Hi!! Thanks for reading, this is just a fun little Idea I had that I hope you enjoy it!!

Chapter 1
Who would want to date an undercover cop?

2 weeks after the undercover mission in Vegas.

Lucy sipping her coffee, listening to John talk about Bailey, well, bragging about Bailey and how great they are doing. She smiles and nods, trying not to think about her relationship that feels like it’s lost all the fire it once had. She hated herself for thinking that way. The man had almost died because of her, and while he was bleeding out on her couch, she’d been flirting with Tim, inviting him inside while they were still Dim and Jucy.

Their little bubble of pretend where they were a passionate couple had popped when she discovered her Chris was covered in blood as they rushed him to the hospital, and they never spoke about what happened between them. “Lucy, can I borrow you?” Lopez called from the door, “Sure,” she said, saying a quick goodbye to John, who gave her a little joking salute as she rushed to follow Lopez to one of the interview rooms where a few files and a laptop laid scattered across a table Tim was standing at the table leaned over reading one of the files. “I’ll cut to the chase, I need you to go undercover,” Lopez said, grabbing the folder Tim was reading and handing it to her.

(switch to Tim’s POV)

He watched Lucy read over the text on the page, “Infuriating the dead-end Riders?” she asked her without looking up. She was trying to avoid looking at me. I understood the feeling, but I couldn’t stop myself from looking. The memories of the last UC OP crowded inside his mind. Especially how it ended, her flirty tone as she pointed out how technically they were still undercover until the following morning, how she had invited him in with the blush on her cheeks.

That blush drained from her face as we found Chris, and aside from the basic text messages asking if she was okay, they hadn’t spoken, and now she was going undercover, something he’d tried talking Lopez out of it but she’d insisted it was perfect for Lucy.

“You can ride a bike, right?” Tim said in his normal tone that made Lucy furrow her brows at him, “I rode a bit in college, a guy I dated had one and taught me,” she says, “good,” he said, meeting her eyes “You’ll have to take a course before going undercover,” Lopez starts drawing both of their attention Lucy nods “I have to warn you this undercover looks like it could last a few months, you likely wont get any information until you break the inner circle.

That’s the part that Tim hated about this. He had watched as undercover work drove his ex-wife to drugs, and the thought of that happening to Lucy scared him more than he wanted to admit.
Looking at lucy he saw the conflict in her eyes “chris is only just getting back to work i’ll have to talk to him about it” lucy says to Lopez she nods at Lucy “I need an anwser by tomorrow. Read over the case and get back to me” lopez says while walking to leave the room she squeezes lucys arm “this case would look good for making detective if thats still what you want” she tells her as she strolls out.

“Shes not wrong” he admits crossing his arms “I know, I want to do it but chris..” she says trailing off “Look if this is what you want then take it. If he has a problem with it then thats his issue not yours,” he say watching her look back down at the case file. His phone buzzes with a message from Gray needing him in his office. “I have to go,” he says, walking, hearing Lucy mumble something as he leaves. He glances back but sees that she’s deep into reading the case info.

(Lucy POV)

It’s the end of shift, and my head is already heading towards UC mode, where she’s not her; instead, she's the UC motorcyclist bartender who will enter the club and find evidence on them selling firearms. As she arrives home, she notices Chris's car in the lot at her building. She checks her phone, seeing a message from Tamara letting her know she’ll be out late at a friend’s. She lets out a sigh, glad that she won't be here to see the mess that her relationship is going to become. As she walks in, the smell of indian food makes her stomach rumble, reminding her that her lunch had been cut short by a car being stolen in front of her on the way to get lunch.

“Welcome home!” Chris said, handing her a glass of wine as she hung her coat up, he leaned to kiss her cheek as he led her to the island to sit down for dinner. “You didn’t have to do all this,” she tells him, guilt clawing at her. “Well, I thought it would be nice to sit down, I had something I wanted to ask you,” he says, smiling at her. “I think we should move in-” “I’m going undercover,” she interrupts. He looks at her, surprised, “Again?, You were just undercover two weeks ago.”
He says with a tone of annoyance,

“But it will be so good for my career, and Lopez is counting on me.” She tells him the lie at the end, stinging a bit. Lopez would be able to find another UC agent, but Lucy knew she would be best for this mission. “How long will you be gone this time?” he asks, his fist clenching around his wine glass. “I’m not sure, Lopez thinks it will be at least a month if not longer,” she trails off as he runs his hands through his hair. “Lucy, I can’t do this. I want a future with you. I want a home and a girlfriend who isn’t gone for months on end with no communication,” he says, getting up and grabbing his keys and jacket. “It’s me or the job, Lucy, you pick!” he gives her the ultimatum she knew was coming.

Chris had never loved the idea of her going undercover and had often suggested jobs that were less risky and with fewer hours. “I’m sorry, Chris, it’s the job, it will always be the job,” she gets out as the tears fill her eyes. Chris pulls the door open. “You’re going to get yourself killed one of these days,” he says and slams the door behind him. A sob racks through her, while Chris might not have been the one, it felt like a loss. Chris was the kind of guy her family would have approved of, but again, nothing in her life that her parents approved of tended to stick.

Rubbing her face and taking a big sip of wine she pulled her phone out and called Lopez, “Hey Lucy, what’s up?” came from the phone I could hear baby Jacks babbling in the background “I’ll do the undercover case” she tells her hoping her voice dosen’t sound as broken as she feels “you okay” Lopez asks “I’m fine chris just didn’t take the news well” she says a sad laugh at the end “How so?” Lopez inquires, “Well, he wanted to get a house and start something serious. I wanted to make a detective and work undercover.” She sighs, putting the leftover food in the fridge with a note for Tamara to take it for lunch tomorrow, her appetite gone. “ouch, well, I mean all relationships are hard for cops, especially undercover” Lopez says wanting to end the conversation and go take a long shower she wishes lopez a good night and texts Tamara to make sure she’s okay before heading to shower.
