Chapter Text
Hitoka has always been a Type A person, the one who organizes, the one who arranged. With groupings like this, she wants to clearly know the process. Though hesitant, especially that a new university environment isn't really helping her anxiety
But at least, she knows that her nerves is now better than before.
"Okay, uh, Yamaguchi-san, are you okay with having this part?" Hitoka asked, looking up at Yamaguchi with her fingers tapping on a paper with names from the group listed including their desired parts of the paper report that they are having.
"Sure, ma'am" Yamaguchi answered, "It wouldn't be a bother, i can do it and send it to you tomorrow" He continued.
writing down Yama.... "Huh? Why are you calling me ma'am?" Hitoka asked, Yamaguchi shrugs, "i got to go! I'll send the papers later at your email" he waves and nods to the other members of the group, walking out of the room.
"Okay, since everyone is settled down.. Just ask me question if you're confused of something?" The other group members nodded and started giving the good byes to each other. Hitoka watches them pack their things out before she looks at her notes.
Yamaguchi, Tadashi - Synthesis of the paper
Hitoka sighs. Groupings are exhausting.
"I already submitted our printed paper, ma'am" Yamaguchi said, Hitoka nods, cringes internally with the label she was called at.
Since this grouping has started, all she can hear is this green headed guy calling her Ma'am nonchalantly. For Hitoka, it brings chills down to his spine. As an only child, being called such is such weird thing from her. If her high school self encountered this guy, she knows, for sure, that she will definitely crash out.
Imagine being called Ma'am by someone at your age every interaction that you have?
"Have you guys already completed your tasks? If possible, can I have everything completed by tomorrow so that I can edit and run through with it?" Hitoka read the message again and again, 'I hope this wouldn't come out as demanding' she thought before hitting send.
One thing about university is that, despite the people being already adults, once you don't remind them, no one will move for the group work and it frustrates her more.
"Ugh. no one is replying once again." She whines,
"All they do Is seen my message or react, I cannot even receive a proper reply for i-- Why is this guy calling me ma'am?!" She groans in frustration.
"Yes, ma'am???" she whines, kicking her sheet "with that salute emoji too?! Doesn't he feels weird about it?" and kicks the air once again. ( Well, at least she didn't overreact? )
Feels so... weird.
Hitoka, not wanting to crash out, sighs internally, before looking up at Yamaguchi, "Thanks, sir" she replied, sarcastically, which weirdly, Yamaguchi gave her a grin for. "No problem, Ma'am. See you next class." He waves.
Hitoka shurgs to herself before putting her earphones to go back from her headspace. At least, no one is being hostile towards her after all; She considers it as a win.
The next few weeks feel like a dream to her. Having General Education classes is exhausting. Hitoka sits at the corner, earphones in her ears, taking breaths as the fatigue from the dance practice catches up to her. The blonde closes her eyes, letting the peace of being in her head flow. She breaths. It has been an exhausting week for her. If she only have a choice, she rather write thousand of essays than to dance, it must be nice to pour out the thoughts in her head and write-- poke. Hitoka opens her eyes slowly. A green headed Yamaguchi appears once again, smiling. She removes the piece of her earphone to hear him.
"Do you want anything?" He asks and she blinks in confusion. "Since the group is taking a break, Do you want anything to eat? I'll be going to the store for everyone." He continued, Hitoka grabs her own bag, searching for her purse, "What are you guys getting after all?" She asks. "Some meatbuns." he replied, "There's this good meatbun across the studio." Yuki suggested and everyone wants to try." He said, matter of fact, excitedly. Hitoka smiles and nods, "Can you buy me two? and water too?" Yamaguchi nodded. "Sure, ma'am. Will do"
Hitoka rolls her eyes, "Thank you, sir." and Yamaguchi laughs.
Hitoka's phone vibrates after she changes her shirt. She doesn't want to smell like sweat going home from the university so she always bring an extra shirt with her just incase. She takes her phone and looks at the notification caused by the vibration.
Yamaguchi-san: Hey, I brought your bag with me. The team is already checking out of the studio.
She rushed out of the comfort room, meeting her groupmates in front of the building. Yamaguchi hands her bag, she smiles at him in response. after this interaction, everyone partways. Walking back home, Hitoka realizes that she forgot to reply to the green haired's message. She looks at their conversation. 'Did I thank him for the bag?' she wonders, exhaustion taking over her memory, she decided just to reply instead of pondering.
Yachi: Thank you
Yamaguchi-san reacted haha on your reply
She stares at her phone. "Really?" She mumbles in disbelief as she walks back to her place.
"Hey" Yamaguchi greeted her, "Make sure to attend tomorrow's class okay?" he asked, commanded? Hitoka doesn't really know. She raised her eyebrow, "And If I didn't?" Yamaguchi frowns, almost pout actually, "Come onnn. I don't want to start the topic reporting tomorrow, I need you there!" Hitoka shakes her head. "
"I want to take an off tomorrow" She jokes
"You can't"
"I will"
"I'll tell our professor so he can fail you"
"I'll even accompany you to tell him"
"Fine"
"Fine"
And the report? It went fine. For Yamaguchi though, not for Hitoka as the professor just let her stand there and took over the presentation.
