Work Text:

Bakugo marched into the common room, beelining to the stairs to the dorms, brows furrowed as his hands were clamped tightly over his mouth.

The few people in the common room perked up at the intrusion, watching as Todoroki calmly walked in shortly after. A ghost of a smile played on his lips as Bakugo ran out of sight before anyone could ask questions.

“Yo! Back from patrol already?” Kirishima asked, turning to look over the back of the couch

Mina jumped up next to him, arms keeping her from falling out of her seat with how far forward she was leaning. Before Todoroki could respond to Kirishima's original ask, she began to speak.

“Better question, what’s up with blasty?”

Todoroki drew his attention from the stairs to the pair, deciding to look to Kirishima first.

“Patrol was fine. We ended up having to stop a robbery,” he glanced at Mina “In which Bakugo was hit by a hostage's quirk. He currently has no brain-to-mouth filter.”

Their jaws dropped, followed by Uraraka who had been seated near-by.

“So he’s just saying anything that comes to mind?”

A slight nod, which is all Mina needed before she let out a squeal.

“Oh I am SO telling everyone about this!”

Izuku’s phone buzzed on his desk next to his laptop, notifications from the Class 3A group chat filling his screen.

With a sigh, he grabbed his phone, clicking the most recent notification to see what everyone was talking about.

From: Mina- YOU WILL NEVER GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO BLASTY

From: Iida- Did something bad happen on Bakugo and Todoroki’s patrol?

From: Uraraka- Bad for him but GREAT for us

From: Kirishima- Dudes it’s crazy

From: Kaminari- Spit it out I need details

From: Mina- HE HAS ZERO FILTER
HE'S JUST SAYING EVERYTHING HE'S THINKING

From: Todoroki- This is true. He told me he thought I was a great hero and friend.

From: Kaminari- OMG???

THIS IS GREAT FOR BLACKMAIL

From: Iida- We should not use the influence of a quirk to get blackmail on our friend!

As the chat continued on fighting between whether or not they should use this to their advantage, Izuku couldn’t help but be curious. Sure, he shouldn’t be mean and abuse the influence of a quirk, but he had so many questions. What did Kacchan really think of him? They had been getting along recently. Did Kacchan see him as a friend?

Izuku ignored the fact that he secretly hoped the crush he had on the blonde was reciprocated. He couldn’t get his hopes up on something like that.

Izuku turned his phone back on, opening the group chat back up.

From: Mineta- maybe he's secretly pervy about the girls

From: Tsu- you are so gross…

From: Mina- bakubabes a gentleman who would never be like that

you’re just weird

From: Midoriya- How long are the effects supposed to last?

From: Todoroki- The woman with the quirk said it would last around 48 hours

Izuku hummed, setting the phone down. He figured Katsuki would be happy with the fact that the effects would be gone by the time their next class was. Chewing his lip, he looked at his door, contemplating whether he would go downstairs in hopes of running into the man or sleeping and trying in the morning.

He ended up choosing the latter of the two options, figuring Katsuki would hide in his room until absolutely necessary. With that he closed his laptop, pushing his chair in as he stood to walk to his bed.

Before he was able to fall asleep, however, his phone buzzed from a different message.

From: Kacchan- Help
These extras won't leave me alone

They keep pounding on my door

I am holding it shut as we speak

Izuku giggled at the message, typing back a response almost immediately

From: Deku- Someones popular

How exactly do you expect me to help

From: Kacchan- I don’t know

Just do something

I’ll kill you if you don’t get them away

From: Deku- Goodnight

From: Kacchan- Fuck
No
Come back
Deku
Izuku no wait

Izuku shut off his phone, laying back down to go to sleep. He ignored the million more notifications he got before drifting off.

Izuku woke up the next morning, grabbing his phone and heading downstairs for breakfast, grinning at how many texts he had from an angry Katsuki.

Upon entering the common room, he could hear the commotion of nearly half his class on the couches.

“Bakugo is surprisingly sweet, I would’ve never guessed he thought so highly of me.” Yaoyorozu stated from her seat.

“I know right!” Started Uraraka “He’s such a softie!”

His class continued chatting, the room filling with giggles as everyone shared the words Katsuki had said. Izuku smiled, walking into the kitchen.

He hadn’t expected to run into a fuming Katsuki, but fate apparently had other plans.

“Goodmorning, Kacchan!”

Katsuki dropped his spatula out of surprise, cursing as he turned to look at Izuku.

“I hate you so fucking much for leaving me to fend my shitty friends off myself-” before the rest of his sentence could come out he threw his hand over his mouth, clearly not wanting Izuku to know the end.

Which, albeit, left him quite curious.

Izuku shrugged it off, grinning. “I was tired, Kacchan. Need my beauty sleep.” He giggled “And you called them your friends !”

Katsukis eyes narrowed before he turned back around to finish making his food.

Izuku walked past him, opening the fridge to find a drink before sitting on the counter next to Katsuki. He earned a glare in response, the hand over his mouth muffling sentences he couldn’t quite make out. Clearly too embarrassing for Izuku to hear. Or his ego was just too high for him to let Izuku know he didn’t think he was all that bad.

Whatever it was, Izuku wished he could hear it.

He watched Katsuki mumble in amusement for a while longer. Eventually, he finished his food and raced out without a goodbye, running up the stairs and leaving Izuku in the kitchen with a smile. Izuku eventually made his own breakfast, going back to his room, listening to a couple more of his classmates rambling as he passed by.

The quirk was supposed to wear off in the next 6ish hours, and Izuku still hadn’t worked up the courage to ask Katsuki what he thought of him.

Pretty much everyone else in their class has heard from him, surprisingly even Iida, who was around when Tsu asked Katsuki about him. Iida was pleasantly warmed by the man's kind words, which in turn made him less strict on everyone's questions to Katsuki.

So Izuku was the only one who hadn’t heard from Katsuki.

Which is why he was now in front of his door, hand held up about to knock. He left three soft raps on the door, responded only with a quiet “go away” from the other side.

“It’s me, Kacchan”

The man remained silent for a bit, the door eventually cracking open to reveal Katsuki. His hand still plastered on his mouth as he spoke.

“W’dya wan’” It was hard to understand him from how muffled he was, but Izuku could manage.

A wobbly smile took over his face as he rubbed his arm.

“Everyone else has got to hear what you think of them and… I dunno…” He scratched the back of his neck, glancing away before looking back. “I guess I was curious what you thought of me.”

Katsuki’s gaze softened, shifting his weight uncomfortably as he spoke muffled.

Izuku frowned, hand reaching up to rest atop Katsuki’s, causing him to stop his rambling and stare at Izuku with slightly widened eyes.

“Please, Kacchan? I promise nothing you say will make me think of you any less. I just want to know if you think of me the way I think of you.”

Katsuki wouldn’t know that was practically a love confession.

He slowly pulled Katsuki’s hand from his mouth, only feeling some restraint.

“Izuku I don’t-”

Katsuki’s words died on his tongue as he looked at Izuku’s hopeful gaze.

And then he started speaking again before he could stop himself.

“I’m in love with you. I have been for awhile now but i’m so scared you don’t love me back that i’ve never told you.”

Katsuki blushed furiously, looking anywhere but at Izuku to save some of his dignity.

Izuku, on the other hand, kept his view on Katsuki. Eyes wide and face red as he processed the confession.

“Wait, seriously?”

The blonde sucked in a sharp breath, pulling his hand away. “I’m sorry, uhm. You should- you should go.”

He began closing the door, chewing his lip as he stared at the ground with a look of utter fear and rejection clouding his eyes. Izuku stopped the door before it could close, pushing it back open and placing a hand on Katsuki’s cheek to draw his gaze back towards him. Confusion laced his expression.

“‘Zuku? What are you-”

Without much thought, Izuku surged forward, shutting Katsuki up with a press to his lips. His eyes only widened for a moment, closing soon after as he returned the kiss.

They parted quite quickly, Katsuki muttering a “holy shit” before pulling Izuku close and kissing him again. Izuku smiled into it, giggling when they parted.

“I was really hoping you were going to tell me you loved me.”

Katsuki furrowed his brows, his grin not faltering “Sap.”

“You’re the one that confessed.” Izuku retaliated.

“Yeah yeah whatever.” He rolled his eyes, smiling.
“So… will you be my boyfriend?”

Izuku pretended to ponder the question, responding with “Hm… I don’t know…”, earning a flick to the forehead. He chuckled, looping his arms around Katsuki’s neck.

“Yeah, I’d love to be your boyfriend, Kacchan.”

Katsuki wrapped his arm around Izuku’s waist “Thank god. Kinda thought you were just kissin me to kiss me for a second.”

Izuku’s boyfriend pulled him into the room, closing the door behind them.

At the end of the hall, Mina silently pumped her fist next to Uraraka.
