Work Text:

Sakura sat on the floor of his apartment, staring daggers at the back of Suo. Despite not being able to see his face, Suo could feel the anger residing in the boy.

Suo may have shown up unannounced at Sakura's apartment, barging his way in with a smile too polite considering his actions. Yet Sakura’s brash reaction still brought joy to the red head. The extreme cursing and anger that came from Sakura was always humorous to Suo, making the boy particularly fun to tease and just encouraging his actions in the long run.

While Sakura seemed to scrutinize his every move, Suo had prepared some chamomile tea. Steam rose from the small tea cups he used, the smell filling the room as he brought the cups towards the small table Sakura had set up.

Suo sat beside Sakura, handing a cup to Sakura while sipping from his own. Sakura took the tea cup from Suo’s hands, staring at the liquid before taking a sip from itself. Yet right after he placed the cup down, Sakura turned to stare at Suo once again.

“Why did you even come here?” Sakura interrogated, pointing a finger at Suo as he did so. Suo only gave an innocent smile back, tilting his head like he was confused by the statement.

“Is it so wrong for me to just want to see you?” Suo asked in response, finding joy in how Sakura’s flushed in response.

“You and I both know that you always have a secondary plan” Sakura fought back,

“I’m hurt that you view me that way Sakura” Suo teased lightly, making Sakura groan in response, his head hitting the table in front of them with a thud slightly spilling the tea. Sakura didn’t seem to care about the spill, ignoring it as a part of the tea touched his cheek.

Suo stood, moving the cup away from Sakura and went searching for the napkins in Sakura's cupboards. As he moved around he felt Sakura's eyes following him, his head snapping away when Suo turned back towards him.

Suo walked back over towards the table, using the napkins he found to clean up the little amount of tea spilled. He then reached his hand out to give Sakura a napkin, yet Sakura did not grasp Suo’s intent. Instead he tilted his head to free up his cheek that was wet. Suo, despite hesitating, reached out and pressed the napkin to his cheek, closing his eyes at the contact. As he did so, Suo examined the monochromed boy, noting blush covering his face and creeping up to the tip of his ears. Suo felt something in his heart flutter.

When Suo pulled away Sakura opened his eyes once again, yet did not meet Suo’s eye. Suo didn’t mind, he wasn’t sure if he could stand their eyes meeting after such an unexpected amount of intimacy. So Suo busied himself by throwing away the napkins, going especially slow to give himself more time to breath. Yet Suo did have to turn around at some point and face Sakura, and so he did.

Sitting next to Sakura once again, who was now holding a manga Nirei forced onto him, Suo drank from his cup of tea. He took meditative breaths as the silence between the two stretched on. It's not like silence is necessarily a bad thing, Suo usually finding comfort in the lack of noise, it was just something he wasn’t used to with Sakura.

That's not to say it was unwelcome, its just that Suo was riled up from the interaction that was only seconds ago. Any other time Suo would try that action he would be yelled at with a red face, both from anger and embarrassment. Suo wasn’t sure what changed.

He supposed it could be the privacy that made Sakura feel more comfortable with the action, but either way Suo felt caught off guard, which was a feeling he was not particularly used to.

Yet Sakura seemed to find a way to stun Suo even more as the red head felt a slight weight fall onto his shoulder.

As stealthy as Suo could be, he peeked a glance at Sakura. Sakura was still reading his manga, but his eyes were now half-lidded like he was struggling to stay awake. Suo was unsure if Sakura was even aware that he was using Suo as a pillow with how tired Sakura seemed to be.

Suo continued his meditative breathing, trying to calm his heart with how hard it was pumping in his chest. He also breathed deeply to do his best to not disturb the tired boy. If Sakura needed the rest Suo was more than willing to lend a shoulder if needed.

Time moved by quicker than Suo thought it would, or Sakura fell asleep faster than he thought. Either way Sakura was knocked out cold, softly snoring into his shoulder with his manga abandoned on the floor.

Suo did his best to reorientate himself so he could properly lay Sakura down. Suo went searching for Sakura's Futon, blankets and pillows. He found them rather quickly thanks to the fact that there wasn’t much storage in Sakura's apartment. He laid out the futon and pillow, placing the blanket to the side of them. Frowning at how this everything seemed, Suo picked Sakura up and gently placed him onto the futon. Grabbing the blanket he placed to the side, Suo gently threw the blanket over Sakura's sleeping body.

As Suo finished taking care of Sakura, he grabbed the now abandoned tea cups and washed them quickly in the sink. Drying them with a towel Suo placed the cups back where they belonged and started working on the foldable table. He folded the table and placed it against the wall while picking up the manga as softly placing it with the small pile of other manga lended to Sakura by Nirei. Once the quick clean up was over in an attempt to make Sakura have less to worry about in the morning, Suo felt satisfied enough to leave.

Suo walked over to Sakura, whispering a soft goodnight with a secret kiss upon his forehead before turning around and leaving out of the front door.
