Chapter 1

Notes:

I just want our Dabao to not go through heartbreak, and I thought if Chi Cheng and Dabao were together for longer than they were now, Chi Cheng would have really move on from Wang Shuo, and he wouldn't go seeking for a closure like that.

Chapter Text

Wu Qi Qiong, nickname Da Qiong by his mother, came from a humble family with only him and his mother. They didn't have much, but his mother provided him with the best she could. This made him really grateful to his mother and made him determined to repay her in her old age. With this mindset, Wu Qi Qiong worked himself to bone balancing his study and part time job to earn as much money as he could without affecting his grade. He did quite well in that respect though, with the fact that he scored high enough on his Gaokao to get him into a good university.

As much as he loved his mother, he believed that she shouldn't name him Wu Qi Qiong. He did well enough in everything he put his mind into, but somehow he never met with anyone that actually appreciate his work, rather, he only met with those who would belittle him and make his life even worse than it was. Still, Wu Qi Qiong followed his mother teaching and never confronted them face to face, but that only made thing worse.

What made him think enough is enough was his boss at his part time job in his first year of university. He worked as a delivery man, a waiter, or even a dishwasher depending on how busy it was, but he was only paid as if he were doing one. Adding on to his coursework in engineering major, his life was tiring enough, but his boss wanted to make it even worse. Wu Qi Qiong would get scolded and had his paycheck cut for multiple reasons he wasn't even responsible for. After everything, he usually only had enough to barely got by each month by living off the cheapest option he could find.

During a delivery trip one day, Da Qiong was in an accident with the other party in the wrong. His head was bleeding, but his priority was the food. He didn't even care to argue and rushed off to the destination.

He was late, of course. But when the customer saw the blood on his forehead, they just scolded him a little and let him go. His boss, though, was a different story entirely.

The man didn't even look at his wound and started mocking him for his tardiness that wasn't even what he could control. His boss's attitude told him everything — he was nothing more than cheap labor. That was when Wu Qi Qiong snapped, no matter how many time he replayed his mother's words in his head, he still wouldn't stop himself doing what he would do next.

"I quit."

"What did you say?" The boss looked at Wu Qi Qiong in disbelief. This little man, even though he was quite tall, had always behave so meekly even when he was blamed with something he didn't do. He couldn't believe that this man just raised his voice at him and said he wanted to quit.

"You heard me. I had enough with all this thing he had done to me. I have my own right and dignity, and I won't endure this anymore."

Wu Qi Qiong actually wanted to curse at that man a bit, Though Wu Qi Qiong couldn’t curse even if he wanted to—his mother raised him too well.

After saying those words, he left the building forgetting about the wound on his forehead. Along the way, he got quite a few stares, but no one actually came to him about it. It was only until he reached a clinic that his vision suddenly went black.

Wu Qi Qiong woke up to a white ceiling that belong to a hospital and definitely not his dorm room. It was also much quieter than what you would expect of a boy dormitory. Wu Qi Qiong should have figured out where he was first, but he was so busy contemplating his whole existence and how he was raise to even care about this.

"Oh, you're awake."

A gentle voice brought Wu Qi Qiong out of his daydreaming. He turned and saw a young doctor with a kind face walking to him and check his wound.

"Your head is fine. You're pretty lucky not having a concussion after hitting your head so badly."

"Where am I?" That was when Wu Qi Qiong started to take in his surrounding. He realized he was in what seemed to be a clinic, and oh this was going to be so bad. He knew he wouldn’t be able to afford the treatment, even if he spent all his money for the month.

"You're at the 181 clinic which you fainted right in front of. You don't know how much you scare me to open the door to a bleeding body lying in front of my clinic. Anyway, I took you in and treat that wound on your head."

"Umm, I'm really sorry about that and grateful to you for the treatment. But umm, I don't think I would be able to pay off the bill."

That made the gentle doctor stare at him without saying anything. Guilt was eating the inside of Wu Qi Qiong's body. His mother raised him to be grateful and always repay the kindness he received from others, and now he couldn't even pay off his treatment fee. Oh his mother was going to be so disappointed in him when she heard about.

Wu Qi Qiong almost busted out crying when he heard the kind doctor That was all it took. Wu Qi Qiong paused—and then the tears started falling.

Wu Qi Qiong spent quite a long time telling the doctor who he didn't know the name of basically his whole life and what happened in it. The doctor was so patient on his part he didn't even stop Wu Qi Qiong once during his ranting. Instead, he gave reactions to parts which he found to outrageous.

"I'm not saying that your mother teaching is wrong, it actually makes you into a respectful man, but she didn't account for how bad humans can be when they want to. Not everyone is as good as you thing. You really need to step up for yourself in order to improve your life, not just for you but for your mother too."

These words from this doctor who he just met a few moment ago brought him out of the abyss of self-doubting and gave him a new purpose in life. That's right, his main goal in life was to improve his and his mother's living standards and made sure his mother would be able to enjoy the best retirement life anyone could have. The first step to do that, just like what the doctor said, was to improve himself first, to make Wu Qi Qiong into someone everyone respected and not looking down on.

Jiang Xiao Shuai, he later got to know his name, then started to make plan on how Wu Qi Qiong should improve himself. He even waived off what Wu Qi Qiong owed him for the treatment too. The two of them spent the rest of the day making plan and booklist on how to improve oneself. The first step? That would be to make Wu Qi Qiong much more cheerful than he currently was.

A few months went be in a flashed. In those months, Wu Qi Qiong spent the first month mostly at the clinic in his free time to help out and also to interact with the patients. All of these paid off as Wu Qi Qiong became much more cheerful than his previous gloomy self to the point the patients compared him to the sun itself.

Wu Qi Qiong now shined so bright his classmate almost couldn't recognize him. From the second month onwards, Wu Qi Qiong no longer went to the clinic as often because the second part of their plan was for Wu Qi Qiong to become the sunshine of his campus. Wu Qi Qiong himself didn't know why his now best friend Jiang Xiao Shaui wanted him to do so, as his own image in his mind was that of a cool top student everyone looked up too. Jiang Xiao Shuai burst his thought bubble by rudely pointed out how cute he was with his wide smile and huge eyes and how this was the only path he could develop. How rude.

Nevertheless, it seemed that the plan worked really well with how popular Wu Qi Qiong was now. Oh no, it should be Wu Suo Wei now. After he got his emotion under control, he went to visit his mom and told her all of the stuff that had happened to him, as Xiao Shuai suggested. His mom cried bitterly at how much her precious son suffered because of her ideology. They cried a lot that night, and they decided to change his name to mark a fresh start on his life. The name Wu Suo Wei was what he picked for himself under his mom doubted eyes.

Wu Suo Wei now was regarded the engineering major students of all years as their precious baby with how sunny his smile was and how cute all of his expressions were, not that the person himself knew about this. He was also the study god all the first year students went to for every exam with his exceptional grade. He found a job at a café near the school gate. Wu Suo Wei was a bit daze at how easy he got the job with only just showing up.

The store manager would like to point out how much the traffic in the shop increased after they hired him to prove his point.

Wu Suo Wei also found himself a good friend named Yue Yue who was what people regarded as a vain girl. Yue Yue was only interested in how rich the guy was when going out with someone, and Wu Suo Wei never let himself get close to this type of people. Surprisingly, he and Yue Yue somehow got along really well, and he even introduced her to his best friend Xiao Shuai too. Yue Yue pointed out that she loved how cute Wu Suo Wei was, which he would like to deny, and she want to pamper him with everything he want. Unsurprisingly, this was how Yue Yue and Xiao Shuai bonded with each other.

That day was one of the less busy day they had ever since Wu Suo Wei was hired. He heard to door opened and looked up to greet the customer when it hit him. The visual attack that is. The guys who walked in had the perfect body a guy could dream of with the face of a Greek god. Wu Suo Wei shouldn't be reacting like this he could felt Yue Yue staring at his expression deep in thought, but his face was burning up and his heart beating fast.

'Oh god, what is happening?!'

Notes:

Hope you all enjoy this. I made Yue Yue and our Dabao became friends because Dabao need a girl friend to help him with shopping with his colorblindness.
