun grunts. He hasn't done this is so long. It's hard to find other omegas that like omegas, and even harder to find ones that actually want to get fucked instead of just rubbing against each other. "Fuck— Chenle— You're so tight—" With every thrust out, Chenle's hole draws him back in just as quick.

Chenle whines, moans muffled by the covers escaping his lips with every thrust. Renjun doesn't want to hear his mouth, so he keeps his face shoved into the bed. He's satisfied with hearing his own moans. The sounds of skin slapping together, wet and sticky from Chenle's slick still dripping from his rim. Renjun finally frees his grip on Chenle's head, moving his hand between Chenle's legs and stroking his cock. Chenle's hips stutter back, attempting to build back the momentum that Renjun lost when he shifted his focus.

"Fuck— Renjun—" Chenle's lower body is weak, but he still manages to throw his hips back, getting Renjun's cock to hit deeper inside of him.

Just like Renjun suspected, when they come, Chenle is somewhat adequately satiated. His legs give out, and Renjun has to help him get onto the bed. He smiles at Renjun, dazed by the afterglow, which makes him feel guilty, because Renjun wouldn't smile at himself after what he's done.

"We need to eat." Renjun pulls back on his underwear and walks into the kitchen, washing his hands. He's really glad that Donghyuck brought food that he could just pop in the microwave, because he is in no shape to cook. And speaking of Donghyuck, Renjun's gonna need to call for another favor.

He brings the food and some water over to the bed, first forcing Chenle to take a couple of sips.

"How are you feeling?" Renjun asks, handing Chenle a spoon. "And eat."

"Hot," Chenle answers briefly, before taking a spoonful of food.

Their meal is mostly shared in silence, besides when Chenle asks who made it. Donghyuck is a decent cook—one of his more omega-like features. Ones in this line of work usually break the mold, which is why Chenle was a fascinating case. Even if he didn't necessarily choose it, it's still interesting how he never quite adjusted. Renjun wonders if he can even shoot a gun. Has he even gotten his hands dirty? An omega suited for this lifestyle would've killed Renjun when he went to bed last night, and he gave Chenle an ample opportunity to do so, but he didn't do it. That's why Renjun felt comfortable going to bed before Chenle, because he knew that he wouldn't do it. Sweet and naive Chenle wouldn't do something like that, and not just because of fear, but because he's choosing to see the good in Renjun despite what he's done.

"What are you doing?" Renjun moans. Chenle throws his leg over Renjun's thigh, straddling him. He then begins to grind his cock that's already painfully hard again on Renjun's thigh.

"Oh shit." Slick drips from Chenle's hole again, and the pheromones being elicited feel two times as thick as they were before, the air in the room becoming humid. Renjun grabs his phone and dials Donghyuck's number, and luckily it only takes a few rings to him to pick up.

"I need a favor," Renjun tries to beat Chenle's moans to the phone speaker, but when he hears Donghyuck chuckling across the line, he knows that he was defeated.

"Are you calling me while you're having sex?" Donghyuck asks. Renjun can hear his smirk through the phone. "I know that you like other omegas but if this is supposed to entice me then it isn't working."

"Shut the fuck up." Renjun chokes backs a groan from the arousal stirring in his own system.

"Well even if that's not the case I still need an explanation," Donghyuck answers.

"I killed Jaemin."

"Really? Nobody's even noticed yet."

It's only the morning after, so Renjun's not surprised. Jaemin probably didn't plan to go anywhere last night. "I took his omega with me."

"You spared him?" The way that Donghyuck asks that question makes Renjun sound way more ruthless than he'd like to think that he is. "He must be cute, and that's why you're fucking him right now, right? You need condoms or something? Male omega on omega pregnancy rates are low but never zero, and with your luck you'd be in that small margin."

Reasonable concern, but not quite what Renjun was calling about. "He went into heat."

"Oh, so you need the whole nine yards?" Donghyuck sighs. "It'll take me a while to collect all the stuff and get there, but I can do it. What do you need?"

"Literally everything," Renjun answers. "Changes of sheets, knotting toys, more laundry detergent, condoms are also probably a smart choice, more water."

"Right," Donghyuck answers. "Okay. I'll be there in a few hours. Omega love is so beautiful. And slippery when wet!" Renjun cringes at the statement.

"Who are you talking to?" Chenle's hold around Renjun's neck tightens, almost possessively. He wants attention, and Renjun's not giving it to him undividedly.

"My friend," Renjun answers, squeezing Chenle's waist. "Now hush."

"Hey! Be nice to him!" Donghyuck shouts through the phone. "He's in heat, and being mean to omegas in heat is probably one of the shittiest things that you ever could do. You should know that."

"Yeah, yeah." Not like it'd make any difference at this point. Renjun hasn't been very nice to Chenle at all.

"I'm serious." Donghyuck's voice is stern, like he's about to lecture Renjun to no end. "Attend to that omega like you'd want someone to attend to you. Don't take something out on him that's not his fault. Just because you take too many suppressants—"

"I get it." Renjun cuts him off. "I get it. Just hurry, okay."

"I will." The line cuts off. Renjun rests his phone to the side, now having to give his undivided attention to the omega humping his leg. His own cock is thankfully becoming erect again, because omegas don't tend to have the quickest front refractory periods, especially ones who aren't in heat.

"Lay down," Renjun orders. Chenle doesn't waste time rolling off of his lap and onto his back. Renjun takes Donghyuck's words to heart, deciding that he'll be nice to Chenle for the rest of his heat—however long that is. After that though, everything is fair game, and Renjun will treat or dispose of him how he sees fit.

"You wanna go like this?" He makes his voice soft, sweet, as he positions himself between Chenle's thighs. Chenle nods, his eyes lidded and face flushed pink, bottom lip swollen and lodged beneath his teeth. Renjun brings his hand to Chenle's face, gently urging him to stop biting his lip. "Don't do that. You might bite down and make yourself bleed."

Chenle listens, releasing his lip and instead keeping his mouth slightly ajar. Renjun thinks that he's really cute like this, but he doesn't say it as he grabs the undersides of Chenle's thighs, spreading his legs apart so that he has access to his hole, pink and glossy with slick, pulsing with desire. The other omega looks at him expectantly, dark and lidded eyes sparkling. Chenle doesn't need a warning when Renjun thrusts in. His cries out, back arching as he reaches out for Renjun's neck, pulling him closer.

"Renjun—" He tries to pull Renjun in for another kiss, fingers grasping at his hair, desperately trying to press their lips together. Renjun avoids his lips like the plague, pressing his face into Chenle's neck instead as he snaps his hips forward and backwards. Renjun's head aches as Chenle tugs on his hair, screeching into Renjun's ear in pleasure. Renjun's consumed by guilt, knowing that Chenle's relief won't last for long as the knot unravels in his stomach.

"I'm sorry," Renjun apologizes as he climaxes, emptying out inside of Chenle. Chenle's sated for now, but it's only a matter of time, maybe a matter of seconds until he's Renjun begging for more that he's not able to give him.

"I'm hot," Chenle whines.

"Are you thirsty? Do you need water?" Renjun pulls out, eyes falling to his cum dribbling out of Chenle's rim. He debates wiping it away, but he knows that Chenle wouldn't like that, so he leaves it alone

Renjun tries to move away, but Chenle hurries and wraps his legs around Renjun's waist, trapping him in place. Renjun sighs, knowing that Chenle wants him to continue.

"I'm so hot," Chenle moans, writhing around in discomfort. His fingers grab the edge of his shirt, struggling to wrestle it off his body. Renjun's heart hurts for him just a bit, empathizing with how he's feeling. Unsatisfied, hot, empty. Perhaps he's taking Donghyuck's words to heart. He helps Chenle slide the shirt over his head, before leaning in, brushing his neck against Chenle's. He lets his scent wash over Chenle, hoping that the light and sweet daisies calm Chenle down even just a little bit.

"Renjun—" Chenle moans again, grabbing Renjun's hips and pulling them forward. He's so far gone at this point, brain fogged up from his heat. Can't even think rationally even though he should know that as an omega Renjun won't get hard again for a while.

"Shhh," Renjun hushes him, releasing more of his scent. "Does anything hurt?" He asks, his hand trailing down to Chenle's stomach, knowing that's where a lot of omegas tend to cramp when they don't feel relieved during their heat.

"Mhm," Chenle groans, his breaths becoming more labored as he attempts to grind his ass against Renjun's flaccid cock.

"I'm sorry," Renjun apologizes once more, rubbing Chenle's stomach.

Renjun does a lot to try and keep Chenle from going crazy in the time that they're left waiting for Donghyuck. He fingers him until his fingers cramp, which isn't enough to make any meaningful difference to Chenle's state. He fucks him again, letting Chenle ride him and control the pace, which helps because cum always helps. He encourages Chenle to drink water and eat, but the discomfort is too much. Enough to the point where he becomes teary and frustrated with himself, digging his nails into his arms and thighs to the point where Renjun has to wrestle Chenle so that he stops hurting himself.

It's safe to say that when obnoxious knocking sounds on the door, and he hears Donghyuck's stupidly annoying voice say, "Heat delivery service, open up!" Renjun is more than relieved

He tugs on his own underwear, before manhandling Chenle into putting on his shirt and underwear. The omega is against it now, but Renjun knows for a fact that if he were in his right state of mind, he wouldn't want to be naked in front of a total stranger, so he takes the few scratches that Chenle leaves on him from his resistance without issue. Chenle also trails behind Renjun as he walks over to the door. He wants to scold him to sit down, because the omega is stumbling over every step, but he might need to fall on his ass once or twice to learn his lesson, so Renjun shuts up.

"What's this cutie's name?" Donghyuck asks as he hauls the bags in, smile beaming at Chenle. Surprisingly, Chenle doesn't act weird and possessive like he did earlier while Renjun was on the phone, instead being drawn to Donghyuck. Renjun isn't surprised—Donghyuck has a tendency to do that to people.

"That's Chenle," Renjun answers as he takes some of the bags and rests them on the floor.

Chenle shoves his face into Donghyuck's neck, likely fascinated by the new scent in the room. Donghyuck laughs, rubbing Chenle's back as the omega latches onto him.

"I bought everything that you asked for, and I have another case of water in the car," he says, giggling as Chenle's nose tickles his neck. "He seems sweet. Have you been treating him nicely?"

"Yes," Renjun answers. He's been nice for the last couple of hours so he thinks that the answer is valid. If Donghyuck doesn't believe him, he doesn't say a thing, just nodding as he tries to escape from Chenle's grip.

"I'll get the the case of water," Donghyuck says, turning to leave. Renjun grabs Chenle's hand, guiding him back over to the bed.

"You'll be okay soon," Renjun reassures, patting Chenle's stomach. "I'll make you feel better."

Chenle doesn't answer, because it's not like he's said much of anything else besides Renjun's name and being hot since his second wave hit. Donghyuck returns with the case of water, and lets Renjun know that if he needs anything else, he's just a call away. Renjun thanks him, and as soon as he shuts the door behind Donghyuck, he starts rummaging through the bags. He grabs one of the knotting dildos and a pack of condoms. Omegas in heat need knots, and Chenle is in desperate need of one right now, so Renjun doesn't have time to sanitize the toy. He can do that later, but for now he'll rely on the condom.

Renjun turns on the water for the shower, keeping it cold for Chenle, since just because he's been satisfied sexually, doesn't mean that he's still not burning from the inside. Heat is honestly such a terrible thing, and Renjun can't understand how the average omega goes through it every month. It makes them too vulnerable—just look at the predicament that Chenle is in. Going into heat when he's practically being held captive. Going into heat while he's in danger. Renjun doesn't like that at all, yet most other omegas that he's spoken to don't understand why he'd give up his ability to have kids, or risk health issues later down the line on behalf of his suppressant usage.

This is why.

He lays out some clothes for Chenle, recognizing that they're going to fit him quite small, but they don't have much of a choice unless Chenle's just meant to walk around in his birthday suit until Renjun leaves. He should've told Donghyuck to bring some of his own clothes over since he and Chenle are more similar in stature, but it's too late to ask Donghyuck to make another hours long drive back over here—at least not in one day.

Chenle, now in his right state of mind again, is more bashful around Renjun, remembering what the man he's cohabiting with did to his boyfriend the previous day. Renjun acts like it doesn't sting a bit, but Chenle's going to have to be okay with it until Renjun's ready to make his next move, because it's either stay with him or die right now.

While Chenle's washing up, Renjun gets some stuff done. He strips the bed, and thankfully the mattress isn't too soaked with slick. He puts the mattress cover that Donghyuck brought over it so that it's not ruined by the time that Chenle's heat is over, and then makes the bed with a fresh set of sheets. He tidies up, making sure to grab the gun that had been abandoned earlier in the day, resting it on the coffee table that doubles as a nightstand. He takes out a fresh set of clothing for himself, and heats up a meal so that Chenle has something to eat once he gets out of the shower.

When Chenle exits the bathroom, Renjun's definitely able to confirm that his clothes don't fit Chenle that well, but still manage to look flattering at the same time. The shirt's a little stretched in the shoulder and chest area and comes up a little short, revealing a minuscule amount of Chenle's stomach. The shorts fit shorter than they do on Renjun, more of Chenle's pale thighs visible under the black fabric. Chenle catches him staring, and Renjun turns away, running into the bathroom. By the time that Renjun is finished with his own shower, he returns to the living room to see Chenle sitting on the couch, the food still untouched on the counter.

"Why didn't you eat?" Renjun asks, pulling Chenle's attention away from the TV.

"I was waiting for you," he answers.

Renjun doesn't probe any further into it, just grabbing the food and two utensils, heading over and sitting next to Chenle. The meal is quiet again, the noise of the drama on the TV filling in the silence of the pair, only until Renjun suddenly wonders something.

"How old are you?" Renjun asks, having always assumed that he and Chenle are the same age. Maybe Chenle's a bit older.

"I'm twenty-three," Chenle answers, much to Renjun's surprise. "How about you?"

"I'm twenty-five."

"The same age as Jaemin."

They go quiet again, silently eating their food until Chenle says, "Jaemin didn't seem like your type."

Renjun raises an eyebrow, looking over at Chenle and trying to read his expression. There's nothing remarkable about his face—just plain and rested, like there was no subtext to his comment.

"He wasn't." Not Renjun's type at all. He doesn't like his men too strong, or too bossy, or too domineering. He doesn't like them too smug either, or sneaky. It seems like a lot to ask when Renjun can admit that he might be a few of those things, but if an alpha can have that sort of preference, then so can he.

Chenle ends the conversation right there, taking a last few bites of the food before laying down and closing his eyes. Renjun finishes up as well and washes up the few dishes. He turns the lights and TV out, and then returns to bed next to Chenle, where the younger omega is already knocked out cold.

Renjun wakes up early. It's still dim outside, the sun not having made its way fully into the sky. He rolls out of bed. Since he has the time to wash his face and brush his teeth before Chenle wakes up and demands all of his attention, he seizes the opportunity. He checks his phone, and a few messages have come in. One from Donghyuck asking about Chenle, and the next saying that as of twelve last night nobody has said anything about Jaemin. Renjun suspects that today will be the day that some of his lackeys finally cave and break in to his home, where they'll be met by his dead body. There's two other messages from Jeno and Jisung asking how he is, and Renjun responds that he's fine.

When he exits the bathroom, Chenle's still sleeping soundly, but Renjun senses the pheromones secreting from his body. It disturbs Renjun—makes him wonder why he's feeling like this. His canines tingle as he sits on the edge of the bed, grabbing the gun from the table and holding it in his hand. Guns are usually heavy, but for some reason the metal in Renjun's hand feels like it weighs a ton. He considers his options, just like has been since the moment Chenle opened the door after he killed Jaemin. Chenle can't go back to Jaemin's gang, and Renjun doesn't want to keep him around. He doesn't. And he doubts that Chenle wants to continue to be around him after what he's done. Killing Chenle and getting this over with would be merciful. There's no better or more desirable option than death in this case. Which means that even though the thought causes bile to raise in Renjun's throat, he still takes the gun off of safety and begins to raise his hand. Doing it in his sleep would probably be best, because at least Chenle won't die scared.

"Renjun," Chenle groans, shifting in the bed.

Renjun drops his hand and turns back to look at him. "What?"

Chenle wipes his eyes and throws the thin sheet off of his body. "Good morning."

He's not that dazed, and Renjun doesn't know whether that's a blessing or a curse.

"Morning." The gun still hangs heavy in his hand. "There's a blue toothbrush in the bathroom for you."

"Okay." Chenle stands up and stretches, before heading to the bathroom. It buys Renjun a few minutes to restructure his plan, because Chenle is going to die today one way or another. He could get Chenle when he comes out of the bathroom, but the blood splatter would probably be too messy. He could take Chenle out to a field and shoot him there, but that defeats the purpose of not letting him die scared. Maybe he can kill him in bed, and all Renjun will need to do is dispose of the mattress and body, which he can burn out back. Chenle will be too caught up in the heat of the moment and his own pleasure to notice anything before his dies.

That's what Renjun settles on. He hides the gun under a pillow before Chenle returns from the bathroom, going to the kitchen and grabbing something quick for Chenle to eat before they begin. Renjun grabs what he needs from the bags; just a box of normal condoms. He doesn't need the large knotting ones that he used on the toy for himself. He takes just one out, figuring that it's all that they'll need since he's made his mind up.

"How do you feel?" He asks once Chenle re-emerges. The younger omega shoots Renjun a small smile before he sits next to him bed. To Renjun's surprise, Chenle rests his head on his shoulder.

"Hot."

Renjun should've expected that.

"It's okay." He decides to be nurturing, even if it's just for these last few minutes. Renjun brings his hand to Chenle's cheek, cupping it in his hand. It's warm to the touch, and becomes a little hotter when Chenle purposely releases his scent, condensed milk washing all over Renjun. "I'll take care of you."

The thing about omegas is that they get to express their arousal in so many different ways. The first sign is usually the slick, which Renjun feels begin to secrete despite the fact that it's totally useless in this scenario. It gets worse once Chenle backs up onto the bed, rolling over and presenting himself to Renjun. He breathes, and then he positions himself behind Chenle's raised ass, grabbing his hips and making sure that they're steady. His cock begins to feel strangled in his underwear, and Renjun decides to stop prolonging the affair. He pulls Chenle's shorts and underwear down, and then does the same with his own. Slick drips down from Chenle rim, and Renjun takes a little of it onto his fingers, Chenle moaning as they brush the ring of muscle. Renjun uses it to stroke his cock until it's fully erect, and then opens up the condom, sliding it on. Every move feels robotic to him—stiff. Calculated up until the moment that he will reach under the pillow to grab the the gun.

"Shit," Renjun groans once he finally pushes in, feeling the tingle in his canines become more intense. Omegas usually don't get the urge to bite other omegas. Renjun is different.

"Why are you wearing this?" Chenle reaches his arm back, attempting to pull the condom off of Renjun's cock. The older omega slaps his hand away, sighing.

"Little risk doesn't mean no risk." And maybe the fact that Renjun is taking this into account speaks to the doubt that he's feeling.

"I can get rid of it, it doesn't matter." Chenle drags the condom off, throwing it to the side and grabbing onto Renjun's thighs.

Renjun does what Chenle wishes, fucking him raw and rough, eliciting short and gruff moans from the younger omegas mouth. Still, Renjun can't become immersed in the moment, attention focused on the unsuspecting pillow just beside Chenle's head. It's like he has X-ray vision, the image of the gun burning through the pillow, forcing him to be reminded of it. He listens to every one of Chenle's pleads, going faster, hitting the same sweet spot that has Chenle squealing like a girl with each thrust.

And once Renjun feels like Chenle's reaches the pinnacle of his pleasure, or at least as good as Renjun can give him, he reaches under the pillow, fetching the gun. His hand trembles as he aims the weapon at Chenle's head, struggling to keep the momentum that he was fucking into Chenle with. Shaky fingers shouldn't pull triggers, but Renjun doesn't have much of a choice anymore, does he?

Renjun's hesitation bites him in the ass, Chenle turning back and coming face to face with the gun. It's like time freezes, Chenle going wide eyed at the sight of the gun being pointed to his head. Something flashes through his eyes—betrayal. He thought that he was safe. Renjun spared him, not just when he chose to drag him here, but the day before when he allowed Chenle to grab the gun and redirect it. Chenle's naivety had gotten the best of him once again, trusting someone who's proven to be untrustworthy and unpredictable. Renjun smiled in Chenle's face and befriended him, knowing that he was sleeping with his boyfriend behind his back. He smiled in Chenle's face and sat at the bar with him all of those nights, sipping his various concoctions and conversing with him, knowing that when everything was said and done, he planned to kill Chenle's boyfriend and hit the road.

And the worst part about it is that Chenle doesn't try to fight back. Maybe on a normal day he could easily overtake Renjun, but his heat has rendered him a bit weaker. Still, he could try. Most people wouldn't just give up knowing that they'd die either way. They'd choose to go out with a fight just for the chance of survival.

Instead, Chenle just blinks, tears beginning to fall from his eyes.

He gives up. Just waits for Renjun to pull the trigger.

Renjun's hand is still shaking uncontrollably, and no matter how much he tries to control his breathing, soothing himself so that he can steady his hand, he can't manage.

So he pulls the trigger back anyways, tears clouding his vision as he releases it and sends the bullet launching out. He wipes his eyes, not knowing what to expect when his vision clears, but a sense of relief fills his system when he sees Chenle alive and well in front of him, tears streaming down his face profusely. When he looks to to the side, he sees a bullet hole in the wall. He hit the wall instead, missing Chenle's face by mere centimeters.

Renjun gives up. He can't kill Chenle. He doesn't know what he's going to do with him once this is all over, but he can't kill him.

"I'm sorry." Renjun moves away from Chenle, dropping the gun to the side. He needs to collect his emotions, the guilt eating away at him. Renjun knows now, since he came so close to killing Chenle, that he shouldn't do it. But what if he hadn't missed? What if Chenle was lying on the bed, face torn open by the bullet, blood and brains splattered all over the sheets? What would Renjun have done once he realized that it was too late to turn back, and Chenle was gone for good?

He turns back to see Chenle curled up into a ball, body wracking with sobs.

What the hell does he do now?

"I'm not gonna kill you." Renjun sighs, slowly walking back over to the bed. "I promise."

Chenle peeks up at him, a wary gaze in his eyes as Renjun crawls back into the bed.

"We can finish if you want." Chenle's still in heat, so it wouldn't be great for Renjun to just abandon him for real. "Only if you want."

Chenle uncurls his body, laying flat on his back. He rests his arm over his face, covering the majority of it as he nods. "Okay," he says, his voice shaky.

Renjun obliges, spreading Chenle's legs and lining himself up with his entrance once again.

Renjun would be a liar if he said that it isn't weird, with Chenle still hiccuping and tearing up between moans, and himself getting choked up when his mind wanders back to what went down a few minutes before. Renjun doesn't know when he's gone soft, because he doesn't think that he's ever cried over someone he planned to kill before. When he finally comes, he grabs the knotting dildo, shoving it inside Chenle, plugging up the cum before setting off the knotting function. Chenle whimpers like a kicked puppy, his legs shaking as it inflates inside of him. Renjun is parched, and he knows that if he is, then Chenle is as well, so he goes to the fridge and grabs two bottles of water. When he sits back on the bed Chenle is lying there looking at the ceiling blankly. Renjun doesn't speak, just resting the bottle beside Chenle so that he can drink when he's ready. He opens his water and takes a few sips, staring off into the kitchen boredly. Renjun believes that some TV would cause the tense air to fade, so he turns to grab the remote.

When he does, he ends up face to face with the gun, Chenle point it right at the center of his forehead. He's stunned, freezing as Chenle presses the metal to his skin. Is Chenle going to kill him? For a moment, Renjun wonders if his judgement about Chenle was completely off. He isn't too soft to do this. To blow Renjun's brains out like he should've a long time ago.

"It's not so fun when you're on the other end, huh?" Chenle's voice cracks, and that's enough to let Renjun know that he's not going to go through with it. He grabs Chenle's wrist, pinning it down to the bed. Renjun's completely lost on what to do next, staring at Chenle's quivering bottom lip.

"Calm down." Renjun knows that it's quite fucking ironic that he's telling Chenle that, but he does it anyway.

"I'm calm," Chenle insists, making no moves to resist Renjun's grasp on him. "I'm not gonna kill you— It's just— Why did you do all of this?"

Renjun knows that Chenle's not in the right head space to have this discussion—at least to fully comprehend everything that Renjun would have to tell him.

"I'll tell you when your heat is finished," Renjun answers, pressing the button on the dildo that deflates the knot.

Day three of Chenle's heat, which seems to be the finale, starts a little differently than the first two. Renjun is awoken by choked moans sounding beside him. He laid awake in bed for hours before his body allowed him to rest, which means that this unwilling early start has Renjun waking up dazed. His eyes open to see Chenle with one of the knotting toys shoved into his hole, his other hand covering his mouth in a weak attempt to muffle the sounds. He's not doing a great job, as he's woken Renjun up.

"Do you need help?" Renjun asks groggily. He can assist Chenle a bit, giving him a little cum to help satiate the heat before he knots himself with the dildo.

"Mhm," Chenle hums, placing the dildo to the side and opening his legs for Renjun. The older omega is already hard, Chenle's pheromones having stirred him up in his sleep.

Renjun's too tired to keep his head up, resting it in the crook of Chenle's neck as he thrusts into him. His canines tingle how they have for the past two days, aching to sink in the skin of Chenle's neck. The urge only grows as Chenle releases more and more of that sweet condensed milk smell, the perfect scent for someone like Chenle. An omega to his core—soft, kind, pretty, trusting, nurturing. Renjun likes those types of omegas, who fit the mold completely except for their desire of other omegas. And even though just a few days ago Chenle told Renjun that he likes alphas above all else, he's been so good for him. Even though Renjun almost killed him three times, Chenle has maintained his sweet naive omega persona, which confirms to Renjun that it's not a persona at all—it's who Chenle is.

Everything becomes a bit clearer, even in Renjun's sleep-clouded mind when he realizes that his problem with Chenle's naivety was more of a personal issue than it ever was one with Chenle himself. Renjun didn't want to admit to himself that he had caught feelings for Chenle, so he picked apart the younger omega and tried to find a fatal flaw, which was found in form of his goodness. His willingness to attempt to find the good in everyone, even if he knew that they were being deceptive—like how he's treated Renjun.

Renjun is so sorry. So sorry that he's treated Chenle the way that he has.

Chenle begs Renjun to go faster, and the older omega does exactly what he asks. With each thrust, each scratch that Chenle leaves on his back, each time that he moans Renjun's name, Renjun finds himself processing his feelings more and more. Like zaps of adoration for Chenle fill his brain, replacing the resentment that was there before.

And when he climaxes his brain short circuits from the flow of feelings that it needs to process, sending Renjun's instincts into a frenzy. Which means that he does something that he shouldn't do.

He sinks his canines into Chenle's necks, a piercing scream escaping the younger omega's throat. As soon as his teeth retract, Renjun realizes that he shouldn't have done it. Chenle's hand shoots to his neck, covering the fresh wound, and all Renjun can do is sigh.

The following hours are spent trying to relive Chenle while also researching the effects of omega on omega mating bites. To the surprise of no one, there's not much research on them, but the general consensus is that it seems to impact the bitten omega in a similar way that a bite from an alpha would. It creates a bond that remains one-sided until the other omega is bitten back. In short, Chenle's bonded to Renjun, but Renjun isn't bonded back to him. They don't talk much about it, Chenle still dazed from his heat, and Renjun already in his head about how he managed to make a bad situation worse. But Renjun knows that once the heat subsides the next day, they have a lot to talk about.

Four days after Jaemin's death is when hell is finally raised on his behalf. Renjun doesn't share the news with Chenle who's sitting next to him, a purple bruise blooming on his neck where he bit him the previous day. Renjun doesn't know where to start, but Chenle luckily decides that for him, speaking up and asking the million dollar question.

"Why did you kill Jaemin?" Chenle's demeanor is somber, and Renjun can only imagine conflicted. Spent three days sleeping with the man who killed his boyfriend right after he did it. He's now mated to man who killed his boyfriend.

"I had to," Renjun answers vaguely, knowing that Chenle won't understand the intricacies of their syndicate beef. "He was a traitor."

It takes Chenle a moment to react, but he nods slowly. "You're part of a gang. That's why we're here. You're hiding."

Renjun nods.

"And that guy that came over a few days ago," Chenle says, "is also part of your gang?"

"Yes," Renjun confirms. He stays quiet, cradling his mug of tea in his hand as he waits to see if Chenle will as another question. He doesn't, so Renjun does. "Did you know that I was sleeping with Jaemin?"

Chenle nods, blinking back tears. "I felt like you were." Renjun doesn't move to comfort him. What comfort could the source of the pain offer Chenle?

"Why didn't you say anything?" Renjun turns away as he sees Chenle bringing his hand to his face, sniffling as he wipes away tears.

"I don't know." Chenle finally breaks down, holding his face in his hands as sobs wrack his shoulders. "I thought I had it wrong—I thought you were a good person."

And that was the problem. Chenle saw the good in Renjun and got burned. He saw the good in Jaemin and got burned as well. Renjun doesn't know Chenle as well as he knows someone like Donghyuck, but he can say that from the time that they've spent together, sitting at that bar and talking about anything and everything, Chenle seems good by nature. But his problem is that he hasn't been surrounded by other good natured people. Or even people who felt the need to protect that good nature. Renjun's instincts tell him that's what got Chenle to the strip club in the first place, and it's definitely what got him from the strip club to Jaemin.

Renjun stands up moves to the kitchen, giving Chenle some space to cry in their small living area. He washes his used mug, and then finds other minuscule chores to do to kill time. He washes organized the bottles in the bathroom, sweeps the kitchen floor, wipes down all of the counters, and when he can't think of any more to do, he lays down in the bed, as far as he can from Chenle who's still sitting by the edge, just staring at the wall.

Guilt bubbles up in Renjun's stomach when Chenle crawls over, cuddling up to his back. If Renjun hadn't already fucked up Chenle's life by killing his boyfriend, he made it ten times worse by accidentally mating him. Biologically connected to the man who killed your boyfriend and is holding you hostage. He could choose to be happy about it, laying in bed with Chenle's leg thrown over his hip and arm wrapped around his waist, but the shame remains all the same. Chenle can't properly grasp the amount of conflicting emotions going through his brain, and though it's not to the same degree, Renjun is feeling the same way.

Chenle falls asleep like that despite them only being awake for an hour or so. Renjun takes the opportunity to slide off of the bed, grabbing his phone and calling Donghyuck.

"What's up?" Donghyuck asks from the other end. Renjun considers admitting what he did to Chenle, just to get it off his chest, but it's not a wise idea for many reasons.

"Not much," he answers, bold-faced lying. Mating Chenle is definitely much.

"Not much here either but Jeno getting shot in the leg."

Renjun shrugs. People get shot everyday in non-fatal places. To them it's like getting a paper cut that temporarily incapacitates you.

"As long as he didn't get any other injuries."

"Yeah, he's good," Donghyuck reassures. "I'm staying at a nice hotel. They're not gonna shoot me next by association! But I think that things will blow over quickly. They probably think that Jeno or one of those guys did it, and they'll figure out soon that they might as well stop actively trying to kill them and instead just wait until the opportunity arises naturally."

"So when do you think I can leave?" Renjun's eyes wander back to Chenle, who's still knocked out on the bed.

"Whenever you're ready, I guess. I'm just staying in this hotel until tomorrow."

If Donghyuck is going home tomorrow, and Renjun's already been here for about four days, then he might as well do the same. Which means that Renjun has to find somewhere for Chenle to go.

"I guess that I'll come home tomorrow, too," Renjun responds.

"Bringing your omega?"

Renjun scoffs at the question, pretending that Chenle being referred to as his "omega" isn't doing anything for him.

"He wouldn't want to come with me." Renjun knows that what he's saying is probably a lie, looking at Chenle again, and more specifically the mark on his neck. That bond will cause Chenle to make decisions that he probably shouldn't make. Ones that he wouldn't make in his right mind.

"Why wouldn't he?" Donghyuck asks. "I don't think that you've treated him worse than any alpha like us would've."

Renjun knows that in general that it's true, even with him almost killing Chenle three times, that's still marginally better than most of the power-tripping alphas that he's met. Terrible reality, but it's unfortunately the truth. He doesn't know how well Jaemin treated Chenle, and for all he knows, Chenle could be used to it.

"Maybe he has some common sense." Renjun chuckles. "Have some faith in him."

The sound of Donghyuck sucking air in through his teeth comes over the phone—undeniable doubt.

"I'm about to check into the hotel. I'll talk to you later," Donghyuck says.

"Later." Renjun hangs up. Chenle stirs in his sleep, and when he goes still, Renjun thinks that he's safe, but then his eyes open. As much as Renjun would love to avoid to have the conversation, he knows that it has to be had if he plans to leave tomorrow.

"Tell me about the strip club." Renjun tries to keep the conversation impersonal, walking into the kitchen and going in the fridge. He ate not too long ago, but he needs to keep himself busy somehow. He grabs some vegetables and meat, figuring that he can prep something easy for dinner.

"It wasn't anything great." Chenle's voice breaks. "I danced for people. Mainly alphas—gang affiliated ones. They weren't very nice. Some paid okay, some pulled guns on me—" Just like Renjun did "—but I made good enough money. Some omegas and betas too. They tended to be nicer, but they didn't come as often."

Renjun nods, chopping his green onions too slowly to be considered even slightly efficient. "Would you go back?"

Renjun swears that he can hear the shiver in his voice. "No."

He stays quiet, finishing chopping up his green onions. He moves on to a carrot, beginning to peel it once he speaks again.

"What do you plan to do after this?"

"What do you mean?"

Renjun starts to peel a little slower, his hands becoming shaky.

"After we leave. We're leaving tomorrow. I'm going home. Where are you going?"

It takes Chenle a moment to answer.

"I thought that I was coming with you."

Renjun puts down the carrot and knife completely, his hands shaking too much to continue.

"I don't think that you should."

Renjun musters up the courage to turn around, barely able to look Chenle in the eyes once he does. The younger omega's palm presses to his mating mark, his face contorting up into an strained expression. Rejection. Renjun's rejecting Chenle, and it's hurting him, physically.

"Renjun." Chenle removes his hand from his neck, revealing the red and irritated skin under it. Renjun thinks back to what Chenle said during his heat, asking if Renjun would continue to let him suffer. The question is really if Renjun's guilt would allow him to do so. His ideal person, Chenle, is right in the palm of his hand for all of the wrong reasons.

"You should go back to the strip club." Renjun knows that he's made Chenle suffer enough, but in this situation, either way he'll suffer.

"I can't." For the first time today, Chenle sounds assertive about something. "I can't go back—you can't do that to me."

"It's the better option." Renjun turns back around, grabbing the carrot and knife and beginning to chop it up.

"I seriously don't know whether you like me or hate me." Chenle groans again, the bite likely hurting him again. "You befriended me, slept with my boyfriend, killed my boyfriend, tried to kill me, and then mated me. You're giving me mixed signals."

Renjun knows that. He knows that it's confusing for Chenle, because it's confusing for him.
