Work Text:
Kira paced in front Yumeko's door with flowers in hand. It was the end of the semester and just a week prior her dad had died. Well she and Yumeko killed her dad; it looked like he had gotten assassinated. One quick shot to the heart and no one was the wiser when they found his body. It was last person that they had to kill together. Their partnership is no longer needed as they had been freed of their chains.
It had been a long year and half but they are now on the way to graduate with their plan completed. Soon Kira would be taking over the company with the help of her sister. Who she apologized to six months after she choked her. Broke down and cried in front Yumeko of the fact that she harmed someone who taken care of her. Who had protected her for years. Who still continued to protect even after she jumped her. Yumeko had held her as she sobbed in her arms. Had helped her actually apologize to her sister; who simple smiled, hugged her and whispered in her ear that she understood and knew she didn’t actually want to hurt her. She cried in front of her sister once again. She told her sister the plans her and Yumeko concocted. How she sweared it would be different that no one else would get hurt. Riri nodded softly at the plan and offered assistance in the plan.
Kira refused her assistance to not drag her in. Plausible deniability in the worst case.
Yumeko had opened up to her more. She explained how she witnessed her parents’ death. The rigorous training she had to put up for years. How she was trained to revenge her parents’ death and that it had been drilled into her head to that it was her goal in life. The nights they spent together not just planning but, the nights where they held each other as companions. As something more than friends but not quite at the same time.
Which brought Kira to here in front of Yumeko's door; filled with anxiety. She had realized her feelings for Yumeko after she helped her cover up Ray’s death. Those sacred moments together made her fall for Yumeko even more. Sharing secrets and tears together made her crave Yumeko but she had to wait for the mission to be complete. She knew Yumeko needed this. The way she would inch out but immediately back pedal and go back to planning.
So Kira waited until it was over, she got the flowers for her and a deck of cards in her other. A hand of poker for a date. The flowers are their signature colors, blue and red.
“I have to stop being a fucking coward.” Kira huffs out and reaches her hand up to knock on the door. The door creaked as it moved slightly, Kira's head turned to the side in confusion before pushing the door open. What she saw made her drop her items as she rushed to Yumeko.
Yumeko laid there blood seeping out of her wrist. Her face already pale with her eyes shut slightly limp.
“YUMEKO” Kira rushed over to her. She peeled off her jacket and pressed it into one of her wrist as she frantically looked around for something for the other wrist. Yumeko's eyes slightly cracked open and a soft smile spread on her lips.
“Kira-san, I do get to say goodbye to you” she said slightly above a whisper. Kira looked at her with a panicked expression.
“WHAT DID YOU DO? We were free! Why?!” Kira cried out to her tears streaming down her face as she reached for her phone to call 911. Yumeko hummed softly as she reached up to hold Kira's face.
“You are free my dear. I completed my life goal so I have no need for life.” She wiped stray tears away from Kira's face. She noticed the flowers and cards on the ground near the door. Yumeko face fell as she realized.
“Oh no, what were you going to do?” Yumeko cried softly realizing what was going to happen.
“I was going to confess! We were supposed to be free together! You and me.” Kira continued to hold the cloth to her skin. An ambulance on the way but no real way to know if it would make it on time.
“I thought you didn't love me back….” Yumeko trailed off as her eyes slowly start to shut once more. Kira shook her body as she trembled filled with fear and guilt. Maybe if she had gotten there soon; maybe she could of stopped her. Maybe if she didn't sit and pace she could of saved her in enough time.
“You can't leave me! Please. I love you. We are partners please..” Kira sobbed out to her love.
“I am sorry. It is too late for me. Please live for me. You have to live the freedom we fought for.” Yumeko murmed softly her voice getting weaker. The siren of an ambulance entering the courtyard; Kira looked up to the window a hope flashed through her face.
“Thank fuck. Yumeko just stay awake for a little longer. They are almost here.” Kira cradled Yumeko's face with her bloodsoaked hands.
“You know…I have loved you since I saw you in that lunchroom. I didn't realize it. No I didn't know until you helped me with covering Ray's death. How,” Yumeko let out a small cough before she continued.
“Please Yume, save your strength.” Kira pleaded Yumeko as tears continue to spill. Yumeko responded with soft smile and a small shake of the head. Quick steps were heard outside the room; Kira turned her head praying it was the paramedics only for a small laugh.
“Yumeko are you hearing these sirens? What a way to end the year-WHAT THE FUCK” Mary had entered the room seeing the bloody sight of Yumeko and Kira. She stepped on the floors and cards.
“Mary-”
“Kira what the fuck did you do!” Mary screamed at the president.
“Mary thats not what-”
“Who the fuck do you think called the ambulance?! Know go find the fucking paramedics and get them here!” Kira screamed toward the student council member. Mary had tears starting to well up but turned on her heels running.
Yumeko's face seemed paled and tired as she once again closed her eyes. Her face glistened with tears.
Kira shifted her body to be able to better hold Yumeko. Her one true love as she prayed she would survive. She heard Mary's heels clicking and the stretcher speeding down the hallway to get them. Kira prayed they would make it in time as she didn't think-no she knew she could never love another like how she loved Yumeko. She prayed hoping it wasn't too late for them.
