Work Text:
Chan is a levelheaded hybrid—he calmly lets his handler collar him the way he’s seen him do to the other hybrids getting adopted despite his instinctive urge to bare his teeth and snarl.
The man—Changbin, he recalls—is waiting to the side, watching over him with what Chan smells as slight nervousness. He had told Chan that he’d be taking him home today.
“All done.” The handler steps away, handing Chan’s leash over to his new owner.
Changbin smiles at him. “Come along, Channie. Let’s go home.”
Home.
That’s a word Chan hasn’t used in a long time. He’s been in the shelter for almost as long as he can remember, and the prospect of home, of a place where he can belong, feels foreign to him. At the same time, he wants it—wants the safety and security that comes with having a place to stay permanently with someone who cares about him.
Chan’s tail wags behind him as he follows Changbin.
His new owner is nice. Changbin came to visit him twice a week prior to today, often talking about activities he enjoys doing that he wants to involve Chan in.
Walking, jogging, running, weightlifting—all activities that a husky hybrid loves.
Chan is pretty active himself, often giving his handler a hard time with how much he loves pushing himself physically. It’s not something he can really control, so having an owner as enthusiastic about his favorite activities as him is a good thing.
“Remember I talked about housing another hybrid?” Changbin asks him.
That’s right, Changbin did talk to him about this other hybrid—a feline hybrid, but he doesn’t remember the hybrid’s name.
Chan nods. Changbin beams at him.
“I hope you’ll get along with him, he’s a lovely kitty,” Changbin says fondly, patting Chan’s shoulder. It makes his tail thump against his legs.
Chan will get along with this kitty for his owner. Maybe they’ll even be best friends?
⋆✦⋆✦⋆
Felix, the feline hybrid, smells so good.
Chan used to catch faint traces of it whenever Changbin would visit him at the shelter, but he didn’t realize it would be so potent. He immediately smells his scent the moment the door to Changbin’s home opens and tries to follow the scent to its source, but Changbin firmly holds onto the lead.
“Lix? Come out, meet your new playmate!” Changbin calls out, closing the door behind him as he keeps Chan close to him.
There’s the sound of a door opening, and then soft footsteps padding on carpet until someone pokes a head full of silvery hair around the corner of the entryway, a soft-furred cat ear resting atop it.
Chan sees the wide eye and tries to go towards the little one, almost choking himself on his leash.
“Woah, calm down, Channie!” Changbin exclaims, yanking him back. With a huff, Chan settles down, his tail swishing impatiently behind him.
Felix comes out after some more coaxing in which Changbin promises him a treat. He looks so pretty and tiny compared to Chan’s bulk, like a fragile thing that could be snapped in half with a single bite if they were in their animal forms.
Chan wants to be his friend. His best friend. If only Changbin could let go already so that he can shower his new best friend with affection.
Eventually, Changbin does release his leash. The first thing Chan does is crowd Felix’s space, sniffing around him, butting his head against Felix’s scent glands.
Felix smells so divine, the effect his scent has on Chan reminds of those tranquilizers his handler used to inject him with whenever he got too rowdy in his early days being trained.
It puzzles him when Felix withdraws, his cute face scrunched up as he scrambles to get away from him. Felix stares at him with those wide eyes, moving behind the corner and hissing frightfully.
It’s so adorable seeing someone so small trying to project an air of intimidation when Chan can smell his fear a mile away. It adds such a nice note to Felix’s scent that he can’t help but want to keep inducing fear.
“Poor Lix,” Changbin murmurs, making Chan’s ears perk up. “I guess he’s not used to having another hybrid around.”
Chan hums, cocking his head. Determination wells up inside him. He’s going to make Felix his best friend.
⋆✦⋆✦⋆
Chan’s plan to make Felix his best friend is simple.
Play with him until he accepts his friendship. It’s foolproof.
Felix might be dispassionate about becoming his friend right now, but he’ll come around. Chan is sure that he will once he realizes how good of a friend he is.
Chan spends every waking second trailing after Felix when he’s not having fun with Changbin. His owner seems content to let them be, not minding their antics since Chan isn’t being aggressive or violent.
He’s just… enthusiastic.
“Why won’t you stop following me?” Felix whimpers, his scent thickening in response to his fear as Chan scents him again. “I just want to be alone. Go bother Changbin or something.”
Chan thinks about it for a moment, then shakes his head. “I like you,” he says simply, grinning widely at Felix. It shows off his fangs, making Felix’s scent deepen with more fear.
“And I don’t like you,” Felix retorts, turning his nose up at him. All it does is make Chan excited, pushing Felix down on the floor and keeping him pinned with his larger bulk to lap at his face and neck.
Felix, despite his apparent dislike of Chan, remains frozen underneath him. He clenches his eyes shut, letting out a pitiful mewl as Chan licks repeatedly over his scent gland.
“A–ah, mm—”
Chan likes the scent wafting off Felix like this too, sweet like the honey treats he’d sometimes get at the shelter. He nips lightly at Felix’s neck, getting a blast of his scent.
Once he’s satisfied, Chan gets off Felix and lets out a satisfied noise at the cloud of sweetness surrounding them. He watches as Felix slowly gets to his feet on shaky legs, blinking at the wet spot at the back of the kitty’s pants.
Later, Chan overhears Changbin talking about him on the phone. He knows this because he heard his name being said, which drew his attention in the first place.
“You’re saying he’s an Alpha? Min, I have an Omega ragdoll living with us! God, no wonder Lix has been so reticent lately.”
Chan doesn’t know what Alpha or Omega means, but he understands that it’s what makes Felix behave like that with him. He always feels a bit sad and mostly jealous when he sees how well-behaved Felix is with their owner. It makes him wish Felix would be like that with him, too.
“You think it’ll be okay? So Felix just needs to accept him as his mate?” Changbin asks this Min person over the phone.
Now that’s a concept Chan is familiar with. One of his older hybrid friends at the shelter had explained it to him as being a special way to say best friends for life. In fact, it’s so special that Chan can only have one best friend for life.
Chan used to wonder how he’d find his best friend for life, but his friend had assured him that he’d know when he found the right one. And he really feels like he did when he saw Felix. He’d love to be his best friend for life. Having that addictive sweetness for the rest of his existence sounds like doggy heaven to him.
His friend once mentioned that to make someone his mate, he has to follow his instincts and claim him by biting him when the time is right—when his scent is at its sweetest to Chan.
Felix’s scent gets really sweet when Chan scents him and licks his scent glands, so maybe he’s on the right track there. Something stirs within him at the thought of making Felix his.
⋆✦⋆✦⋆
Chan’s rut comes and goes, Changbin keeping him separated from Felix. He thought about the little omega the entire time, emptying over and over into the pocket pussy he was given while imagining it was Felix.
After Chan’s rut, he returns to following Felix around with renewed enthusiasm. He missed the omega’s scent, and the way he would freeze whenever Chan came close enough.
“Hey Lix,” Chan calls out, energetically bounding over to Felix the moment he comes back home after a workout session with Changbin. He’s sweaty, but he doesn’t care, almost tackling Felix down as he begins scenting him.
“G–get off me,” Felix whispers, twitching underneath Chan.
“Channie, bath time!” Changbin appears, dragging Chan away by the scruff of his tank top.
Chan can’t help the tiny growl he lets out, unwilling to be separated from Felix. Felix lets out a plaintive meow as well, looking shocked by his own reaction.
Changbin rolls his eyes. “You two can get cozy later, after you’ve cleaned up.”
Chan puts up a weak struggle, but ultimately cleans up, only to find his way back to Felix once again. He just likes him so much, it’s hard for Chan to focus on anything else.
“You smell so good,” Chan tells Felix later in their shared room.
Although they have separate beds, Chan often joins Felix in his own bed. He relishes in marking the bed—and Felix, by proxy—as his territory, much to the kitty’s dismay.
“You’ve told me that already,” Felix mumbles, shrinking back on his bed. “So many times.”
“It’s true though,” Chan says, already eagerly climbing into Felix’s bed. He lies down and pulls Felix against him before the hybrid can run away, nuzzling into his neck.
Felix shivers as he licks overs his scent gland, a faint moan escaping his mouth. He doesn’t resist, never has, simply lying stiffly like he’s just waiting for Chan to do something.
Chan lets out a low, rumbling growl, his mouth watering. He sounds near feral—a side effect of getting scent drunk on Felix’s scent. “I could eat you right now.”
“Pl–please don’t,” Felix pleads, stiffening to the point that Chan could mistake him for a statue, limbs are locked tight—not that Chan minds.
Effortlessly, Chan changes their positions so that Felix is trapped underneath him on his hands and knees. The back of Felix’s sleep shorts are already wet, smelling just as sweet as its owner, and Chan gives into the urge to bury his face into the wet spot.
It’s intoxicating.
Huffing, Chan pulls down the shorts and presses his face back in, parting Felix’s ass cheeks to get to the source. At first, all he does is take great big sniffs, but then he accidentally tastes Felix’s wetness on his tongue and it awakens a ravenous hunger from within him.
With broad strokes of his tongue, Chan laps over Felix’s hole, catching rivulets of slick like he’s a dehydrated dog at an oasis. He lets out a low growl at the sound of Felix’s frightened whimpers and the subsequent gush of fluid.
Felix pushes his ass back against Chan’s face, his sharp claws snagging into the covers with a sharp pop. He trembles, scent still laden with fear that mixes with arousal. Chan’s eyes dilate as he grows even more drunk on slick, hips rutting against the mattress.
With a loud yowl, Felix tenses up and slick floods Chan’s mouth, sweeter than ever. Instinctively, Chan knows he just released, satisfaction curling in his chest that he was able to pleasure his omega.
Moving up, Chan covers Felix’s body with his broad frame and pins him down to the bed. Felix submits beautifully, a soft meow leaving his lips as he wiggles his hips, showing how ready he is.
Chan, hard as a rock, lets out a frustrated grunt as he tries to push into Felix, only for his shorts to get in the way. With an annoyed growl, he forcefully shucks them off enough that his cock springs out, slapping heavily against his navel.
Without looking back down, Chan mounts Felix. It takes a few tries before he’s pushing all the way inside with a single stroke, Felix keening from underneath him.
Not even giving Felix the chance to get used to him, Chan starts rapidly fucking him without any hesitation. Felix cries out, clenching tightly around Chan’s cock, almost like he’s goading Chan to go deeper despite there being no more length.
“You smell so delicious,” Chan moans out, almost delirious from the scent. It’s sweet, almost too sweet, reminiscent of the time his handler had taught him how to identify overripe fruits. But it also has the most primitive part of him rearing up to the surface, screaming at him to claim the hybrid below him.
Drool drips down Chan’s chin and over the juncture of Felix’s neck where his scent gland is pumping out pheromones. He can feel his teeth aching with the need to bite down, to bury his fangs in the place that will claim Felix as his.
“Ch–Chan!”
Yes, Chan thinks, panting as he fucks Felix with reckless abandon. Mineminemine. There’s not much else to his thought process.
Hips snapping against Felix’s ass, Chan can feel his knot forming at the base of his cock. He knows he’s close—so close—and that he has to stuff Felix full. Breed his kitty like he’d fantasized about doing so often during his rut.
Weak mewls follow Chan’s onslaught, and he can feel Felix’s walls rippling around his cock. It feels like it’s sucking him in, inch by inch, until he forces his knot all the way inside Felix’s writhing body and bites down on his scent gland to place a mating mark.
Chan’s knot pops, his chest rumbling as he fills Felix full of his cum. He licks over the bite mark, a low rumbling purr in his chest at the warmth of their new bond.
“Are we friends now?” Chan asks, nuzzling into the crook of Felix’s neck.
“Mhm,” Felix sighs out. From within the slowly thickening strands, there’s a pulse of desire and affection.
Chan beams at him, eagerly licking his cheek. He can’t really move too much without tugging against his knot, but it doesn’t matter—he’s finally achieved his goal!
⋆✦⋆✦⋆
Felix enters the room, and despite Changbin’s presence, settles on the couch next to Chan. He lets out a soft purr as he rests against Chan’s side, fingers kneading into firm muscles like the cat he is.
“You two sure are cozy,” Changbin remarks, side-eyeing the two of them.
Chan puts on an innocent look like he has no idea what his owner is talking about, almost letting out a joyful howl when Felix curls up on his lap. He wraps his arms around his little mate, almost engulfing him with his broad frame.
Felix lets out a contented chirrup, sniffing at Chan’s neck before licking at the mating mark he had later given him. It buzzes with pleasant affection, which he returns with even more exuberance.
There really is no better friend than a best friend for life.
