She hated this…… More than anything. She thought about that moment long ago. after all, it was the anniversary of that night. Sam hated having to lie or pretend that the pain wasn’t there.
In the moments when she had her band by her side. As they get ready for their first major gig. ‘The guys should be here.’ She thinks as she tries to ease her own nerves.
“Hey Sam. They are here with us and would have been so proud of you.” Sam grips Luna’s hand tightly as she listens to her friend talk.
“Thanks Luna you’re the best.” She leans her head on Luna’s shoulder. They had a few minutes before showtime. But they had gotten to the venue earlier for the sake of their new manager.
“okay let’s rock this night! For the boys!”
“Right for the boys!”
She takes the stage with her girls. She was able to make it through the whole set. Until— they started the next song. The melody of the song—their song. The song she had written with him, with her older brother Reggie. She holds in her emotions as she tries to hold it together.
“Hey we can take 5 minutes if you need it girl?” Luna asks her. “No we follow through. But thanks for the offer.”
“Hello everyone we are Zettabytes. I’m Samantha Phillip Peters, on bass guitar is Rachel, on drums is Cindy and on keyboard it’s Luna. Say hey girls! And of course on lead vocals with me it’s Loretta. this last song is personal to me. It was written with my brother Reggie. As many of our fans know. We lost him when I was pretty young but he still lives on through our music.”
As she starts to strum on the chords. “She forgot to mention to y’all this song is Home is where my horse is.” Says Loretta. She had finished the song he never knew how to.
Ad they started singing. Julie and the boys appear out of nowhere backstage. “Seriously that never gets easier boys.” Julie says as she catches her breath. “Besides what if someone saw us?”
“Jules it’s okay! Live in the moment babe!” Luke says as he jumps around.”
“Also I totally didn’t sign us up for this contest.’ Reggie says. “
“So you totally did didn’t you?” Alex asks while rolling his eyes.
“Julie do we have to?” Bobby whines. (Yep there’s another version of Bobby. Teen Bobby)
Reggie walks away before he can hear what Julie answers Bobby with. He stares in aww of the act currently on stage. “Wow she’s good. I wish I could hold her. Like I used to.”
Julie places her hand on his shoulder. “She someone you used to know?”
”She’s my best friend and younger sister Samantha.”
