Work Text:
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" You asked with a snort whilst watching Luke try to fit himself in the rather compact cupboard next to Kieran who doesn't look bothered at all.
Both of them nodded in sync, "Of course, we've never had a bad plan."
You could absolutely name the very many times they have had a bad plan. It was like both their braincells combined were made to cause disaster. And honestly, you loved it for them.
So you decided just join in for the fun of it, what could possibly go wrong?
"Alright boys, enjoy your spot." You said with a giggle before going off to find your own spot. You were a hunter, so of course you managed to find one that Sylus would definitely struggle to find from the get-go.
You made your way into the living room before getting down onto the floor and rolling under the couch. It was tight, sure, but it was as good as a hiding spot in this place would get.
You could distantly hear Luke and Kieran giggling in the kitchen and rolled your eyes. You loudly shushed them and they listened, thankfully.
Then right on time, the front door swung open and in came Sylus with his jacket slung over his shoulder and his hair tousled. So he must've come back on his motorcycle then.
You could hear him distantly sigh as he made his way past you under the couch, he must be heading to go shower.
Or at least you thought so.
Until your phone began to vibrate in your pocket. You cursed before quickly trying to fish it out and silence it. Sylus' footsteps became louder the further you fussed about before you finally found your phone and silenced it, praying and hoping that Sylus wasn't aware of you yet.
He stood in the hallway to his bedroom, his brows furrowed. The minutes felt like eons as he stood there, silently scanning the area like a damn lion hidden in tall grass, watching its prey and waiting to strike.
You held your breath for as long as you could despite how lightheaded you felt like you were getting, his stare alone was enough to keep you from messing up already.
He then let out a gruff noise before turning back around to go shower, which is confirmed when you hear the shower start up.
You let out a sigh of relief and slumped against the plush carpet. Holy shit, that could've ended terribly.
A few minutes passed before Sylus eventually emerged from the hallway and he made his way to the kitchen to probably prepare himself a snack for the time being.
Then, he opened up the fridge and let out a startled noise once something popped out at him, which you assume was confetti by the faint pop noise.
Then, he let out a quiet laugh that always managed to make your heart flutter.
"Ah, I see what's going on now." He said as if he was addressing them all. "It's a little game of hide and seek."
Goddamit, Luke and Kieran must've given it away with that little surprise of theirs. Of course they did, they were never the patient type anyway.
"I wonder what you little shits could be..." He said with a playfully threatening tone as he closed the fridge and began to search around and you could practically hear the grin in his voice alone.
Oh, this was going to be fun.
☆
A few minutes have passed and it was slowly turning into a horror movie.
Sylus' footsteps were horrifically silent and each noise of him opening something made you jump.
You decided to shuffle a little to see him better and that quickly proved to be a big mistake.
He turned around the very moment you moved and everything in you instantly froze. A silent stare-off between you two happened, but you weren't even sure if he had spotted you or not or if he was trying to scare you out of your hiding spot.
You were a hunter, that obviously wasn't going to work.
(But you were of course a little scared, those damn red eyes of his...)
Then, his gaze moved over to the cupboards that Luke and Kieran were hidden in. He stared at it for a good two minutes and as if they had sensed his stare alone, one of them made a noise.
Shit.
Sylus let out a laugh from his chest before kneeling down on one knee in front of the cupboard. "Try harder next time, boys."
They both let out a disappointed sigh at the very same time before Luke kicked open the cupboard door open and both practically came crashing out at once.
Sylus only stared at them both with a fond smile.
"Goddamit, Luke gave us away!" Kieran argued with a pout towards his brother.
He just responded with an eye roll.
You couldn't help but to smile in your hiding spot, it was a rather sweet moment between them all.
Then, Sylus looked your way again and his smile only seemed to grow more sinister.
"Are you going to hide forever, kitten?"
You froze. What did he mean by that? There was no way he found you already...
Then Luke and Kieran looked towards the same direction Sylus did and both let out a loud laugh.
"Holy shit, you look like a little raccoon under there!" Luke commented as he pointed at you and cackled.
You let out a grumble before rolling out of your spot under the couch. "You could see me this entire time!?"
"What a hunter you are." He said with a scoff. "I was staring at you the whole time, kitten."
Dammit, of course he was... "You didn't say anything though."
"You didn't do anything." He retorted back with a raised brow.
Then, right as you were about to argue back, a loud pop rang from behind Sylus. You froze for a moment before finally glancing to his side.
Luke and Kieran were grinning from ear to ear as confetti fell to the floor all around them, both of them holding each of their own confetti poppers.
You couldn't help but to let out a laugh whilst the twins decided this was the perfect moment to start cheering and singing for the man.
The same man who was stood there silently, staring down at the colourful confetti scattered across his plush maroon carpet.
You joined in with the twins and sung along as you started to pick up the confetti and threw it above him. Then you joined hands with a twins as began to circle around him, all singing loudly and incredibly off-key like children at a park.
Sylus could only laugh in response whilst watching you all act like idiots.
"Happy birthday, Sylus!" They all cheered all at the time same, each one joining in to hug him tight.
"Let go of me, you gremlins." He grumbled but made no move to remove either of you.
You glanced up and met his eyes as he smiled that smile that wrapped around your heart and squeezed the very life out of it. That smile that bound you both together for an eternity throughout every lifetime.
"Happy birthday, Mr Crow." You said with a gentle boop to his nose.
He laughs before grabbing your hand before you could retreat and pressed a kiss to your open palm.
"Thank you, Mrs Crow."
