Summer breeze

Summary:

"They had a new routine going. Daisuke getting worried for his health, recommended going on jogs to keep his heart rate up or some crap like that. It was a pain in the ass at first, but he slowly got more accustomed with each jog they went on. At the very least it made Daisuke happy."

or

Daisuke wants Swansea to take better care of himself and suggests they go jogging.

Notes:

Just a fluffy little one-shot I thought of at work. I like the idea of Daisuke inspiring and encouraging Swansea to take better care of himself.

Work Text:

The sun was blaring and the sweat stuck to their foreheads as they came to a stop. Swansea was gasping as he struggled to keep up with the 200 pound Saint Bernard.

“Christ- for an old fella you sure do have a shit ton of energy.” he said in between gasps.

“Need a break Swans?” Daisuke retreated from the front of the group, laying a gentle hand on his arm.

“Yeah.” he huffed, his ragged breathing slowly settling with each inhale.

They had a new routine going. Daisuke getting worried for his health, recommended going on jogs to keep his heart rate up or some crap like that. It was a pain in the ass at first, but he slowly got more accustomed with each jog they went on. At the very least it made Daisuke happy. Sobriety and exercising? Who would have thought? Even so, Daisuke’s motivational words made his cheeks warm and chest fluttery. Still didn’t stop the burning in his calves though.

“Why don’t we go sit at the cafe over there?” Daisuke flashed him a small smile and helped him over to the outdoor tables. Swansea immediately let himself fall onto the chair and partially unzipped the front of his tracksuit. Daisuke’s face couldn’t help but go slightly red at the sight of Swansea’s glistening furred chest.

“Take a picture, it'll last you longer Sunshine.” he snickered knowingly. Daisuke just rolled his eyes and huffed out a smile.

“You wish old man~” he stuck his tongue out playfully. He removed the backpack from his shoulders before taking a seat. On such a hot day he was glad he remembered to carry an extra water bottle on him. He placed one bottle on the table which Swansea immediately swiped up and downed like a man who’s been deprived of water all his life. The other bottle he twisted open and poured a generous amount into a travel bowl and placed it near Rufus who lapped up happily. Swansea, who finished off his bottle, wiped his mouth on his sleeve satisfied.

“Well, It’s not exactly mouthwash but it’ll do.” He cackled dryly, placing the empty bottle back on the table. Daisuke couldn't help the bittersweet expression that overtook his face.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

The flashing of red, the smell of artificial mint, and the agony of excruciating pain coursing through every nerve of his body. He vaguely remembers the sounds of paramedics hoisting him onto the rescue ship. The scared shitless expression that tainted Swansea’s handsome features. It all seems like a distant memory now. Something he never wishes to uncover again. He’s so grateful that everything worked out in the end. That he can finally spend his life with the man he loves without the fear of death or capitalistic overlords docking credits for “unprofessional relations between staff.” They can just live their lives peacefully.

“I love you Swans.” he smiled softly, tears beading at the corners of his eyes.

“I love you too Dai.” he got up and ruffled his hair before placing a tender kiss on his hairline. He usually wasn’t one for PDA but he could tell Daisuke needed this. Rufus, getting jealous for being left out, placed his big heavy paws on Daisuke’s thighs and licked big slobbery kisses onto Daisuke’s tear streaked cheeks.

“Rufus! You’re heavy!” he giggled, loving every moment of being showered in affection by his two favorite boys.

“Ready to get this jog on and over with Kid?” he guided Rufus to his side.

“Heck yeah!-” he grinned, picking up the backpack and hoisting it up onto his shoulder. He joined Swansea, interlinking their fingers. “Lead the way Boss.” he beamed, slightly leaning into the older man.
