Chapter 1: Your hue, Your warmth, Your gaze

Chapter Text

Ever since he was a child Ivan has always felt something missing, like a part of his soul had been ripped away from him.

Even though Ivan had a pretty nice childhood. His parents were rich, he lived in a big house, and got everything he want by just asking for it but, all of that never really mattered at the end of the day everything was the same. The same boring day, the same boring life. his existence felt almost meaning less, he barely even felt real emotion he just went through the motion letting life fly by him.

But that all changed when Ivan saw him… On the first day of middle school Ivan saw a silver haired boy standing up to some older kids who were 3 times his size. It was as if the world stood still for a moment as Ivan took in the sight.

Everything change in one single swoop Ivan's monochromatic world had transformed to one full of vibrant colors.

Ivan had become fast friends with Till (well more like Ivan bugged Till until he caved but that still counts right?). Soon they would start to do everything together. They hung out after school and even slept over at each others homes.

Ivan was truly happy for the first time in his life. it had felt like his broken soul had finally started to heal but, he knew this wouldn't last forever after all no one could love some as hollow as him.

That was proven when Till and him entered high school just for Till to develop the biggest crush on a pink haired beauty that was oh so different from Ivan. She was bright and sunny bringing a smile where ever she went but, Ivan couldn't hate her after all it wasn't her fault he was so pitifully empty plus he was actually pretty good friends with her.

Ivan's couldn't lie though sometimes(most times) he would get jealous of the way Till looked that her wishing that Till's eyes were actually on him but he knew he had no right to think like this after all Till wasn't his and would never be his.

But even thought Ivan knew this he still clung on to any bit of affection Till would give him. He would hug Till from behind (which would usually result in him getting hit but he didn't mind any attention is good attention right? ) , he would sit close to Till any chance he got and when they were sometimes alone at Till's house Ivan would lay his head on Till's lap like when they were kids (he always loved when Till would play with his hair) But, lately he hasn't really had time to go over to Till's house since his parents had made him join loads of after school programs But, maybe it was for the best that he started to keep his distance because he knew the day that Till got with Mizi it would crush him from the inside out.

⟪⟫⟪⟫⟪⟫

The following year Till did actually ask Mizi but she rejected him and revealed she was only into woman and actually started dating one not long ago.

Ivan honestly felt a sigh of relief from the bottom of his soul since that meant he could keep Till by his side for at least a bit longer (well until Till got tired of him at least) but, for now Ivan will stick by his side like he always had.

⟪⟫⟪⟫⟪⟫

The sun had started to set and it immited a golden glow throughout the whole school. Ivan had finished his club meeting and started walking around the school thinking it was empty for the most part. That's when he saw Till by the entrance. He debated in his mind whether or not to sneak up on him but he decided to do so because he hadn't done so in a long time. He missed seeing Till's shocked face when he hugged his shoulders. Sometimes even stealing Till's snacks while he was at it. He walked up to Till slowly as to not make any noise to give himself away. When he got close enough he hugged his shoulders and pulled him close. He immediately noticed that Till was texting someone.

“Who are you texting there?"

Till immediately whipped his head around and gave him a shocked face. Ivan smiled warmly, as he had finally gotten the shocked face he's been wanting to see for ages.

“I thought you left already??"

“Why would you stay here if you thought I left? Were you waiting for someone else?"

Till stayed silent and put away his phone. Finally, he sighed and leaned into Ivan.

“Fine.. I was waiting for you.."

Ivan smiles before he realized something and his smile faltered.

“Why did you put your phone away as soon as you saw me?"

Till rolled his eyes and elbowed Ivan. However, what Ivan failed to notice was the faint blush on Till's face.

“That's none of your business. Besides, they don't even answer.."

“Why bother with them if you know I'd answer you right away?"

Till stood there frozen not expecting that answer. The blush on his face growing darker. You'd think that Ivan would catch a hint by then. However, he thought it was due to embarrassment.

Ivan took advantage of Till's silence to bring something up.

“Well, now that I have you here, would you like to come over? Like we used to hang out before the clubs got too crowded?"

“Don't you think your parents would be against that?"

“They're out of town.”

Ivan responded quickly. He almost cut Till off.

There was a moment of silence before Till sighs.

“Did you have this planned out the moment they told you they'd leave..?"

Ivan smiled warmly and let out a soft hum.

“Maybeee.."

“Fine…"

Ivan's smile grew wider as he hugged Till tighter. Till let out a small squeal.

Till turned around and reached over and pat Ivan's head. Ivan, in a fit of shock, let go and leaned in to the head pats subconsciously. After a few seconds he closed his eyes and hummed contently. It was at this moment that Ivan thought;

It's a shame this will end.

⟪⟫⟪⟫⟪⟫

When they had reached Ivan's home the sun had almost set completely, causing the clouds and the sky to fade from warm colors to a dark purple. It didn't take long before the two got engrossed in their own things. Ivan was cooking while Till was playing a song he'd learned earlier in his music class.

“Dinners ready, dear."

Till stopped playing and looked over at him with his eyes wide. To say his jaw dropped was an understatement.

“What.. did you just call me..?"

Ivan smirked and simply said;

“I told you dinner's ready.”

“No, after that."

“I have no idea what you're talking about. Anyway, come eat before the food gets cold."

Till stands still, taking in the smell of the food, his stomach grumbling as he realized he hadn't eaten anything since this morning. He sat down at the table and before he knew it, he had devoured the whole plate and was even halfway through his second plate. Ivan sat there with his fingers interlocked and a big smile plastered on his face. Oh, how he loved seeing Till's joyous face.. Especially if he was happy of something Ivan did for him.

After dinner they collectively decided to make a blanket fort on the couch (more like Till bugged him until Ivan agreed) and watch a movie or two together.

That was an hour ago though. They're now halfway through a second movie and Ivan had grown more and more fatigued.

He leaned into Till's shoulder. He closed his eyes and wandered into his thoughts before giving in to the drowsiness.

I wish this warmth could last forever."
