Regulus LOVES ballet. He eats, sleeps, BREATHES it. The ballet is his home, his family. He’s loved it since he was a little boy, well a little girl, of all things that’s a technicality. He trained hard all his life, he worked HARD to make ballet his. Not something his parents could control him with but something he had control over. He worked hard to be the premier danseur for the Ballet de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux. He put his blood sweat and tears into dance because HE wanted to. This was for him, not for them. Sirius used to do it too before he met his friends at hogwarts preparatory academy. He used to envy him for going to study in London but then his eleventh birthday came and he got the same offer and refused. Why go to nasty old London if he was already in the running to be cavalier by the time he turned 15? So he didn’t. He stayed in Bordeaux and ended up going to the École de Danse de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux.
Regulus POV:
There I found MY friends. That’s when I understood why Sirius didn’t want to come back. Our parents are awful. He escaped by going to hogwarts. I escaped by going to the school of my dreams and finally getting away from them since it was also a boarding school. There I met Barty, Evan, Panda, and Dorcas. They became my best friends and we became known as the pantheon. A pantheon is a group of particularly respected people or a group of gods. And in that school we WERE gods. Everyone practically bowed down to us. It was also where I had my first fling, and that was with one Bartemius Crouch Jr. He was amazing but we both knew It would never work. Relationships in ballet don’t work. You are always in competition with each other and that shit ruins relationships. Ballet is cut throat, especially when you’re in the same company as your partner. We knew it wouldn’t work. But when Evan announced he would be moving conservatories from ballet into contemporary, Barty realized he could admit that he was head over heels in love. They got together promptly after that and I’m happy for them they’re cute. That being said it left barty VERY distracted when it came to the cavalier auditions and if I thought I was high on the list for running before I definitely was at the top, and I was right. I got cavalier and Pandora got prima which was honestly amazing for us since I love panda and I knew she wouldn’t let it get to her head like the other girls would. I loved panda (ew not in that way weirdo) and I was beyond happy that she would be my prima. We had a very good run. I myself being cavalier performed in more than 1,000 shows in my nearly 10 year career. Of course panda performed less as being prima doesn’t guarantee you the principal in every single show but being cavalier? Oh you ARE the golden boy. When I announced my retirement earlier this year it was a shock. Whether it was shock that I hadn’t retired earlier or shock that I was leaving Bordeaux completely, it was a headline in multiple papers. Now? Now I moved to London and I’m living with Sirius in his flat. Barty and Evan are planning on moving here too, barty got an offer for the Royal Ballet and he is beyond thrilled. Turns out the skittles are stuck together after all. We’re planning on getting an apartment together at some point but not right now. Another thing that changed for me moving to London is seeing how love truly is possible. Sirius has his boyfriend Remus and honestly they are so adorable. Remus reminds me a lot of me sometimes. Nerd, reads books, loves dance but had to quit due to arthritis but he still involves himself in other art forms. He’s actually a pianist at the cafe he works at. Speaking of work, I’ve been looking for a job and Sirius recommended me to look at some dance studios in downtown. And so that’s what I’m doing right now. I’ve toured some already but none felt right. Until I found the one I’m standing at right now. “Art in Motion. Definitely less formal then Ballet de l’Opera National de Bordeaux. This is cute.” I whisper and open the door and catch the sight of an absolutely drop dead gorgeous guy. Holy shit he’s hot he’s really hot. Oh my god fuck me imagine this is my fucking boss. I walk up to the front desk and see this very pretty ginger girl. Oh Pandora would drool all over her. “Hello! My name is Lily how can I help you today?” She says sweetly. I smile, “Uh hi my name is regulus black I was wondering-“ “You’re regulus black?! Like THE regulus black. Cavalier of the Bordeaux ballet?” She says with her jaw dropped. “Um yeah it’s actually the Ballet de l’Opera National de Bordeaux but yes it’s me. I was wondering if you guys were looking for anymore dance teachers? I mean ballet is my specialty but I can teach anything except hiphop I refuse to stoop that low.” I say with a chuckle. “We are actually. Have you taught before?” She asks before opening some drawers and pulling out a file and handing me a paper. “Uh yeah I was a teaching assistant at my school for a long time I didn’t have time to teach properly because of being principal. I’ve been looking for a job and I would love to be a choreographer I know it’s very basic but still. I moved to London to live with my brother after retiring and he suggested me to look at some dance schools here in downtown and I found you guys.” I say starting to fill out the application. “Wait a second your brother wouldn’t happen to be Sirius black would it?” She says with an eyebrow raised. “Um yeah he is.. is that a problem?” I say skeptical handing her my application.
I’m getting worried what if they don’t like Sirius what if they don’t wanna hire me what if-
“no we went to school with him that’s all!” She promptly files my application away with hardly a look and gives me a smile, “you can start tomorrow studio opens at 8.” She says handing me a key and a badge.
“Oh and regulus? Tell your brother that Lily says hi. Oh and say hi to Remus for me.” She says with a kind smile. “Oh thank you I will!” I say before walking out. Wow. Who knew a fresh start could be so easy?
