Previously on How to Get Away with Murder
A courthouse in New York (afternoon)
Wes testifies against Charles Mahoney. With help from his lawyer Vince, Laurel, Annalise, Nate, and even Frank, they successfully frame Charles for the murder of Wallace Mahoney, meaning Wes is not a suspect anymore. After the hearing has finished, Sylvia Mahoney is not pleased and tells interviewers that she’ll do whatever she can to find the person responsible for Wallace’s death and framing her son, while intently looking at Wes.
Laurel’s apartment (evening)
Wes heads home with Laurel. He has been a bit wary of Laurel’s feelings for Frank, but after everything Laurel has done for him, he finally realizes Laurel has his back, so he tells her, “I’ve got you.” Laurel tells her she’s got herself, but he assures her he’s going to be there too (while being oblivious to Laurel cheating on him with Frank).
Oliver’s apartment (evening)
Connor and Oliver fight again. When Oliver calls Connor “damaged,” Connor leaves to crash on Michaela’s couch, again.
Michaela’s apartment (night)
Michaela is comforting Connor, so she sends Asher into her bedroom. Asher hears Michaela's phone ringing on the nightstand. It's Michaela's mother. Asher picks up and gives her his contact details, behind Michaela's back.
Keating house (night)
Frank shows up at Annalise’s house with a gun and tells her he wants to make everything right by shooting himself. Annalise eggs him on, but Bonnie manages to stop him. Annalise seems shocked to find out Bonnie and Frank slept together. Annalise heads upstairs, while Frank stays with Bonnie for the time being.

A few days have passed, and everything has calmed down.
Middleton University (day)
It’s a Sunday, but the clinic is open due to exams, so the K5 made plans to meet up in the clinic for a study group. On his way to campus, Wes drops by the flea market to buy something nice for Laurel. Michaela spots him and asks him who he’s shopping for, since he broke up with Meggy. After hesitating, he admits that it’s for Laurel. Michaela is thrilled to hear that Laurel and Wes are a thing, so she offers to help, and they bond a bit. With some advice from Michaela, Wes picks out a necklace.
When Wes and Michaela finally arrive at the clinic, Connor, Laurel, and Asher are already there (Oliver isn’t, since it’s a Sunday, to Connor's relief). They study for a few hours. When they are wrapping up their study session, Michaela asks Laurel if she can come over for a girls' night. Asher has plans to drink with Oliver and invites Connor and Wes, but they both decline.
Connor and Wes stay at the clinic for a bit longer to study. Connor asks Wes if he regrets breaking up with Meggy. Wes tells him he doesn't, and that it was the right choice because he didn’t want to drag Meggy into his mess and couldn’t lie to her anymore. Connor doesn’t say anything about his fight with Oliver, but it makes him think: should he tell Oliver the truth, or let him go?
Keating house (day)
Bonnie tries to convince Annalise to talk to Frank and maybe even forgive him, but Annalise wants nothing to do with Frank and feels betrayed by Bonnie, too. She’s acting cold toward Bonnie, but she's also scared Bonnie might choose Frank over her. Bonnie eventually gets frustrated by Annalise’s hateful demeanor toward Frank and leaves. (Meanwhile, Frank is at Bonnie’s, beating himself up over everything that happened.)
Laurel’s apartment (evening)
Michaela confesses to Laurel that she is scared she might be pregnant, since the condom ripped when she was sleeping with Asher a few weeks ago, and she has been feeling off all day. She’s scared of taking a pregnancy test, so Laurel supports her by taking one together. Turns out, Michaela isn’t pregnant, but Laurel is. Michaela asks her if it’s Wes’s. Laurel is surprised that Michaela knows about her and Wes, so Michaela admits that she ran into Wes a the flea market earlier that day and pulled it out of him. Laurel confesses to Michaela that it's Frank's. Michaela realizes that Laurel cheated on Wes, so Laurel begs her not to tell Wes or anyone else.
AA meeting (evening)
Annalise is in desperate need of an AA meeting after talking to Bonnie. She tells everyone at the meeting about someone who hurt her deeply, but now wants her forgiveness. She tells them that she doesn’t want to give this person any more time or attention, and that she hates him. She wants him to die or disappear, and just leave her alone.
Bonnie’s house (evening)
Frank has been waiting for Bonnie and immediately asks her for Annalise’s reaction. Bonnie just tells him that Annalise needs time and space. They have a heart-to-heart about their feelings. Bonnie asks him if he slept with Laurel, and Frank tells her he didn’t. He tells her that he thought Bonnie didn’t want to see him anymore after he left her alone in the motel, and he was just scared of what he was going to do if he was alone. So he went to Laurel. He tells Bonnie that he never wanted to hurt her. Bonnie forgives him, tells him that she wouldn’t know what she would do without him, and asks him to never leave her again.

It’s Monday, the day before the exam. There are no classes, so students have time to study.
Michaela’s apartment (day)
Connor is in no mood to see Oliver in the clinic, so he's studying at Michaela’s together with Asher and Michaela. Asher is texting with Michaela’s mother behind Michaela’s back.
Wes’s apartment (day)
Laurel shows up at Wes’s apartment with lunch from Busters for their own little study group. Wes gives her the necklace and admits he picked it out with Michaela. Laurel doesn’t really know how to react to Wes’s sweet gesture, out of guilt over Frank and her pregnancy. Wes notices that something is wrong and asks Laurel if everything is okay, so she lies that there’s nothing wrong. Wes gets a bit suspicious when he notices her conflicted reaction, but doesn’t really say anything else and becomes quieter. Laurel notices after a while and asks him if he wants to talk about Frank, but he lies that they’re good. There’s a very awkward tension hanging in the air. [Wes doesn't meet Sandrine, btw].
Laurel’s apartment (afternoon)
Immediately after Laurel leaves Wes’s apartment, she calls Frank and tells him they need to talk. When she comes home, Frank is already waiting for her. She tells him she’s pregnant, but that she wants to terminate the pregnancy because she can’t do that to Wes. Frank, however, is thrilled to hear about the pregnancy and insists on being there for her. He tries to convince her to keep the baby and promises her he'll do anything to be a great father. Laurel, clearly conflicted, tells him she needs time to think and asks Frank to leave.
Frank’s car (evening)
Wes heads out for dinner plans with Annalise, but when he leaves his apartment building, he sees Frank leaning against his car. Wes ignores Frank and is about to jump on his bike, but Frank tells him they need to talk. Wes hesitates, but gets in the car and tells Frank that both Laurel and Annalise love him more than they'll ever love Frank, and that he knows Frank killed Annalise’s son. He tells Frank that he knows Frank would never hurt him, because he’s desperate for Annalise’s forgiveness, and Wes knows that both Annalise and Laurel would never forgive Frank if he’d hurt Wes. Frank, angry, tells Wes that Laurel is pregnant and that Frank is the father. Wes says he’s bluffing and gets out. He slams the door of Frank's car, but not before angrily yelling at Frank to leave. [Based on the car scene between Wes & Frank in 3x11].
Keating house (evening)
Annalise cooked dinner for herself and Wes. She notices that Wes is quiet and distracted, so she asks him what’s on his mind. He tells her about his meeting with Frank, and how Frank claimed he slept with Laurel and got her pregnant. Wes, unsure, asks Annalise, “He was lying, right? He’s just trying to break Laurel and me up?” Wes tells Annalise he never wanted someone dead as much as Frank. Annalise has never really been a fan of Laurel, let alone any of Wes’s love interests (or even the thought of Wes having a romantic relationship with anyone). But she sees that Wes is struggling, so she tells him she noticed how much Laurel cares about him and urges him to talk to Laurel. Wes cheers up a little bit, but Annalise can see that it’s still weighing on him.
Bonnie’s house (night)
Annalise shows up at Bonnie’s. She calmly tells Frank to leave because he only causes problems for other people. Frank says he doesn’t want to leave; he just wants to make things right with everyone. Annalise becomes emotional and yells at him that he doesn’t get to be a father after what he did to her son and Wes’s father. She again yells at him to leave, for good, because everyone’s life will be better if he’s not in it. She tells him she’ll never forgive him for what he did, and then storms out.
Bonnie is shocked to hear about Laurel's pregnancy and asks Frank if it’s true. He admits that it is. Bonnie is heartbroken, says she knew that she would always be second place to Laurel, and tells him to leave. The moment Frank is gone, Bonnie breaks down.
