Backstage
“Can you hold my hand, please?”
The request was so faint Sana almost didn’t hear it. But she quickly extended her arm the short distance to clasp hands with Dahyun.
The younger woman’s small hand trembled. Sana turned, taking in the stunning profile of the gorgeous woman next to her. The picture of professionalism, ready to take the stage. Her shaking limb the only hint of nerves.
The roar of the anticipating crowd and the thunder of the musician’s intro thumped in both their heads and hearts, vibrating the floor of the lift underfoot.
Leaning in just close enough to get Dahyun’s attention, Sana smiled brightly when Dahyun turned to look at her. The younger woman exhaled, finding peace in Sana’s presence.
“Thank you,” Dahyun said.
“You know, the moon looks beautiful tonight, Dahyunnie.”
Dahyun blushed immediately under her stage makeup as the lift began its ascent. Before they were visible to the waiting crowd, Dahyun kissed Sana’s cheek.
“Ditto,” Dahyun said, as she quickly returned to position, letting go of the warm hand over hers.
Sana’s cute giggle in response was the first sound to hit ONCE’s ears before Chaeyoung belted her lines.
It was a new moon. 🌑
