Work Text:

On the limited occasions that Wednesday has considered what it would be like to be a werewolf, she envisioned something very different.

Being a beast filled with sharp teeth, claws and blood lust during a whole night once a lunar cycle was once a fantasy of her during her childhood, of course that was before she learned about serial killers.

At this very moment she isn't entirely sure if the changes she is feeling are because of her new acquired lupine body or because said body belongs to one Enid Sinclair.

The wolf did explained that the warmth and clamminess was all because of the lycan inside of her, but that didn't explained the other things she was experiencing.

For example; the strength, she logically knew that Enid was stronger than the average person however, Wednesday thinks the sheer power that she feels cursing through her blood is excessive, and a little bit addictive, she really wonders how Enid can appear so nonchalantly feeling like this all the time.

Wednesday is slightly impressed by her restraint too, it's a wonder she hasn't actually killed Agnes yet.

The same could said about Bruno.

It was her instincts that reacted when the tall werewolf dared to cover her eyes but the raise of her hackles was all Enid's body.

Interesting, Enid didn't feel completely safe with her current paramour.

The morbid curiosity that run through her quickly turned into ire, the only reason she didn't stomped the boy's chest was because Enid would be upset.

"Try again and I'll treat you to some real pain and suffering." That was her first and last warning.

Her now fast biting heart was doing summersaults on her chest, the constant tapping against her ribcage was maddening, worse of all the… feelings that accompanied it were nonessential, she felt rage for the idiotic werewolf boy who for some reason made Enid feel some grade of uncomfortable, frustration for not being able to give retribution although she doesn't know exactly what Bruno did to receive such reaction, confusion at the thought that even thought Enid felt discomfort while being with her boyfriend she still preferred to spent her time with him and not Wednesday.

Wednesday felt something different rumbling on her chest, she was growling.

She needs to fix this mess immediately.

This emotional werewolf/Enid body was going to drive her to madness, and not the good kind, the response it had to Weems suggesting that she would be the cause of Enid's ultimate demise was extreme, shaking limbs, growing claws, tachypnea and tachycardia, and worse of all an insufferable amount of guilt.

Wednesday doesn't do feelings.

And she most definitely doesn't do guilt.

The fact that she is enduring all of this to save Enid's life doesn't have anything to do with sentimentalism.

She's just doing it because her roommate saved her against the hyde last semester, not because she's become such an intricate part of her life that she can't even bear the thought of her ceasing to exist.

And ultimately she's not doing it because even thought Enid has offered her nothing but her friendship since the first day they met, she doesn't deserve to be taint with Wednesday's darkness, with her polluted touch that kills everything it reaches.

Damn you hormonal and emotional teenage werewolf body.

Not knowing what to do with so many emotions cursing thought her body, Wednesday went to the only place that she could let them out without having to name and explore them.

Music.

She's pleased to know that her musical expertise translated to Enid's body, she, once again feels the sting of guilt as the girl's delicate fingertips burn and blister only to heal in seconds, repeating the process with every note.

Her press on the strings only tightens as her distress grows, repeating the cycle over and over again, hurting Enid, not stopping even thought she can, her friend heals all on her own, she hurts her again.

She ends the song with a lone long stroke feeling, and just feeling—

"Enid?" Wonderful, now she has to deal with another wolf. "Why didn't you tell me you played?" It was unnerving how Enid's body reacted again, she was afraid.

"I only do it when I need to think." And she was done doing that.

"Sounds like you're channeling your inner Wednesday." The girl stilled, could she tell?

"You have no idea." She tried to soften her voice, more to an Enid tone.

"We need to talk about your situation." She couldn't possible know.

"My situation?"

"Denial isn't going to change it. And there are added risks for a potential Alpha in their first lunar cycle." An Alpha?

"Alpha. Right." that would explain some things.

"Better get to the Lupin cages before sundown. Just play it safe. I know you're worried about being a lone wolf, but we need to know what we're dealing with first." Wednesday's heart did another unusual turn at those words… lone wolf.

She tried to distract herself with the cause of her troubles. "This is Rosaline Rotwood." The raven seemed to look down on her mockingly from the painting.

"Professor Orloff said she used to teach in this room back in the day—"

"And lived in my mother's cottage." The universe did like to taunt her.

"What?" She wasn't thinking clearly, she needed to scape.

"I mean, Mrs. Addams. In fact, I promised I would drop by for tea this afternoon. I'm already running late."

"Make it quick. I want you locked in the Lupin cages by sundown." She felt something growl from within her at the prospect of being "locked".

Maybe werewolves and Addams are beast in the same way.

To reclaim your own flesh you must be willing to die in this borrowed skin.

What was the message hiding behind the words?

Was she willing to die for Enid? Of course, but that would mean that Enid would perish too and that was what Wednesday was trying to avoid.

On the other hand, after what she pulled on the quad, dancing in colorful clothes, smiling, hugging people, and making an absolute fool of herself, Wednesday started feeling an actual enjoyable feeling: revenge. If Enid wanted to act like a child, she could too.

She saw Bruno speaking on the phone and she immediately made her way to the boy, she would hurt him this time.

"Need to hang up now, my love." She should've brought her nail gun.

"Enid. Hey. I was just talking to my mom in the Philippines." How stupid did he think Enid was?

"You and your mother are awfully close." She begin to repeat the last part of his conversation in Tagalog. "Or was that your girlfriend you failed to mention in an act of time-honored, misogynistic deception?" How dare he try to deceive Enid this way?

"How do you know Tagalog?" That was his response? Pathetic.

"I picked it up when I was eight from Datu, my Filipino fencing instructor." She started feeling agitated again. "He also taught me how to castrate with a bolo knife."

"I was going to tell you, but it's complicated." How is being committed and faithful to the person you are courting complicated?

"Then let me uncomplicate it. We're done." Wednesday's heart started beating uncomfortably rapid again, the claws in her fingers itching to come out. "Never talk to me again, you duplicitous Lothario." She added in Tagalog for good measure. "Was that clear enough for you?" She was seconds away from slashing his morose face when Capri interrupted them.

"Enid! Lupin cages, now!" She might just saved the boys life.

Wednesday has never being inside the lupin cages, she didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprise by the place, it was big enough to fit the wolf, it didn't have a bed so the person inside would have to sleep in the cold hard ground, it reminded her of the cages inside the catacombs under the manor.

She just wasn't sure if the metal from the cages would be strong enough to actually held her inside, she was about to test this theory when Enid arrived, freeing her from the cage.

"Your little creeper told me about your vision of my death." Which is exactly what she wants to avoid. "Thanks for the trust. I also know that if we don't switch back by dawn, we're both going to die." She won't let that happen. "And I am not checking out looking like this." Maybe the emotional turmoil that has been inside Wednesday this whole day is Enid's body, if the other girl is capable of so much distress from Wednesday's own body.

They're interrupted by Enid's phone, an incoming phone call from Agnes showing on the screen; she was currently in a car with both Tyler and Isaac, finally someone stayed on track with the task, they were going to back to Willow Hill, interesting…

"We need to switch back." Wednesday gritted her teeth, the sharp canines hurting her mouth, she felt some kind of responsibility for the invisible girl, she blames Enid's body for it.

"After we save Agnes and take down the Galpins."

Getting into Willow Hill was boringly easier than the last time, Wednesday along with Enid run down toward the lab, watching Tyler lock Agnes up in one of the cells where Stonehurst used to torture outcasts.

She rapidly made her way inside the cell and started unchaining the red head.

"Look who showed up." Of course Tyler would find her immediately.

He didn't get more words out as he was ambush by Enid, who jumped on his back, the hyde threw her across the room and Wednesday saw red.

"Leave her alone!" Her voice came out half human half beast, full with rage.

"No full moon to save you—" She interrupted his taunting with a powerful kick to the stomach, Wednesday felt great satisfaction at the crunch under her boots.

The next second her own body was breaking itself up, she felt to her knees , the fury in her body was too much, she couldn't breath, couldn't move, couldn't think anything else than I need to protect her. Her limbs started growing longer, fur bursting out of skin, it was torturous.

"You need to calm down or you're gonna wolf out." Enid tried desperately to tranquil her.

"Too late. Get out!" Her body contorted on itself trying to accommodate a beast that was larger than a simple human girl, a beast that was enraged, a beast that would do anything to protect its pack, Wednesday started to loose her sight and after an agonizing scream everything turned to dark.

When she opened her eyes again, she was lying on the floor on a strange place, it was completely white or it glowed so much that it appeared like the absence of color, she sat up, trying to get a recollection of where she was or what was she doing, the place looked like it expanded infinitely, but it felt like it was closing on itself, it was very bizarre.

'This is unusual, you are not my human.' A deep voice that seemed to come from everywhere at once spoke directly at her.

Wednesday turned around and saw a giant wolf with golden fur, the blue, pink and purple accents on it betraying her as Enid's wolf.

"No, I'm not." Her voice sounded like her own surprising the girl who looked down at herself, she was back on her own body.

"How are you here? This is a very personal place." The wolf didn't appeared nor looked angry, it was just confused.

"Magic mishap, I will fix it soon." She answered with the truth.

The wolf approached her, walking around her, occasionally sniffing the air around her.

"I know who you are." She stopped once she was in front of Wednesday. "You are the reason I finally bonded with my human." She paused for a moment, sniffing again. "You smell like pack."

Wednesday's eyes opened with surprise at hearing that, and then everything came back to her, the body switching, Agnes getting herself in trouble, and most importantly; Enid getting hurt.

Because of her again.

"I need your help to save Enid, your human." She told the beast, who's form stood up in attention. "If I don't do something right now, she will die." And she couldn't let that happen.

"You must know, there's only one reason you would be able to do this." Wednesday starting to feel rattled with the cryptic talk, she and most importantly, Enid, didn't have time for this.

"I'll help you, I'll lend you my strength, but you must be ready for the consequences, you might learn more about yourself that you are ready for." She was tired of listening to other people telling her what she should feel or do.

"I just want to save Enid." Was all she said, the beast draw her massive head towards Wednesday's, touching her forehead with the girl's.

When Wednesday awoke again she locked inside a cell, the beast inside of her growling in discomfort, she could see everything lividly in the dark room, she could hear perfectly the sounds on the lab outside she could smell Enid in distress, and that was enough to get her to action.

The metal door was nothing against the sheer force of the beast, it yield on the second assault that Wednesday did with her front legs, it felt to the floor with a deafening sound, Wednesday watched from the shadows the boy, the monster, who had dare to hurt Enid, she started growling in warning, she would not stop until killing whoever tried to hurt her pack.

She launched at the threat, grabbing him by the neck, she would made sure he new not to mess with her pack, she was about to rip his troat apart with her teeth, he should've never mess with her ma—

"Wednesday? Wednesday!" A desperately voice made Wednesday look at her right. "Wednesday, we have to go now!" There she was, the girl that Wednesday wanted to protect so hard, asking her to leave, to go with her.

She threw the boy away and run after the smell of pack, following them all the way from the entrance of the hospital to the woods surrounding it, it was at that point that all the adrenaline that was going trough her body faded, her bones breaking down again, this time forming into a smaller and human body, her growls turned into groans and she felt something soft and warm on her body.

It was the sweater Enid was using, she was giving it to her to use, she took it without any thought about the colors or fabric and put in on, they continued walking for some miles and then her legs gave up.

"Are you okay?" Enid looked at her with a warmth and understanding in her eyes that only once that has gone trough what Wednesday did would feel. "Thank you for saving my life." She felt a flock of crows on her stomach and her chest, that she knew had nothing to do with Enid's body this time.

"I just asked myself; 'What would Enid do?'" Her heart did another summersault at the sight of Enid's smile, it was horrifyingly moving.

"So you guys did swap bodies." Agnes interrupted their moment. "I knew something was up. You've been acting really weird all day. And you just called her Wednesday back there, so... we're still friends." Wednesday was appealed that was Agnes's biggest worry. "Well, don't worry. It's okay. It's really hard for me too." How was it hard to her? "But we'll get used to this whole new look together."Wednesday felt the strange pull of something…familiar with that, it felt like pack.

"Not if I can help it." She would dissect that thought later, or maybe never. "Agnes, go back to Nevermore." The younger girl leave obediently, leaving Wednesday and Enid alone.

They started walking in the direction of Rotwood's grave in a relatively comfortable silence, Wednesday couldn't stop thinking about what everybody has told her about her ability during the day, Weems words about how the Addams family lineage has always drawn strength from the unity of its members and how that strength demands emotional clarity, which didn't make sense as Enid wasn't an Addams, and—

Oh.

All the feelings that she experienced during the day came back, her protectiveness of Enid, the disgust and anger she felt towards Bruno, while deserving, it was also tainted with something uglier, something possessive… jealously, her willingly to die in order for Enid to live another day.

She can't even blame this on the werewolf's body.

"Now what?" They somehow made it to the grave, Enid was watching her with such an open trust that it felt wrong seeing it on her own eyes, her heart once again, beating out of her chest.

"Rotwood said we had to unravel the innermost secrets of the lives we stepped into." She couldn't do it, on the way to unravel Enid's secrets she unveiled her own biggest one.

"Fine." Enid scoffed. "I'll go first. You know what I love about being Wednesday? Your fearlessness." Wednesday could see in her eyes how sincere she was being. "Except when it comes to your mom. But... I get it." Enid sighed. "She can be a lot. You're afraid she'll never accept you for who you truly are. That your darkness is even too much for her to grasp. But that's the thing Wednesday, you said that I should consider you my dark cloud, and while you think that's something negative, it doesn't have to be." Enid seemed to be having some difficulty searching for the right words to say. "You are what a dark cloud is to a scorching day, relief, comfort, solace." Her eyes were shining with such conviction that it took Wednesday's breath away. "You fear your darkness will consume you, well, consider me your sunshine, I would never let you go that far." She ended, the tip of her ears a little red.

"The best thing about being Enid is your quiet strength." She started, looking intensely at her own brown eyes. "You think being an Alpha will mean you'll be alone." She took a deep breath. "I won't let that happen." She wanted to say 'I would go to the end of the world and back just to bring you back' But she couldn't. "You need to stop trying so hard for people who don't deserve it. Like Bruno, who mistook your kindness for weakness, and took advantage of it trying to be with tow people at the same time." Wednesday's heart broke at the crestfallen expression of Enid, she couldn't what she wanted, not now. "It's not. It's your power. Which I could barely handle for one night."

Wednesday never thought that being a werewolf would mean being so intricately in tune with your feelings. "I regret ever underestimating you." She can see Enid's true strength now as Enid smiled again.

And as everything fade to black, and she felt herself being pulled back to her own body, she couldn't help the way one of her arms reached out to Enid.

'I would do anything to protect that smile." Being her last thought before they hit the ground.
