It was a secret glen deep in the forest where Mordred brought Morgana.
"When can I see?" She asked, smiling impatiently, and then she felt his careful hands removing the blindfold from her eyes. When she blinked, her heart rose in admiration: above, below and around her everything was white and blush and wild apple trees blooming.
"Do you like it?" Mordred's always deep and calm voice faltered.
"This is the most magical place I've ever seen. It's like we're in the fairy queen's tent..."
They sat down on the grass beside each other, comfortable around each other's presence. They were both wearing green: Mordred a dusty-mossy, Morgana a bright of young leaves. She was delighted to see that he has prepared a picnic for her: druid treats were laid out in small wooden bowls and on oak bark flats: brown scones, tiny berries, fish and nuts.
Mordred cared for her. No one has ever taken care of her not out of duty and pity. She never thought she would ever meet someone like him: beautiful to look at, with his eyes like the frost sky, and a modest smile that possesed something magical in itself; someone who also felt that strange thrilling bond between them; someone who comforted her when it hurt her to remember the past where Uther, Arthur, fear and hatred were left behind.
May he stay with me forever, never go, Morgana wished on the wind and apple blossom, asked his Goddess for.
Mordred gently placed a wreath of trilliums and scillas on her black locks. "You're the most beautiful."
"Am I the forest queen now?" Morgana smirked, and touched the flower crown.
"The forest has no kings and queens. It's free. Like your spirit, Morgana."
And then she realised Mordred loved her; saw it in the shadows on his face, and in the way the smile faded. He leaned in for a kiss. And Morgana allowed him to plant soft kisses first on her cheek and tender crook of her neck; and then she let him turn her head and pull her in to kiss her lips and whisper love in her ears.
Silk petals were softly falling from above, white and pink, and rain echoed in the fresh honey wind, and Morgana and Mordred dwelt together among the untrodden paths.
