It was a perfect day. Not too hot, not too cold. Sun shining merrily, fluffy white clouds dotting the sky, birds chirping cheerily- The birdsong was cut off abruptly by the sound of a car colliding with a large tree.
“Shut up!” A sing-songy, robotic voice echoed through the trees. Rewrite reached up into another nearby tree and smashed a nest full of eggs with his hand. “Your existence is detrimental to the mental health of the general public!”
“Rewrite…” a tired, vaguely monotone voice sighed. Sink pinched the bridge of his nose, looking irritated. “You should really stop that. Destroying the ecosystem is not going to help anything.”
“Birds are despicable creatures.” Rewrite said matter-of-factly. “They bring pain to Niku, therefore they must be exterminated.”
“Niku…” Sink turned to the small greyish-purple hedgehog standing off to the side, watching Rewrite murder the wildlife with a blank expression. “Listen, I get it, but please tell him to stop killing them.”
Niku flinched, then glanced down at their hands, twiddling their thumbs. They let out a noncommittal grunt.
“They agree with my actions!” Rewrite chirped. “I am reacting appropriately.”
“I don’t have the patience to deal with this today…”
