Chapter Text
The smell of freshly baked bread and soup filled the kitchen. The sounds of playful squeals and laughs being heard from outside of the small cottage. Viktor smiled and placed plates on the table where Jayce, him, and the kids would sit. He walked outside and onto the porch where Jayce was sitting in one of those unsturdy rocking chairs that made you worried if you were going to fall or not. He looked out into the vast yard where two of his kids were playfully rolling around in the grass and looked around to find his other playing by the stream. Jayce reached out and gently grabbed his hand. "don't worry I'm watching her..." he said softly and turned his head back to the stream.
Viktor smiled and let out a snicker "I wasn't doubting that you were..." He gently squeezed Jayce's hand. "Can you wrangle them in? Dinners ready." Viktor let go of Jayces hand and walked back inside the cottage. Not even two minutes later all three kids came running into the house. "Woah woah slow down! Jayce called out and ran in behind them. Viktor chuckled and brought the pot of soup over to the table. The three kids sat down into their seat and Viktor and Jayce poured the soup into their small bowls then their own.
Viktor took his seat next to Jayce at the table. He watched with a smile as the kids ate. He let out a soft sigh and started to eat, or drink whatever you think, his own soup. Normally he wouldn't eat a lot but now that he was pregnant with their forth child he really did need the nutrients not just for him but the little one in his stomach. Viktor was 5 months already. He couldn't believe at all how quick the time flew by since he found out. Though he wished it could go faster, his back was killing him. Jayce had his hand resting on Viktors thigh, like always.
Once everybody finished up their food, Jayce offered to do the dishes. He always offered to do them and wouldn't take no for an answer. Especially because Viktor was pregnant again he helped out way more than what he already did, which was a lot. The two stood next to each other as they both washed the dishes. Viktor was leaned against Jayce with his head on his shoulder. Jayce's head was rested on top of Viktors. They both watched from the small window as the kids made up some make-believe story and were acting it out. "what do you think it is this time? Dragons?" Jayce chuckled and gently nudged Viktor. "Hmm maybe not... kind of looks like some kind and queen..." Viktor snickered and looked up at Jayce.
Jayce placed the last dish into the cabinet then wrapped his arms around Viktors waist. "How's the little guy coming along?.." he asked quietly and traced patterns on his stomach, which was finally starting to grow. Viktor chuckled and placed his hand on top of Jayce's. "Good, I think this one is better than the other one's... My back doesn't hurt as much." Viktor sighed and pressed his cheek to Jayce's. "well that's good... You know they say third times a charm! or well I guess forth..." He laughed and slowly let go of Viktor. "its a nice night, lets sit outside?" He took Viktor's hand and gently squeezed it. "Yeah of course..."
There they sat in those awkward rocking chairs on the porch watching the kids roughhouse and play in the long blades of gross. The sun was starting to set and the wind slightly picked up, though it was a warm breeze. Viktor left his seat and joined the kids where they were laying Jayce doing the same minutes later. They all stared up into the sky where the sun was setting and stars were starting to become visible.
"that's the big dipper..." Viktor said loud enough so everyone could hear as he pointed to the sky. "That's the little one right there..." Jayce chimed in and pointed to the other constellation in the sky. "that's lynx..." Viktor took one of his kids hand and pointed it to the sky where he pointed to all the points. Jayce raised an eyebrow "No, that's Aries..." He mumbled Viktor sighed "No its not Jayce we went over this..." He said softly. The two went back and forth about it the usual playful banter between the two. The kids were giggling as Jayce and Viktor started to get deeper into the argument. "I don't know how you think that's Aries! just look at it really!" Viktor laughed. "Wait... No your right it is lynx.." Jayce let out a defeated sigh and shook his head. "Ha! I told you so!" Viktoe let out a huff and laid back down in the grass. "dad can we go inside? It's too dark now..." One of his kids tugged at his shirt. "Oh yes of course honey..." Viktor stood up and helped his kid up. They three of them already racing to the house. Viktor chuckled and shook his head. Jayce and Viktor walked hand in hand behind them as they walked into the cottage.
"alright kids bath time!" Jayce called out making all the kids groan. The kids marched upstairs with him and Viktor following behind. The sound of running water filled the upstairs bathroom. Viktor sat on the edge of the tub with his hand under the faucet making sure the water wasn't too hot nor too cold. He put in those color tablet things in that made the water turn a color. Tonight's color is blue, as requested by his eldest boy.
The three kids sat in the tub. Viktor and Jayce sat on the edge. "Close your eyes so the soap doesn't get in them..." Viktor said softly and tiped the cup full of water over the kids head. Brown water came from the kids head. "Jeez who wants to tell me what shenanigans you all got into today?.." Jayce laughed and scrubbed the other kids head with shampoo. "Oh oh we saw a newt in the stream! And we went after it! Then after that we played dragons in the field!" the middle child chimed in.
"oh? dragons again?" Viktor said softly and scrubbed the kid with a rag. "Yeah yeah! I was a water one!" The youngest added. "hmm well that would explain this..." Jayce chuckled and pulled a water plant from the kids hair. Viktor snickered and shook his head. "kids if youre going to go to the stream please tell us..." Viktor stuck his arm into the water and pulled the drain. "oh they're just having fun, Viktor. I'm sure they'll be fine..." Jayce grabbed the towels and helped the kids dry off. "Oh yes I know they'll... probably... be safe, but it would hurt to know where they're at in case..." Viktor sighed "I'm sorry dad..." the youngest said. "oh no no its totally alright but just in the future alright... I just want you to be safe..." Viktor pressed a kiss to the child's head.
They walked into the kids bedroom and got them dressed into pajamas. "who wants a story?" Jayce asked and sat on the edge of one of the kids bed. "Me!" they all said in union. Viktor chuckled and leaned against the door frame on hand resting on his stomach. "Alright which one do I tell? Okay I have one now..."
"when I was a young boy me and my mother were traveling through a massive snow storm. My mother was not feeling well at all, which is why we where our coats kids..." Jayced chuckled softly. "Well she almost died until a mage showed up. They used these stone's that had magic in them... It saved my mother from death..." Jayce cleared his throat. "well the mage gave me that stone and I was dazzled! How did they some how use magic? That question stayed on my mind all the way to adulthood. I was studying it and I got pretty close to harnessing magic through those stones... Though something went wrong and well the place I was staying at the time went boom..." He chuckled and the kids did too. "well that is actually how I meet your father... The assistant to the dean of the academy and the head of the council!" Jayce laughed and mocked Viktor with the same tone he had when they met so many years ago. "Oh yeah yeah laugh it up!" Viktor crossed his arms over his chest.
"well that night we would have a break through when Viktor saw the potential in my research. We did it. We actually made magic that night! And then after that everything was just... it was just amazing..." Jayce waved his hands in the air. "well you could say that for you... what happened was your papa here came into fame eh what did they call you?" He walked over to the bed and sat down next to Jayce. "They called me the golden boy!" Jayce said exclaimed. "mmn yes the golden boy..." Viktor snickered and Jayce sighed "okay well anyways, Me and Viktor made many things that we thought would help the world be better. I think it did for a little then things started to get out of hand and well... we stopped it was too dangerous..." Jayce prosperously left out the details of the war and what happened with Viktor. Which Viktor did appreciate he didn't need their kids knowing that violence was ever an option.
It was silent for a few moments until Jayce cleared his throat. "well its time for you kids to fall asleep!" He clapped his hands together and walked around to each of the kids bed to give them all kisses goodnight. Viktor did the same. "goodnight sleep well, love you all! And sleep in tomorrow!" Viktor said one last time before they left the room.
"youre aware there is no away that they are actually going to sleep in, right?" Jayce said as he snuggled into bed besides Viktor. Jayce's chest pressed against Viktor's back and his arms wrapped around his waist. "mhm I know..." Viktor said softly and rested his head under Jayce's chin. Jayce let out a sigh and pulled the covers over the two of them. "Oh hey! we should go to the stream tomorrow! Since it seems like the kids have been having fun there more often..." Jayce chuckled softly "I reckon because it's getting hot and the stream is colder..." Viktor shut his eyes and rested his hands under the pillows. "who knows... I love you..." Jayce pressed a kiss to the back of viktors head and rested his chin back on top of Viktor's head. "love you too darling..." Viktor said in return and Jayce let out a squeal. "what? you sound like a little girl..." Viktor chuckled "You called me darling..." Jayce snickered and nuzzled his face into Viktor hair taking in the scent of lavender.
Viktor laughed "I call you that all the time, why is it so different?.." Jayce shrugged his shoulders "I'm not sure it's just always cute when you do it..." Jayce let out a hum. "Good night love..." jayce said softly and shut off the lamp. His arm then returning to Viktor's waist. "good night darling..." Viktor said in return and started to drift off to sleep.
